Yes, great option for a full AR. You might be better off building an AR yourself though. You can buy the furniture you want instead of sticking with pre-built options.

It's like building a computer vs ordering a prebuilt. Both will work great but you'll probably save money and get more out of it if you build.

Or you can do what I did and buy a preowned but barely fired rifle in a private sale that had what I wanted already for $150 less than I would spend to build it. pic related
>>
Yes.

It does everything a basic AR has to do.
>>
>>31158290
Yep its its fine

stay away from that "MOE edition" though, you can get the same thing a lot cheaper through PSA

Get the Sport II
>>
Get a Colt, dumbass.
>>
>>31158290
nothing wrong with it.

but i seriously recommend buying each part you want separately rather than buying a gun then upgrading it piece by piece

You can buy it stripped and add on all that green shit you see in ur photo OP for like 120$. (- mag -buis)

Put about 1500 rounds downrange this year with it so far and went to 1 prac rifle comp with it.
Good entry level ar.
works for home def
very light, was able to maneuver pretty well on the course ( i think its like 9lbs give or take)
basic cleaning and care
Zero complaints

get the sport 2 so you get the dust cover and forward assist

>FN

Neither are up to full mil-spec/TDP for their commercial sales, FN because they are contractually bound and S&W because they are budget rifles.
>What is Colt no longer has the contract because they're morons
Colt still owns the TDP and any they still hold contracts for M4s, they're just no longer the sole source for M4s, but the government still pays Colt royalties on any M4 they procure from another manufacturer, such as FN, and that's in effect until some time in 2020 or 2030 or something like that.

The FN15 is a commercial gun. Does not use the same parts as the military guns.

Hence why the actual Military M4s have a different State marked on them then the commercial FN15.

1 I didn't build my AR
2. It had mediocre fit and finish, which is literally the only reason to buy a colt over "muh PSA build" build date was June 2015
>>
>>31160818
>Th-they still have more expensive models!
Doesn't matter.
The spec is still not TDP and even then you're now paying S&W's MSRP of $1,249 for their "serious" "non-budget" AR that isn't even spec when a 6920 of actual spec is $200 cheaper at MSRP.
I know you're probably new to this AR game and stuck in the "home brew/budget is just as good" phase, but do a little research and you'll straighten yourself out.
>>31160825
What a shame. If you've moved up to an SR then you're probably pretty well off either way.
>>
>>31158290
Ruger AR-556 is better in every way.
>>
>>31160917
Idk anon. Maybe the ruger was better than the sport i because lack of dust cover and forward assist, but since s&w added those, I'd say it has the edge. The ruger has such godamn tight tolerances. I could not take the pins out without a punch, even after hundreds of rounds

It has a different gas block.

Everything "proprietary" about the rifle can be replaced.
>>
>>31160963

I don't get the tight tolerances thing.

Some people say it makes the gun more accurate and keeps shit out of it, but others say it fucks up reliability.

Which is it?

Nigger the civilian sector has moved past the shitty levels of quality that are necessary to make something milspec. Milspec meant something 5 years ago, today it ain't shit. You know what counts as milspec? Accuracy of 3 MOA. Any person buying an AR commercially would be horrified at that level of accuracy with their gun.
>>
>>31161184
>b-b-b-but milspec a shit
>>
>>31161241
Not the anon you quoted but milspec is a shit aside from buffer tube threading being deeper
>>
Paid $880. Colt M4 6920. Worth every mutha fuckin penny. Notice only cheap crap is ever used in mass shootings. History, quality, reputation. ... poor fags stop hating. It is one of the best produced ARs out there because, guess what, they made the rifle what it is today. COLT, an American tradition.

>>
>>31161283
k
>>
>>31161184
>But your mil-spec is shit!
>Commercial is better!
Which is why S&W bothers to use an M4 profile barrel and dress their standard M&P up as an M4 to give the illusion of it being "mil spec" all while using weaker barrel steel, using a 1:9 twist, CAR buffers, and isn't even using a standardized/spec gas port for a carbine length gas system.
And no, that isn't the sport models, which are even bigger offenders.

I was always told that Colt was basically the best off the shelf AR but this thread seems to be full of people trolling otherwise. They're full of shit, right?

Tell me about entry-level ARs, tho. People in the main thread are less helpful than trolling against Colt is in this thread.

Have thought about getting a SCAR 16 while I still can or a Noveske instead. Local shop stocks Daniel Defense, but they remind me of "pro" paintball guns and the white trust fund niggers who buy them.

If you have a lead on a deal take it. You might be able to build a better rifle at the same price, but if you aren't mechanically inclined or just want a complete gun out of the box, S&W will serve you well.
