I mean, it is an upgraded 70s aircraft. I wouldn't consider the F-16 as a proper buy to serve as a nation's mainstay fighter nowadays. I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with upgrading old stock (both F-16s and T-72s), but it shouldn't be something you're building your military future on.

MoD does't want PT-16, they evaluated the PT-91 and T-72M tanks as not perspective and not worthy for upgrades. The proposed upgrade is export only.

Except for a small program, where they put Asteria thermal cameras into Pt-91s, the T-72 modernization program is dead.

Which is a shame, because for relatively small amount of money (1-3 million Euro per tank) you can get rather decent machine.

Anders is is quite nice, but it's internal layout is not optimised for the IFV role. Maybe they changed things with Anders 2.

Don't forget that Huta Stalowa Wola is now working on Borsuk IFV. Prototype might be revealed next year.

I have terrible feeling that Obrum and Bumar are more interested in waging war with Huta Stalowa Wola than being useful.

A Leopard 2A4 is a correct response to the new T-72B3.

The PT-91 is an unwanted tank within the Polish military, I can't possibly imagine they would sink more money into it.

Overweight turret on a problematic chassis. The project was too expansive too pursue at the time so industry started working on BMP-1 upgrades. They were also too expansive for MoD and cancelled.

My take on PT-91 modernization:

- Exchange of cannon (2A46MS Slovak / Ukrainian KBM1M);
- Modernization of the turret (new bearing, drive and stabilisation);
- new FCS (Asteria);
- commanders panoramic sight
- Replacement of the control panel;
- auxiliary power unit;
- BMS and new radio;
- new fire suppression system;
- new powerpack

For arround 2 million USD this quite an upgrade. Especially considering that new tanks costs 10+ million USD and Germany run out of leopards to give away.

If you upgrade suspension (replace torsion bars) you could try to add armor modules.
