I really do love the Marines. Two of my best friends are marine corps officers. Working with them overseas was always a breath of fresh air.

But they're fucking retarded when it comes to tactics. They have a lot of heart,but if I tell an army company to raid a village, vs the Marines; the army will set up cordones, and deliberately sweep,if engaged utilize flanking maneuvers.
The Marines I was with literally ran head first into the village,throwing flash bangs into every room before clearing it. It was much less thought out,but fun.

In my experience Marines in current day are shock troops. I love and respect them for what they are,but they lack the finesse at the benefit of esprit de corps. Army as a fighting element is more stable for a prolonged battle.

I had similar experiences with Marines, our infantry was extremely methodical, while theirs was all about tempo. Shock and Awe almost really, they'd be on badguys so fast they usually didn't have time to arm themselves. They knew their shit and operated very effectively on an individual and team level, but didn't work as a platoon or company the way the Army grunts did. Watching the Army raid a village was usually like watching a well orchestrated symphony, people and groups moving in synchronization with each other, while the Marines were more akin to a metal concert, all adrenaline and fist pumping.

Though 3ID were some cowboy motherfuckers who did the same shit and used rockets whenever they got a chance. Literally anytime they had an excuse to. Which was cool to watch, but a bit of a bummer, especially when you're just a lonely Engineer wanting to blow holes in something.

The standards he posted are for the 18-21 age bracket and they apply after AIT. Graduating basic requires 50 points for each event, anytime after is 60 points per event.
