Newfag here. I understand how a hammer pistol design works, but how does a striker fired work? Why is it found on pistols, not rifles? thanks.
Damn.
You're like, next week's new Iphone new.
You uhh...
You should probably start with a documentary, or something, about how all this works before somebody here convinces you to jam a finger in the cylinder gap of a revolver because it'll give you magical powers.
is your google broken OP?

Pistols have more moving parts than rifles allowing for the striker assembly to properly function in a high heat environment. If you have a striker fire pistol be sure to use grease, not oil as oil will burn off quicker in a high heat striker assembly (HHSA)

OP here, is that a AK?

Thanks famalam.
People make a big deal about guns being striker vs hammer fired all the time, but it's really not that big a difference. Oh no!!!1 This gun uses linear interpolation instead of circular interpolation to detonate the primer!!!! Big deal.
Whether the firearm uses push-feed or controlled-feed, what kind of locking system it uses, the trigger type and things like that are much more important to me.

It's more a matter of taste in pistol triggers, most striker fired pistols these days have that Glock style quasi-DAO with a safety on the trigger, this feels different from a single-action, hammer fired pistol.
At least in my experience. Also I like being able to use my thumb to cock and decock a hammer manually.

Why?

They call it "striker fire" because it's actually not gun powder but phosphorus that ignites in the cartridge, the same phosphorous that is used in matches. They got the name from "striking" a match. TMYN

Because it works, and I prefer either using the DA, pull if needed, or cock the hammer when needed, I like that over using the manual safety.
