Waiting for some .455 to show up so I'm improvising a shell out of a brass hammer handle and shotgun primers.

Fun fact: current prices per round for .455 are higher than .50 BMG

>>
>>31087440
You could make the bullet heeled for increased case thickness. What is the melting temp of the plastic you use? you could even make specialized hot glue molds.
>>
>>31087525
Heeled? Im not sure what that means.
The printers extrude at 285c but it probably melts before that. I was thinking of casting some from acrylic but im not sure how it would stand up to being shot. These have a cone in the bottom that im hoping will act like a mini ball and expand for a gas seal. Theyre .350" in diameter so 5 thousandths less than a typical 9mm. They should still grab rifling though.

Cleaned my r700 after pulling it out to test something some stupid memelord was bitching about. Realized the stock wasn't original to it after taking the action/barrel out to get under it and figure the bedding probably needs to be redone since the action is from 1962 and who knows how long it's been in this config.

So probably going to glass bed it, mount my old weaver k4 on it, and then maybe do something with the trigger if I'm not lazy.

>>31089133

>>
>>31089154
Its really just finishing work. The printer gets everything nearly perfect.
Just painting, and fitting. I want to get them injection molded because then i wouldnt have to paint and the printer wouldnt have to run for over 100 hours per enigma
>>
>>31089326
We sell about 2 a month. It isnt our only product thankfully. Just the one that keeps the lights on consistently.
>>
>>31087347
Have you tried them out yet? I assume you are running/going to run them through a revolver, probably wouldn't run an auto with just primer? Also, are you worried about the bullets simply shattering? I've worked with that type of printer before and the plastic was pretty brittle and prone to breaking if you used too large of a honeycomb structure.
>>
>>31089397
They feed and eject reliably through my m9. I havent shot them yet. The primer definitely wont cycle the gun.
I printed them solid since theyre only 9x15mm and round so theyre like little plastic pills.
>>
>>31089341
you could look into casting as a halfway point. I have used alumilite to cast a shit ton of stuff and it works extremely well. once you get proper molds made you can basically replicate something all you want. I have made a watch movement out of alumilite before, granted it only ran for about 90 hours before it was to worn to function. But casting should work for your purposes. You can also avoid the rather extreme costs to begin injection molding.
>>
>>31089376
Oh, that's pretty good then. About how far are you from getting things injection molded? 1000 is too rich for my blood but 600ish per would be retardedly tempting to hook up to a radio setup.
>>
>>31089445
A mold costs $15,000 from what ive found.

So a good bit away lol.

>>31089438
I was thinking about casting the rotors in acrylic. I should try and see about printing them as one piece again. They started as 11 pieces and would fit into genuine enigma rotors. Then i streamlined them into 3 pieces to get the print time down. I wonder if i can do a one piece then make a mold from it
>>
>>31089445
>hook up to radio
The power plug hides a serial connection that you can use with a software defined radio. I dont know how it works but it works. Im not the electrical guy though. I do the cad, run the printers, and screw shit together lol
>>
>>31089469
I would have to know your designs but if you design your mold properly you should be able to cast multiple rotors at once. Also I am assuming it is all computerized since the rotors would be non conductive.
>>
>>31089496
Oh also just make some inquiries with the casting community since they are incredibly friendly and will give a lot of really helpful advice about setting up your molds properly.

Yes. The dips in the thumb wheels actuate a roller switch to change the settings. We havent made a ratcheting system yet but thats later. The is the back of one of the rotors. Trying to imagine how the mold flow would happen makes my head hurt.
>>
>>31089538
you would probably have to keep it cast as 3 separate pieces from the looks of it but it would cut down your print times but could possibly take some increased hand work to finish off, the nice thing is that you could get some mold making stuff and resin and just do some expirements for like 300 bucks and see how it goes.
>>
>>31089582
Ill look into it tomorrow. I have an old resin casting kit somewhere that i bought at a hobby store. Ill see if i can find it. But im off to bed. Thanks for the ideas/help. U da real mvp.

I know, I wasn't talking about using the cylinder I was just talking about buying a 40 caliber barrel. Ideally I'd buy a barrel in a more common caliber, but then I'd need a new cylinder too. And like I said I'm no expert so I wouldn't even have the slightest clue on how to go about finding one that would fit.

