I'm building an AR15 in 6.5 Grendel, Don't try to talk me into another round, I've already settled. Granted, I am stuck in a rut of weather or not to buy a complete upper, or buy parts individually. What do, /k/?
>>31166788
Go 6.5 spc instead
>>31166828
Not only has OP stated he has chosen 6.5 Grendel already
It's 6.8 SPC you fucking moron
>>31166788
Depends on what you want in an upper? Buying a complete upper is usually cheaper, but it's easier to personalize it when you build it yourself. Regardless, don't cheap out on the barrel. Shit barrel = shit rifle.
>>31166846
Of course I know what OP stated. Your appetite for bait will ultimately be your undoing. Moron.
>>31166788
Why not get a bolt gun in 6.5 Creedmoor? if you're going for expense and accuracy, 6.5 Grendel is pants on head retarded.
>>31166915
>h-haha got you! I-I was only pretending to be retarded! uhh yeah haha!"
You aren't fooling anyone, retard.
>>31166788
Never heard of a 6.5 Grendel, I'll be googling that shit now.
Why would you not get 300 AAC
>not 6.5 Somali
Why
>>31166975
Shooting unsuppressed ammo out of a 16 inch rifle at targets passed 12 feet?
>>31166788
Fucking .50 Beowulf slays 6.5 Grendel.
>>31166994
Bolts are interchangeable. That's the proprietary part aside from Barrel and magazine
If you get a Beowulf, may as well get a Grendel and vice versa.
>t. Grendel & Beowulf owner
>>31167042
Dragons Breath kills Beowulf though.
>>31166788
this is what i bought OP it really surprised me did not expect the quality and the out of the box precision.

I couldn't have made this shit up.
>>31166788
>What do?
Learn English mouth breather.
>weather or not
>weather
rain or shine retard.
It's whether you fucking imbecile.
Not surprising from someone who want to build a snowflake caliber GayR.

>the joke

Kek
>>31166915
You got roped in too quickly. Don't make bait if you can't handle it like that. You got offended and revealed yourself after a single person replied.
>>31166828
>>31166846
>>31166915
>>31166967
>>31167203
You guys all know there actually is a 6.5 SPC right? It's a wildcat that some people custom build for whatever weird reasons.
buy a complete upper imo
a lot of manufacturers started making grendel shit before it was saami-approved and so there's now a bunch of 'grendel' stuff that doesn't quite match up with the rest of the 'grendel' components or are less reliable, use out of spec bolts and headspaces, etc. so buying parts individually you'd have to research each part
>>31167286
You're right, I'm still learning. I do load and shoot 6.5 SPC however.
>>31166788
If you find a good upper that's not Alexander Arms, please post it here. Also, if you find any decent match/hunting ammo that's not > $1.00, please post it here as well.
>>31166788
Look into .264 LBC, its a very slightly tweaked gendel, can fire grendel ammo with zero issues.
Which complete upper you looking at?
>If you want real performance youd go 6mm grendel, your a half mil chubby
>>31166946
Probably because that's not an AR.
>>31166788
>Don't try to talk me into another round
Fuck you and your underbore round. 6mm AR.
If you're actually serious about long range shit, step up to an AR-10 in .260.
>weather
"whether"?
>>31169258
>.260
>better than 6.5g for long range
Wew lad.
>>3116697 because I don't want a 200 yard gun.
>>31167295
If you're going to make a special snowflake AR15, then just do one in .22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer
>>31166788
Get a complete upper and while you're at it see about getting the Echo Trigger.
Legal 2 shot burst, no ATF involvement at all.
And that 2nd shot, you can hold it, then all you gotta do is gently release.
>>31169258
>>31171259
Now that Lapua has stated they are going to make 6.5 creedmoor brass, I expect .260 to slowly die off like the 300 whisper.
>>31169524
He obviously meant wether as in castrated sheep
>>31172317
>.22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer
Sheesh. What a meme cartridge.
Pretty much everyone has switched to .22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer Ackley Improved.
>>31171259
As far as I can tell, they use identical bullets and the .260 has a very small advantage in velocity due to case capacity since the .308 case is slightly larger than the .30 TC.
6.5 CM is much easier to find locally, but is there some other reason the 6.5 CM is preferable to .260?
>>31173174
>>31173828
>6.5 creedmoor
OP is discussing 6.5 grendel.
The .260 is an AR10 platform vs. the AR15 of the grendel. It adds weight and reduces interchanging, which isn't a big deal I guess if you don't care about that type of thing. Some people do.
Ballistics wise, the .260 will beat the 6.5g when loaded hot just because of the additional case size. It's not a dramatic difference however, and I wouldn't consider the 6.5g a slouch compared to it. I wasn't suggesting that the grendel was better, I was just wew lad'ing the idea of it being that bad compared to a .260 as if we were discussing some sort of monster caliber.
>>31173481
>Not the superior .17 McLoudboomerstein SOCOM Lapua loaded with a light load of 270 grain load of pistol powder.

