I don't dig the caliber but I dig the look. If they made this in .380 or 9mm I'd be all over this.

So do I and it was missing the disconnect so I made one. The mag didnt fit so i soldered a piece of metal to make it work. The recoil spring was too weak so I ghetto rigged that. Then the frame cracked and I had to weld it. Now it runs fine. They're good guns if you so some smithing on them.

The Magazines are only vagly of the same spec as something like 27 factories in Spain produces Ruby's during the great war for France. France started marking the magazines for the maker of the Pistols because it was enough of an issue.

I remember you. Always have to say that your ponies look fantastic.

Just a question though. Does your safety latch move freely or is it nice and tight?

Mine likes to move about during firing, so I need to constantly hold the safety down or it'll jump up into safe. Dunno how I'd tighten it if it's possible.
>>
>>31194400
That grips looks pretty awesome.

I bought mine from eBay, but I'm sure you can find some on suprlus selling sites like Numrich or APEX or the like. Maybe gunshows would have em too if you don't mind spending the amount you'd spend on an airline ticket.
>>
>>31194400
As I mentioned earlier, Interarms Texas makes new ones that are as far as I can tell good copies of the originals. For instance, they lack the no-tilt shown here >>31194340 and are stamped on the bottom.

Otherwise, you're looking at quite a bit on gunbroker, or cheap modern design mags from Triple K.

>>31194422
Not him, but the safety catch on mine seems plenty tight still. It's nowhere near loose enough to jump like you're describing. That sounds like it's basically swinging free.

Colt magazines should almost always, except for very early magazines, have "Colt" on the floorplate with the caliber.

The extended front part of the floorplate on those bottom two is a give-away for Triple K manufactured magazines.

>>31194340
Two of these magazine followers appear to be non-Colt. The Colt followers were always like the one I circled in green.

In my experience, aftermarket (almost always Triple K manufacture) magazines are about 80% reliable, and Colt factory magazines are 100% reliable.

It looks like the followers are a little mixed and matched among your magazines, since the one on the right in pic related has a Colt two tone finished magazine body, but a non-factory follower. This would indicate that NONE of your magazines are purely configured as a factory Colt magazine, so you probably have found that they are all unreliable.

Neat.

I assume that one has the bar to lock the trigger so you get tactile feedback to tell you the safety is engaged. I'm curious about how that affects the trigger pull.

>>
>>31199059
Early 1907s (including the one in the picture) did not have the bar that locks the trigger. The trigger moves normally when the safety is engaged, it just won't cause the striker to be released.

I believe they added the locking bar so people wouldn't get confused in emergencies (if the trigger moves but it won't fire, the normal reaction would probably be to assume no round is chambered rather than that the safety is engaged).

I'm not aware of any other internal differences.
>>
>>31199176
The "CAI GEORGIA VT" Century import mark is fine with me generally, if they put it somewhere nondescript and keep it in one line. The Mach 1 Arsenal import marks tend to be OK because they put them in the most nondescript place, even though they use more than one line of text. But the PW Arms billboards are extremely objectionable.
>>
>>31199192
I see what you're saying now. Yes, you are correct. The trigger in my 1917 doesn't move back as far when the safety is engaged.
>>
>>31199104
>>31199134
What I mean is, I thought the frame was considered the firearm and that's what would have to be marked. Import marks don't really bother me
>>
>>31198985
>>31199192
As for how it affects the trigger pull compared to the 1907, I have no 1907 to compare against. However, I can say that the trigger pull is a crisp 8-10 pounds in my estimation. I don't have a trigger pull gauge, but damn this thing is heavy.

>>31199281
That's just the serial number. Import marks are meant to give additional information that may normally found on the slide or barrel anyway, like country of manufacture and caliber, and the name of the model of gun.

heads up for anyone who likes old .32/.25 hammerless pistols from the turn of the last century. It used to be common knowledge but since it happened to an acquaintance I feel like I have to do a /k/ PSA:

If you have an old hammerless gun, a great majority of the older pistols used the firing pin as the ejector, so if you feel you must cycle live ammunition through them manually for whatever reason, BE EXTREMELY SLOW AND GENTLE WHILE PULLING BACK THE SLIDE IF A ROUND IS IN THE CHAMBER.

Watched a friend of a friend at the range go to chamber check, and yanked back on the slide:
weapon fired out of battery, case was bulged pretty bad on one side, but you could end up glocknading a piece of legit history - or worse, NDing somewhere where you really don't want to ND.

I'm sure some of you are aware of this, but just wanted to spread the word.

carry on
>>
>>31199349
So is .32 acp.
>>
>>31199370
>a great majority of the older pistols used the firing pin as the ejector,
I don't know about "a great majority." To my knowledge, just the Browning design used in the FN 1910, FN 1922, and Colt 1908 Vest Pocket has this issue. Maybe some copies of those guns as well.
>>
>>31199300
I just got out a gauge and checked. The trigger pull is 7-8 pounds on mine.
>>
>>31199410
Probably the same, then.
>>
>>31199397
lots of knockoffs and cheap copies abounded back then too, and a lot of them were popular as police pistols in europe and quite a few made it back as war trophies, etc in some form.
