A warrior comprises of two different characters: a soldier and a fighter.

What a soldier brings to the table is his confidence.
What a fighter brings to the table is his resolve.

The first thing to become a soldier is that you receive a proper training. You can't do much about that except to trust in it.

The second thing to become a soldier is to understand the training. The instructor and the trainee work together here. 50/50 for understanding the case.

The third thing is that the trainee takes the training seriously. Seriously. There are things called 10% rule and blue falcons and whatnot, still this is about only you and you alone.

Soldiers are trained. Not so with Fighters.

Fighters are raised. Fighters defend values important to them, and they do it naturally.

Although a fighter would be the worst thing to be on a battlefield, he has chosen his side and his people.

I have worked with textbook soldiers who were useless in combat, and I have seen outstanding fighters with zero trained soldier's confidence, no real skills, no established teamwork, no logical tactics. Still the Resolve at max.
