I'd take a 92fs/M9 (basically the same thing) over a 1911 unless you really want a 45

The Beretta is super reliable. 1911 reliability varies depending on which one you buy since there are like 1000 different companies that make them.

A 92fs is the same as an M9, M9 is just the military's name for the beretta. But it is a great pistol and priced quite well I think

functionally yes, but there are differences between a 92FS and a M9.

9mm's far cheaper to shoot than .45 so there's that to consider as well.

If you go 1911 follow Larry Vicker's advice and get a Colt if you're looking for a sub 1,000 dollar gat. (Yes you can find them, I did in about 3 seconds).
