What was your first gun /K/?
why did you get it?
Pic unrelated, Mine was a Browing BDA 380.
It was cheap and I loved it.
Ruger Security Six. Bought in 1975. I still have it.

10/22
was a poorfag and wanted something cheap and semi auto to shoot
Ruger Mark 3 Target model, Anniversary Edition. Dad got it for me about when I was 12. I picked it out at what is now my favorite gun shop, even if they're a bit jewy about consignment.

Walther P99, had it for almost a year :^

Browning Hi Power. It was a gift from my grandfather for my 18th birthday. He actually let me pick between that and his 1911.
Looking back I probably should have picked the 1911 since it was an original that served in WW1, but hindsight's 20-20 I guess. The Hi Power has served me well though.
M44 nugget
Got it becuase an asshole neighbor threatened to kill me and everyone in my house. It was the only gun I could get right that day due to old cash and carry laws for private party c&r long guns in CA. Terrible HD gun, but it did have a bayonett. Also eventually got ammo that wouldn't over penetrate (czech training ammo)
I already sold it since it was having issues. I do own 2 other M44s now though.
Fist gun was an Ithaca model 37 20ga that my dad bought for me when I was 13. First thing I actually bought is my 1915 dated P08 Luger.

well my first gun was actually a ruger 10/22 but my first handgun was my SA GI 1911
I'ts still my favorite gun in my collection

A Marlin .30-.30, lever action. My dad gave it to me. My brother is borrowing it so he can feed his family.
First long gun: maverick 88 12ga (got stolen)
First handgun: pic related
My first pistol is going to be an upgraded version of the Rock Island GI model of a 1911 with adjustable everything.
FNS-9. Sold it when I went over budget for another gun. Lesson learned, now I'm debating getting another or the compact
Colt 1903. I wanted two things: a gun, and a pretty antique.

What kind of shit hole did you live in where you got a gun as a child?
M1 fucking Garand delivered to my door
Ruger P-85 mk II
It was a birthday gift when I turned 18 (back in 1991). My mom's boyfriend got it for me. I think I've put more than 5k rounds through it at the range over the years. I still have it, I haven't shot it in over a decade now, but I still have it.

He didn't say anything about being a child.
1941 johnson. Bi5ch cost me everything i had and never gave me a single reason to stay faithful but i fucking hold on. Also boof fixed her so shes a boof gun too. Yay boof!
1942 TT-33. Still have it, going to semi-retire it and my old SKS (first purchased rifle) soon, when I buy one of each to replace them. My LGS has a 1937 TT with the red slide like on the left, so I'll go for that.

Astra A-100 9mmP
I bought it for $100~ (Not from the US so not doing the proper conversion)
For a SIG clone it was a lot better than a SIG, this thing has the thickest barrel I have ever seen on any pistol and I am pretty sure I could shoot .50BMG out of it.
M16A2, some asshole just gave it to me.

>What was your first gun /K/?
This sweet bitch. Still my favorite rifle to shoot.
>why did you get it
Do I need to explain why?
Got one of these for my 18th birthday present, its been a great gun to learn on and I still shoot it whenever I go to the range.

Mossberg .410 single shot, cut down for a 9 y/o.
Dad worked for Mossberg 'til 1975 or so.
A lorcin 380. We used to drop off deposits and my dad gave it to me. Stupid on his part. If i did manage to kill some asshole with it, i would be in deep shit because im pretty sure it was a stolen / hot piece
A Tec-9 I bought off Armslist in a parking lot in Chicago several years ago.
Not even kidding.

I'm glad you guys all have nice stories about your first gun I on the other hand had a pretty shit experience. My dad had/has a 1911 I wanted one too but thought "well we already have a single stack 1911 why have 2 I can just borrow his when I wanna go shooting!"
SO you know what I did? I bought a fucking Para P14-45 as my first gun and it fucking sucked.
I have never hated a gun more than I hated that P14. I can't find a god damn picture of it I took trying to get Para to fix it so this one I found online will do. First thing it does after the first range trip is get this wonderful discoloration on all the small parts of the gun. So everything from the slide release to the grip safety all turn this nasty dark color. I figure it's just dirt and scrub the shit out of it but no dice. Then I figure well that's okay its a gun no big deal. So I live with it.
Back to the range I go only this time the gun is shooting all over the place. Can't figure it out until I notice the rear sight is loose and about to fall out. So I tighten the set screw which again fine no big deal. Keeps shooting loose on me so I loctite it when I got home. As I'm working with it that's when I notice the dovetail for the sight is actually cut wrong and there's a gap which the poor little set screw is not properly equipped to deal with.

Continued because it said the field was too long.
I get a longer screw from my local gunsmith who thinks it's just a minor defect. He, my dad, and I all agree it's probably fine with this longer screw. So back to the range we go. Set screw seems fine to me gun is shooting okay. About 200 rounds into our session the left side grip panel falls off. Go to tighten it and can't the screw is maybe only catching one or two threads worth and won't hold tight because the rest of it is stripped out. From the fucking factory.
That's when I say fuck it this is a new gun it has a warranty lets see if I can get Para to fix my shit so I play phone tag with them for a bit take some pictures and email them to some rep. I hear sweet fucking nothing from them for a month then when they do get back to me they blame me and won't do anything about it. At that point I had my local smith fix the grip panel and sold the gun to him because he wanted to fix it up into a shooter.
Fuck that gun and fuck Para. I'll never own another one.
A Henry bolt-action .22 when I was 7
Sill have it too.

What kind of shithole do you live in where you didn't?