>>31174225
>Not using your semi auto 8 Guage shotgun PDW loaded with 00 buckshot mag

> not going with .458 socom
> not wanting to spend 4 dollars a round
are you a poorfag or somethin ?
>>31172683
Yeah nobody gives a shit about those, because nobody gives a shit about burst or thinks it's a good idea. Especially with a cartridge like the 6.5
Since we're all talking AR variants...
For southern whitetail and hogs under 300m, are the AR-10 variants worth 1.5/2.0x the cost of just buying an upper in 6.8/6.5?
Also, within 300m, is there any reason to go with a 6.5x39 upper over 6.8x43, since hunting rounds in 6.8 are so much cheaper?
>>31167267
get laid
>>31174386
6.8 sucks
get 6.5
>>31174424
Any rationale for that beyond >shit sux, brah
Quality BTHP/SP ammo for 6.8 is more readily available and for cheaper, but I'm willing to pay more if the 6.5 is worth it under 300m.
>>31174463
6.5 Grendel offers actual ballistic improvements over 5.56 with correspondingly greater accuracy and range AS WELL as increased terminal effect
6.8 is just a bigger bullet and is less ballistically efficient than 5.56 and only offers better terminal effect at short-medium ranges
http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/04/04/not-so-special-a-critical-view-of-the-6-8mm-spc/
>>31166788
Get at least a 20 inch barrel if you do. 6.5 Grendel doesn't like shorter barrels.
>>31174503
>muh biased a fuck tfb
>6.8 SPC not 6.8 SPC 2
that being said, if you're hunting, go 6.5
if you're plinking/SHTF/HD go 6.8 SPC2
>>31174885
I'd say for SHTF you'd still want 6.5
when/if SHTF, you'll mostly be using your rifle for hunting
>>31174885
>>31174927
if SHTF you want the most common ammo available, which is going to be 5.56, 7.62, and 9mm
Anything else is memeammo that you'll run out of.
>>31174885
He isnt wrong though. The 6.5 has a flatter trajectory and linger range than anything else you can put in an AR-15. Litterally EVERY gun magazine agrees on this (I read magazines about guns at work all day....Im security and thats all we are permitted to read because its "job related")
>>31174980
fair, but if you're going for snowflake, I'd say 6.5 is a bit better than 6.8
>>31174386
With a 300m Max you can still use.300blk SS rounds for uber cheapness. It really depends though.
The 6.8 has, and mainly exists now as a good hunting cartridge.
The 6.5 makes a good hunting cartridge, but also has wolf and prvi for relatively cheap blasting ammo.
>>31174578
No, sub-20" just doesn't maximize it's potential. What it doesn't like is badly specd parts
>>31174980
We have yet to see that, and if the happening was Any indication, the "common" ammo was wiped the fuck out for a long time. I get the logic but there is more 5.56 and 9mm out there because there are a lot more guns and people that need. It's a big supply for a big demand
>>31166788
just get an ar10 dumbass
