Are Ruger and Smith & Wesson the only 2 companies worth buying revolvers from?
>>31165157
taurus makes a good revolver but their customer service is terrible. I had to deal with them for a tcp and will never buy another taurus. My taurus 66 has atleast 10k rounds of 38spl and 4k rounds of 357 mag down the barrel. No issues so far with that gun. Pay the extra for a smith. They are finished a bit nicer and have a no bs warranty.
>>31165157
Colt, manhurin, korth, iver, old charter, old h&r, etc are fine choices if you're talking used too
Korth and cz ( Dan wesson), colt
There are other custom shops and small companies.
Hell even charter arms makes a good revolver ( better than tarus in my opinion)
>>31165211
Manurhin**
ruger makes a decent revolver
>>31165157
>smith and Wesson
>has picture of a colt
The hell OP
>>31165211
I was referring to new revolvers. Used ones from companies you mentioned have me very interested.
>>31165216
Good to know.
Freedom Arms if you have a few thousand to spend
>>31165157
You mean Smith and Clinton? Boycott Hillary hole revolvers.
taurus gets some shit, but theyre revolvers are pretty good
I mean, you have to be a special kind of fuck up to make a revolver wrong
I like the bulldog, would recommend for a cheaper end glove box gun
ruger makes the good shizz.
I'll probably get shit for this, but Chiappa.
>>31165157
Both bow to trends when gun legislation ideas pop up. See ruger's lawyer roll marks on every gun and Smith and Wesson's Hillary holes. Also until daddy ruger died, he refused to make his guns proprietary mags over 10 rounds
Pretty much every SMG could beat a revolver in a fight. Best case scenario you wound the SMG user and you die instantly.
>>31166266
This aint a video game.
>>31166237
I want a Rhino
>>31165955
Oh fuck off
>>31166286
I'm talking about self defense. If you got into a gun fight in real life having more bullets helps a lot.
>>31166159
Charter is about the cheapest revolver I would own, a Bulldog or Undercover would be nice for glove box/fridge/tape to the back of the toilet tank gun.
Carry a SP101 with 3" barrel occasionally, usually when I'm at work, my regular carry gun is just a hair too wide for my work pants to fit well, and they don't fit well when I wear a size bigger. Just keep a speed strip in my pocket.
>>31166322
If I get into a gun fight, I'd want my FAL, AR, or other long gun, with some infantry support. For concealed carry we're kinda limited to what we can carry.
Also, I'd rather my 642 spend months in evidence than an NFA item. A poor full retard MAC-10 would rust and be fingerfucked by every mouth breather that makes Barney Fife look like a supercop, the local PD calls a "Reserve Officer"
>>31166322
Still doesn't fit the context of this thread
And nobody ever compares Wheel guns to SMG/PCC
It's an apples to oranges comparison
>>31165816
This. Most single action ever unless you have 5 figures to spend on a full custom.
That being said, most Colts are good assuming they don't have fucked timing. Taurus is hit-or-miss. Rugers are bull strong but their QC has been questionable lately and they're getting expensive. Smith is good if you don't mind the hole. Dan Wesson if you find a clean one.
Finally, if you're into single actions, pretty much everyone makes a good SAA copy except for that really cheap one with the manual safety. Any Italian clone made since, like, 2005 is good, and the BFR is good if you're looking for a stupidly strong 5 gun that's cheaper than a Freedom Arms 83.
>>31166366
Uberti Cattleman revolvers have the "Colt four clicks", which is nice.
I just wish Smith would make the 638 without the Hillary hole like they do with the 6/442. Love the humpback with the hammer nub.
Korth
Janz-Präzisionstechnik
Dan Wesson
>>31165157
Everybody makes jokes about the frame not being one piece, but Chiappa seems pretty /k/ approved
>>31165157
If you have a shit ton of money to spend the Kimber K6 is actually fucking awesome. Ive had a chance to shoot one a few times and its right there with my Ruger Sp101 except it has 1 more round. But it handles almost just like the SP
>>31167536
>flag improperly displayed
fucking disgusting
>>31167536
>literally no decorations except the flag and various weapons around the room
I-is there something wrong with us?
