I've heard it was based off of German Leibermuster though.

Yeah most 1st world countries use digital patterns (at least in deployment, some use cheap surplus erdl since it's cheaper) i think Britian uses an ERDL desert pattern and maybe some 3rd world mudshit or some kikeland countries still use surplus 50 year old vietnam era erdl.
>>
>>31093564
Umm because they did? But i wouldn't expect you to know that since Battlefield and Cowadoody only show soldiers wearing OD

You must have just made all of this up.

US Army: Scorpion W2
USMC: MARPAT
UK: MTP
Kikeland: Olive Drab

Most 1st World countries have their own patterns like Flecktarn and AUSCAM, but many are moving over to transitional patterns like MultiCam. What your saying really doesn't make any sense.
>>
>>31094953
I'm saying ERDL woodland is mostly phased out and not used, it's being replaced by modernized versions of it (multicam i guess) or different patterns all together (digital camo)

Digital camo patterns are specific types that use a "pixelated" micropattern. Their use in the world is relatively rare compared to others which use older designs.

>being replaced by modernized versions of it (multicam i guess)
So...ERDL is not a predecessor to MultiCam. It is the direct predecessor to M81 and has a conventional amoeba pattern with contrasting color palette. The pattern makes use of only a large macropattern. ERDL is a pattern that was and is similar to a great number of patterns both during and after World War 2.

MultiCam is a pattern that uses gradiently fading amoebas with substantially higher color values. It's closer to USMC P42 in color palette and Italian Vegetato in design. It has both macro and micropatterns.

My argument still stands that ERDL woodland is mostly phased out, there are camos that look similar to it, (multicam does LOOK a bit like ERDL) but the actual pattern itself isn't really in use very much say for a few countries (in Slovenia our army does use ERDL woodland but we are incredibly slowly replacing it with multicam but i doubt we'll transition anytime soon considering how fucked our armed forces are financially)
>>
What are the differences between M81 and ERDL?
>>
>>31095511
Slightly different colors and i think erdl is the predecessor to M81, or maybe it's reverse either way one is made after the other
>>
>>31095580
yeah you're right, erdl is the predecessor

thanks mangg

That seems to be a bit of an urban legend since I haven't come across any official documentation about it, but the similarity of the patterns certainly lends the idea a fair bit of credence.
>>
>>31093783
Because it's not Flecktarn you tard. It's Leibermuster.

what did he mean by this
