How does the material of a fucking knife handle matter? I don't want to break your Call of Duty induced fantasies, but in modern combat between developed militaries, infantry isn't that relevant, the most useful part of them being their ATGMs, mortars, and IFVs. An army of Soviet WW2 conscripts with nuggets, supported by Armatas, BM-30 Smerchs, Mi-35Ms, Ka-52s, Su-25s and BMP-3s would wipe the floor with Navy Seals, Rangers, Foreign Legion or whatever, if they're part of one of these Euro armies that ditched their MBTs and have only a couple 70s era SPGs.

Unless we enter urban combat, of course, where infantry reigns ; but, well, urban combat between developed militaries is a terrible meatgrinder with limited usefulness, and both NATO and Warsaw Pact understood quickly that they should avoid cities like the plague - especially since for a couple years, in both doctrines, cities were meant to be fucking nuked - and slug it out on open ground, a good terrain for the main fighting forces of WW3, tanks, helos, artillery, planes and IFVs.
