also, I live in ohio, so I was wondering if 45-70 is okay for hunting whitetail, besides obvious slight meat loss, though i dont really care, i just already own a 45-70 that i like.

I love the shooting of the critter, and I love cooking.

It's the whole staying out for a long time and gutting that isn't quite up to my speed.

I like staying up drunk, then going out at first daylight and shooting whatever we see. Field dressing is meh, but afterwards we can formulate a good-ass meal with it.

God I love some burgundy braised rabbit stew with all the fixins, or brandy rosemary quail.

6.5 Creedmoore is to 6.5 Swede as .308 is to 30-06.

Effectively the same, given factory loads. Your choice of projectile will matter far more than a few extra millimeters of case space.

Not rich just know how to eat ramen and cereal for a while in order to get what I want. As far as accuracy goes Its sub MOA all day long. No shifting impact with heat with my hand loads I can keep it on target out to 750 yards with a 150gr DRT round. Working on a 200 grain load for 1000 yards but I'm not real optimistic on that because of the short barrel on the rifle, but we'll see.

Very true I have heard that plenty of times. Honestly and truly I haven't tried it you have to have a very heavy bullet and very high pressure. Not something I really want to try with such an expensive rifle. But with the 200 gr and a certain set of load variables it might be possible without going to extremes.

Depends on where you hit it.

With good soft points my .30-06 punches fist-sized holes through boars.
7.62x54mmR is just a little less powerful, so I wouldn't go for body shots with it on rabbits.
