Russian AK74M is good, but outdated.
Canada's C7 is very good but issued optics are old.
New Zealand's new LMTs are Gucci as hell.
South African R4 rifles are very good but they're in a sorry state now and need modernization.
Swedish Ak5C is a great gun but suffering similar to the R4 or many other nations where military isn't such a massive expenditure of tax dollars; years of issuing the same rifle over and over is beginning to really take its toll.

Probably because it was the 70s-80s and most nations figured there was still a place for machine guns, and (rightfully) figured that suppressive fire shouldn't come out of something that only holds 30 rounds in it.

you're retarded

modern infantry doctrine is to fire single shots from a large group to conserve ammo and because 20 people firing in semi is the same as one guy firing auto, but lasts a hell of a lot longer

30 rounds goes away very quickly if every guy goes full retard and dumps it towards the horizon all at once

machine guns exist and later G36es weren't made out of belgian chocolate and compacted coffee grounds anymore and began to use some kind of plastic instead

>And...a regular AR doesn't keep shit out of the system? You realize the gas pressure is released out the side of the BCG right?

No all kinds of shit. While it is well protected from dust and mud as long as dust cover is closed, pseudo direct impingement gas system puts the residue inside chamber. If gunpowder doesn't match specification it might lead to shit like what happened in Vietnam war with AR-15. Using WWII surplus gunpowder to load ammunition for weapon designed for different gunpowder was a brilliant idea and saved a ton of money. All those servicemen who died due to M16's not working as intended in 'nam died for a good reason. Maybe a fraction of a cent per round. A valiant cause and sacrifice for freedom.

The Kriss Vector has a very complicated firing mechanism that fouls up after about 100-150 rounds. If it has a malfunction, you have to disassemble the whole damn thing. They look cool and had great marketing.

Actually it was originally designed as one with a longer and heavier barrel. Against the advice of H&K the Bundeswehr insisted on a shorter pencil barrel. Pretending that it does not live up to the standards set is not only shifting the goalpost but in full blown denial of the poor decisions the Bund made knowing full well how retarded it was.
It just so happens that now they are being sold off at the expense of the taxpayer. I had a chat with some british police recently because they sported the 36k's and they love it just like they love the low price because of the "scandal".
Meanwhile our government is looking for a replacement despite H&K offering the original heavy barrel that was refused as a cheap upgrade to fix the problem and is being ignored.

To be honest there would be no way of distinguishing a decent airshit from a real piece so sure it could very well be.
The absence of ear protection would probably be the main giveaway but to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if the guy is just a moron or its an photo-op to show off the free float guard, spooky gas mask and assault style ammo pouches.

5.56 is better for infantry with embedded belt fed weapons and DMs, especially with artillery or air support on call.

7.62 is better if you dont have those resources at hand. Militaries do.

Standard Issue rifles in the us are notoriously all over the place.

Ive had one issued that was amazing, but Ive had 2 or 3 that could have got me killed for one reason or another.

The weapon is old tech, and sometimes old ass shit is still floating around in inventories just waiting to ruin someones first contact with the enemy.

Dude, you’re just trying to justify your ignorance about firearms by inciting national pride. Stop it. It won’t work here.
The M4 was not used in Vietnam. It didn’t exist then. ‘Nam ended in 1975, the M4 was adopted in 1994.

And even the M16 was a great design. It’s reputation was tarnished by other factors than the design, namely media campaigns, the powder used in the ammo, and this absolutely astonishing belief that it was a “self-cleaning” rifle and didn’t need to be maintained.

Would you blame a car if the driver never changed the oil or filled it with gas?
>>
>>31101857
>>31101876
>>31101922
The m4 has different buffers, length of pull, different feed ramps to improve reliability, a carbine length gas system that increases the violence of action movement and the cyclic rate. They also use heavier ammunition. And a heavier profile barrel to better withstand long strings of rapid fire.
An m4 as a far cry from an m16a1.

It's not like basic infantry tactics is based around creating fire superiority, fixing the enemy and then flanking them or anything.

The fuck do you mean the standard rifle isn't for suppressing, realistically thats 95% of its fucking job. Fix and flank, you can;t fix unless you are sending more rounds down range than they are and when the opportunity presents itself if you can't hit a man silhouette then what the fuck is the reason for having a rifle like that in the first place.

It totally is, unless they're working with someone elses designs. Their FALs are fine, but they tried to make a .223 version and it was a mess of failed extractions and misfeeds. Its kind of embarrassing that an abject shithole like Mexico manages to make a functional and original indigenous rifle design, but a comparatively developed country like Brazil can only manage licensed copies without shitting the bed.
