You might need some kind of impact primer in the can. And maybe fill most of it up with lightweight wadding so the can doesn't just lazily flop out of the gun and land about ten feet from you, resulting in a hilarious news headline and/or obituary.

I'd try filling a can about a 1/4 of the way with some ball bearings/whatever you want, and then fill the rest with some gunpowder/black powder/powdered cum, it's your choice, then either set up a fireworks fuse for it, or make some kind of jury rigged impact sensitive detonation charge.