I assume you're planning to load .40 caliber bullets in .41 Colt cases. That should work since .41 Colt uses a heel bullet. A contemporary option would be a .38/40 Winchester Centerfire, which actually used a true .40 bullet. And .38/40 was a relatively popular chambering for revolvers at the time. I remember one Anon that picked up a Uberti Cattleman in .38/40 for less than $200 and used it as a truck gun. He loaded cases with .40 S&W bullets.
>>
>>31091675
any luck finding parts for those Ross rifles, I have a sportered one that I would like to find a proper stock for.
>>
>>31090626
One thing to keep in mind is that later .41 Colt loads that would be contemporary with your gun actually used a .38 caliber bullet. You could possibly get by with a true .38 caliber (not .357) barrel.
>>
>>31092035
I have been searching for a butt plate for about 2 yrs now for one. Thankfully the two I have only had the stocks poorly refinished. It is nearly impossible to find replacement parts for Ross Rifles and so many have been sporterized.
You may have to find someone who makes stocks from scratch and pay for it.
Which version of the Ross do you have?
>>
>>31091408
The problem for me is trying to find a barrel blank in the appropriate size. I am open to suggestions, but a 40 s&w barrel is the closest thing I can think of, and I'd just lathe it down as if it were a blank
>>
>>31092008
>>31092113
I have some heeled bullets kicking around that I measured at around .404/.405, so I thought it should be pretty close to a 40. I'm not a machinist or anything too hardcore, but it would be really nice to get this hun working again as I live in Canada and this pistol has antique status. Meaning that it's one of the few handguns you can carry in the bush without jumping through a tonne of hoops and sucking off the CFO

>>
>>31085769

Dude...

Take .45acp cases and load them up as needed. Dont actually shoot standard .45acp loading obviously, but the cases themselves are nearly identical and more robust to boot.

If you're loading it at the proper pressure level its not going to be an issue. Likewise just using the primer pressure (or a little extra powder) will do just fine and youll probably see the bullet flying downrange.

As far as .40 caliber barrels go, your best bet is probably a modern S&W 610 barrel. Granted it's a full under lug stainless barrel, but it's 10mm (.40 caliber) and is available from Brownell's and Midway USA. The only other .40 Caliber revolver I know of is the Ruger Blackhawk Buckeye convertible in 10mm/.38-40.
>>
>>31093201
I forgot Taurus and Charter make .40S&W revolvers, but they're both snub nosed concealed carry guns. Also doing some reading, Colt kept a .40 caliber bore even after they started loading .41 Colt with a standard .38 caliber bullet. The used hollow base bullets, like a Minnie ball, so that it would expand and engage the rifling.
>>
>>31093338
That could work, but I was thinking I could even get a glock or an m&p barrel and just turn it down until the outside was the same, and then thread it so it'd fit on. As long as the bore is suitable on a 40/10mm to fire 41 long colt through it. I just know there's people on here that are smarter than me and I wanted to get someone else's opinion before I butchered a barrel.

That would require shaving the cylinder which is heresy and something I'm not sure is even possible given the scant amount of material there.

Update on it, it shoots and punches through Styrofoam at one and a half yards but not much else would probably scare off a snek though shit a plastic bearing and it embedded itself in the cover of the backdrop and shattered.

Also in hindsight I should have not done it in my work shed in because there is lead dust everywhere now but decontamition should be fun.

>>31093113
Its not shaved to accept moon clips, I could probably just headspace it from the mouth because the cylinder has a taper and that's what my shell does anyway but that's in hindsight of paying way too much for fiocchi crap I need to tear down anyway

M76 mags. They work fine for 308, especially when you use 7.62 bullet guides. My barrel guy has done 3 in 308 with no issues.

>>31094824
The receiver is 11" long, the m76 and psl both are approximately 3/4" longer than standard AKM parts. Basically if you grabbed everything at the middle of the magazine and stretched it out. The bolt, carrier, top cover, and recoil assembly are all longer. Everything else is basically the same as any Yugo RPK, with slight differences in barrel journals.

Just finished building a gen2 glock. It's my first Glock and I am really liking it.

Got a dirty old Remington 870 1951 Wingmaster for $250 from a pawn shop. Sanded the chipped shellac/lacquer off of the stock and stained in with Danish oil. Keeping the 30 inch barrel for hunting, I'm going to get a ribbed barrel and cutt it down to 18.5 inches, adding a +1 extension with a 6-round shell carrier for one hell of a shotgun. Sling swivels, too, obviously.

An original "LEO Only" folding stock is about as much as the guns was itself, but I'd put one of those on, too.

Other side.

It started our as an 80% lone wolf frame that I must have milled the holes too low on.

>building a glock

Holy shit, that's a great idea. Did you do it part by part? How much money does that come out to, roughly?
>>
>>31095868
I figured out it is like building an AR, of which I have built over 7 already.