>>31167603
Of course not, we're all perfectly functional human beings.
>>31165216
>>31165211
>>31166407
All these suggestions for Korth, are they actually worth anything near their pricetag?
>>31167628
fucking dinosaurs
>>31166385
Could someone explain Hillary hole. New to /k/
>>31166237
>Chiappa
After owning a rhino, i'd rather have a taurus
>>31165157
Short answer? Yes. Long answer? Yessssssssssssss.
>>31165198
>Taurus
>Good
Top kek.
>>31165955
>>31166254
OP asked for good revolvers, not whether or not the companies are or are not good politically. Ruger and SW make good revolvers.
>>31170081
It's a lock built into the side of the revolver so muh chillins can't shoot someone with it
Fuddlore has it engaging with anything larger than a target load
>>31167639
From a collector point of view they are high dollar guns
For a shooter you would probably be better served by a tuned GP100
Which smith revolvers are they making without hillary holes now?
>>31170700
642
M&P340
442

This is the most /k/ room I have ever seen.
How are the Rock Island/Armscor Colt clones?
>>31170735
>Only small pocket revolvers
Guess ill have to buy a gp100 after all
>Really thinking about getti brg a Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 casull just to fuck around with
Someone please talk me out of it... I really can't spend more money on guns right now...
No, no revolver is worth buying.
>>31170814
Why would we talk you out of buying a gun?
>>31166340
Are..are we the same person
>>31170815
You ams not even try's hard.
>>31170814
Check for a sale in October / November
>>31166366
Which really cheap one with a manual safety?
>>31171135
Heritage Rough Rider
>>31171324
I thought that might have been it. I have the .22, it's a pretty accurate and fun toy, i can see where they might have problems with big bores.
>>31170566
Not to mention mention there are several configurations of the GP100 floatimg around.
>>31165157
Don't listen to /k/. go to your local gun shop and try out some different models and brands, now go back home and do some research on the model you like the best. If it is a reliable revolver then you should buy it.
>>31170081
It is a small lock in the frame that prevents the hammer from moving. They don't fail often, really only on the lightweight models if you shoot high recoil loads and even then it's more likely not to fail. If it does fail, then you have to send it to the factory. It is primarily disliked due to being an eye sore and for breaking something that never needed fixing.
>>31170548
Their revolvers are good. I just read the question and thread title in a different context last night.
>>31167639
you get diminishing returns, but also the very best revolver money can buy.
>>31165955
this buy used, buy old, never buy taurus
Old and used. The only answer. There are lots of older Colts and S&W revolvers out there. Pawn shops, gun shows, gun shops. Educate yourself on what to look for and buy used. Take the side plate off a 30 year old Smith and do the same with a new one. You will understand why.
Are Dan Wesson any good or are they memes?
>>31170081
Pic is worth a thousand words.
>>31165157
No anon, buying revolvers from the Soviet Union/Eastern Block is a viable option too :3
Also fuck smith & faggots
I am firmly in the "refuse to buy a revolver with a cuck hole lock" camp. It is ridiculous that that shit gets put on guns.
>>31174702
That does not look good
>>31174766
Four parts that are more useless than a clit on a muzzie and should be cut out and thrown away too.
>>31166286
>>31170509
Love my Rhino to death and would CC it if I could.
I typically try to buy new guns, but there is literally no reason to buy a new revolver if that revolver is gimped by the Hillary hole. Revolvers are sturdy and last thousands on thousands of rounds if taken care of. Why buy a new version of say the 586 when it is objectively less safe and plays right into the hands of politicians who want to take your guns away? It is irresponsible. Many gun ranges disable those locks because they can and do turn on randomly, even with normal ammunition. Is it rare? Are other malfunctions rare? Why risk your life?
>>31174925
Removing the lock is elementary.
>>31175466
So is buying a used gun or another company in protest. Why get a new 686 when the older ones are more safe and don't encourage politicians like Hilary Clinton? I'd only buy a new S&W that doesn't have the Hilary hole. I have no other issues with the company or its other products.
>>31170509
Put your hand too high, huh?
