I like the way they look. An m&p9 was my first gun, a gift from my dad. I slapped an apex trigger and sear kit in it and it's shoots amazing. However, my preference has shifted towards hammer fired guns recently, so I don't shoot it nearly as much as is should.

It's the perfect handgun if the trigger wasn't dogshit. I was so set on the m&p until I saw every reviewer start off with "I had an Apex trigger installed". Get an FN9 if you want the same recoil, sights, and price range with a trigger equal to a Glocks.

That being said, I'm really looking forward to S&W's modular handgun they're making for the Army contract in February.

i like them. i had one that was stolen along with my other guns by a family member that is a fucking asshole, and degenerate everything you can name.

i didnt use the drop in trigger kit, i just watched a youtube video and used some 1200 grit sandpaper and ultra fine emery cloth.

the Apex sear makes it much better though.

yep, he had disappeared out west for a few years after stealing everything he could and selling it. the cops told me, call us when you find him. even though it was 7 guns included in the theft. gotta love them florida cops. it took me 6 months to get the paperwork from them for the theft to get my insurance claim done.

be smart and get a safe. I jewed out, and got my shit swiped.

at least lock up the handguns in a good fireproof safe. those fuckers are useful as shit. put all your important documents in there with your handguns. just make sure to be really slick first, and make a hard mount point for it into the slab with rebar and fresh concrete, so they cant steal the safe to break into it elsewhere.

Damn good weapon. I didn't do a full Apex trigger. I just swapped the sear spring, trigger spring, and the sear itself, stippled the grip, and ordered a Gun Goddess backstrap.

Now I've got a very predictable, very crisp and somewhat lighter trigger pull with a nice audible reset. Cost about $15 for the trigger and another $25 for the backstrap, as well as 3 hours or so of stippling.

Love love love love this weapon. 3000 rounds in with no malfunctions.

Not as much after market and not one of the big 3. If SHTF in America then it's good to be familiar with M&P, Glock, and Springfield because that dead guy in the corner is likely to have one of those three guns with ammo/mags and you need all the guns and ammo you can get.

I do think they look nice, feel nice, and shoot nice.

Older M&Ps have bad triggers, this is true. But the newer ones have fixed that. And Performance Center triggers have absolutely no need to swap them out, unless you really don't like the fact that the trigger is divided the way it is.

I've got grip tape in the front strap. I've considered getting a stippled back strap for it. I never really notice it getting too slick through.

I haven't shot a whole lot of pistols so I purchased one new this last year, knowing trigger was bad wasn't such a big issue for me.

I'm not a huge fan of hinged trigger, as it seems to have a odd pull.

That said the trigger is adequate on mine.

Also consider getting one with a thumb safty Smith & Wesson will send you a spacer for you to remove it. Just another perk.

meme came from. It certainly isn't as good as a 1911, but mine has way less pre-travel than any glock i've ever felt, it's far less spongy, a little gritty, but absolutely serviceable. I'm thinking about apex parts to get it to where I want it, but I don't think it's a must replace part anymore than I'd want a nicer trigger on any Glock I bought too.