So it can be done on the cheap or not, I went all out and spent about 800-1000 on it all said and done, but it was fun. I did build it part by part and spring by spring, down to the locking block.

.45 acp clocks out at 1.24 rim thickness with the moon clips probably evening that out to 1.5, which wouldn't fit the revolver headspace being 1mm almost exactly. In which case I may as well just get .45 Colt and either swage or shave that down.
>>

I would like to know more. What are those made from?
>>
>>31094777
Nice, I'm building an AK63 kit I got from ak-builder. What are you going to use to finish your receiver? I'm about to heat treat mine, but I'm not sure what to use to finish it after that.

I don't suppose anyone has any insight on this, right?

What of a plastic casing with. 22cal wadcutter pellets in the center? It could make a pretty rad low-recoil DIY sabot.

*plastic bullet

No 80% kits your going to need to go at it from scratch, not reccomended unless you know what you are doing.1

Just started a spectre frame build myself - waiting on slide and barrel to get here. What sort of issues did you have with it?
>>
>>31097380
Been trying to find a place that sells slides before I start a spectre build.

Where'd you find yours, anon?
>>
>>31097380
I did not use a drill press and I believe I drilled the holes too low/close to bottom of the frame

I have a fucked up Russian 7.62x39 AK barrel that I'd like to turn into a .32 ACP barrel. From what I understand the .32 generally likes a 1:16 twist rate and my AK barrel is about 1:10. Could I still use it or is the twist rate too fast?
>>
>>31098809
Try plugging it in here http://www.bergerbullets.com/twist-rate-calculator/#

I see little reason you couldn't make some really weird wildcat with a heavy bullet and a relatively light charge

Debating on wether to change out my Winchester model 12 barrel with a trench gun barrel and turning it into a clone, or just selling the trench gun barrel and buying something else.
>>
>>31098961
Thanks. I did find a problem with the site tho, it will never tell you that your twist rate is too fast.
>>
>>31088925
Plenty of .355" and smaller tungesten fishing weights to be had
>>
>>31099080
Huh, you are right on that, I have no idea then. What did you mess up on it and what are you planing to do with it?

Absolutely ZERO reason to do that to an unmodified webley. It was pretty shitty in the first place. If he wanted to be a cheap ass while reloading for it he could trim .45colt brass.

Fuck ruining another webley cylinder, and fuck using.452" bullets in a.454-455" barrel
>>
>>31093526
That's super gay.

I would try contacting Bowen custom, Clark etc. They've done.41s before and Clark sometimes has customer take off and may still offer.41 bull barrels.

I know of at least one company that completely punches out GP100s to accept 10mm but idk how fuck up you mean by fucked barrel
>>
>>31099450
where and how much?
>>
>>31095855
Thinking about doing the same with a CCF frame, except cutting it down to a G19 grip. Possibly somehow adding super thin wood panels or veneer too it for Lulz
>>
>>31099450
Jesus tittyfucking Christ on a bike. I am harder than diamond right now.
>>
>>31099710
Yeah I am kicking around the idea of a G34 slide on a frame cut down to 26 size.

I haven't looked much in to it though and am not sure if the magazine angle is the same and what not though.
>>
>>31099409
Accidentally drilled a hole in the middle of it. I'm going to cut the part before the hole and use it for an AK pistol and use the other part as the 32 barrel I was talking about
>>
>>31099673
Canada and Free. My uncle had it, and when he started to loose the battle with cancer he made sure I got it. the original lower made the rifle illegal for me to own so he gave it to me to rebuild. I did get to shoot it before and it is a very light rifle. The original serial number was in the 300's.
>>
>>31099758
We'll you could possibly run .32H&R or .327federal bullets in it to get you between 95-115gr. Looks like you're either gonna have a minute of pie .32acp, a weird spy tier subsonic.32 that 50/50 case to bullet or maybe, just maybe a. 327federal....something
>>
>>31099817
The reason I wanted it as a .32 ACP is because I already have a 32 gun with a detachable barrel. I'd show you but don't have it with me now. I see people complaining about slow twist rates but rarely see people complaining about a twist rate that's too fast.
>>
>>31099755
There are a few of those kicking around online varying from awful to acceptable so it's possible at least
>>
>>31099843
Ah OK. Sounds like it could be a pretty neat project. I myself have a bit of a soft spot for the .32acp myself for some reason. I really want a Beretta Cheetah single stack with a target rib for a rabbit gun. I don't know why, other than knowing it was fun with a MkII so a cheetah would be awesome
