Yes.
The internal extractor was a blunder, the short extractor was the cure, the long extractor is for cheaper manufacturing via MIM.

One reason why the Mk.25 is probably the only actual "duty ready" SIG produced, and only then I would consider it after switching it out with a gray guns extractor, amongst other GG parts.

The P320 is an alright gun, but SIG has really butchered the classic line of pistols in every way with shoddy manufacturing practices, design "improvements," and insisting on dragging every gun through their "custom" shop so they can charge ~$200-500+ for a "better" edition.

In my opinion as someone who likes SIGs, yes, absolutely.
The P226 never needed a beavertail. It's not a 1911 or a Hi-Power where slide/hammer bite was an issue, nor does it let you get your grip any higher like a 1911. It's retarded.
The low profile slide release and decocker sucks too. The regular size one has never been an issue and the short one is practically stock Glock tier for how useless it is.
The gray guns trigger is completely useless too because unlike an actual GG job, it's just a drop in part and it isn't like an ACTUAL trigger job from GG.
And the price is inflated for all of this and other BS on top of their stupid club "legion" bullshit to make you feel cool.

Short extractors are more robust and more reliable, you do not hear of extraction/ejection issues on them. The only reason SIG switched to the long extractor is because short extractors could not be reliably manufactured using MIM.
SIG cheaped out, but funny enough MSRP didn't change at all.

SIG has just turned into more and more of a joke and nearly Ruger tier over the years as far as quality/consistency goes, it's been depressing as shit to watch. Thanks Cohen.

Garbage. SIG makes fancy, nice range guns. That's about all they've been good for lately. P320 actually is looking better and better, we'll see in a couple years how it holds up.

My 220 has a short extractor and I will not buy a long extractor model from Sig. I went looking for a 226 combat and they switched to the long extractor on current models so now I'm waiting to find a nice used short extractor model. I want this mostly for aesthetics but I feel the short extractor worked fine and the long extractor solved no problems on my end so fuck it.
