Is Napoleon Total War /k/ approved?

How does it compare to Empire?

And yeah the AI in Napoopan is pants-on-head retarded, you can win just about any battle by using cav to force squares and keeping the enemy from forming up while you hammer them with artillery

Of course I think this has less to do with them getting worse and more to do with my genre shift into grand strategy games.

I have thousands of hours logged on Paradox games now, I find the much grander scale more interesting and the pacing more enjoyable.

Darthmod is sweet but the game suffers unless you have another human to play with. Every battle becomes trivial when your howitzers with realistic destructive power just shred the enemy who brings nothing but line infantry to the battlefield. Cavalry should counter your artillery, but the AI is too stupid to do that effectively.

Every Total War has terrible AI, but when you use Darthmod, you're altering the balance that the gameplay had to mitigate the bad AI.
I would love to play it with another human.

It was okay for Empire and Naolpeon, but needs to be scrapped.

I tried to make a /tacg/ general on /vg/ for all the tactical shooters that have players but don't have their own generals. It got sent to some /a3g/ shutters who ruined it and killed it day one.

There is a bunch of good ass /k/ approved vidya, and I wish they had a general.

Something like a /k/ vidya general so we could discuss and play together and shit.

I got it on sale, probably not worth it at the full price unless you really, really like learning about sensors and micromanaging patrols as the game autistically models just about everything in terms of radar emissions/jamming/weather etc

Just buy northern inferno if you want to try it for 20 bucks and wait for another sale, I'm having more fun with it's campaign than most of the main scenarios anyway due to the time period, post 1980s first world warfare is just a sensor and BVR wankfest though the modern syrian/ukrainian speculation scenarios are fun

In Empire, I would always start as a European power and sail an army down to India and begin my conquest. Eventually conquering all of India and ruling the spice trade. Mass wealth, niggas.

If simplified line infantry combat is your jam it's great. Vanilla ai is bad. Realism is bad. Difficulty is based on buffing the ai's ability to blindly wander into your fire arcs but not drop or rout. darthmod makes things much, much better. But that's fine because its a mass market videogame so they have to make it actually fun. Realistic command on a napoleonic scale would be frustrating

I always hated the fucking camera in the total war games. It seems like it's more suited for taking screenshots than playing a strategy game.

Really like Ultimate General Gettysburg though. It was made by a Total War modder

I went into napoleon thinking i could rule the world under napoleons fist, much like in empire, turns out, europe is barely conquerable.

I let my buddy try it out, i took over when he had one unit of light infantry one unit of dragoons one unit of long riflemen and a single horse canon. The brits had most of their quick battle army left and I ended up winning. Empire is based af.

I prefer medieval 2 but even with 360 hours in the game, I'm still 100% shit at anything but the campaign map and routinely lose most of my men in a battle that should be an easy win.
