Milfag stationed at FT. Hood. Any Texas anons able to provide me with info about hunting hogs here? I googled some shit, but I figured its best to get info from people who have actually hunted around here.
Me and a couple friends of mine are planning on going hunting soon. I have a DSA Para FAL I was planning on using but they only have 5.56 ARs. Is 5.56 acceptable for hog hunting? One of them is also bringing a 12 gauge O/U as well, so he thinks he can probably just use that with slugs, although I think he's crazy.

I hunt hogs with 5.56 all the time, but honestly prefer 7.62x39 for javalinas & hogs. Your buddy should be fine with slugs as well as long as you aren't getting incredibly close to them, they have hard fucking skulls and I wouldn't want to only have two shots while they are making a beeline to your legs. And if you put down a female you might get some tasty tamales for your time

Used to lasso wild hogs from a tree stand when i was 12 . I either hung them right there or walked them back on a leash to a holding pen. Granted i only walked the sub 75lbers at the time a hard kick would get them sun-sa-bitches movin'
