How many mags is too many?
>>
When you run out of room to properly store them.
>>
When you can't afford to keep them all full after a long ass day of shooting.
>>
No such thing as "too many" magazines
>>
>>31067193
'bout tree fiddy
>>
>>31067193

No such thing as too many. I have over 120 AR mags. Everything from beat to hell GI mags to brand new Pmags. I hardly ever shoot my ARs but its nice to have a veritable mountain of Magazines all fully loaded. Have just shy of 10,000 rounds of .223 and 5.56x45 as well.
>>
>>31067306

Jesus. How old are you and how many guns do you have that use that ammo?
>>
>>31067193
When you physically cant carry any more
>>
>>31067428

I'm 28. Most of my mags are GI mags that I used to buy new in the wrapper for $8 apiece. I have five ARs but almost never shoot them. The magazines and ammunition are more like an investment if I'm honest. The day may come where I simply can't buy it anymore.
>>
>>31067461

Jesus. What do you do? Flush with cash or just spend a lot on guns and ammo?

>>
>>31067193
how many can you carry? how many bullets do you have divided by thirty? the correct answer is, whichever of those two numbers is smaller.
>>
>>31067504

Where in Alaska? I'm a businessman in Seattle. I'm thinking about moving out with all the BS going on. Don't know about the cold weather though, but those gun laws. . .

Mat-Su Valley. Its pretty nice and the past several winters have been very mild. Didn't even need to plow the drive way once last year.

If you're going to be doing some actual ops when SHTF then you'll need about 10,000 but you should have about 2,000 to get you by if you plan on being innawoods during all happening situations.
>>

Dubs confirms three-hundred-fifty as "too many magazines"
>>
>>31067193
How many mags is too little?
>>
I've got 9 magazines. I feel woefully underprepared now. I'll remedy that soon. I am just waiting to see huge piles of pmags at the local shop.

I only have 1500 rounds of .223 + 5.56 though, so I'll probably just buy mags every time I buy ammo. Come to think of it, I really want to try those new magpul glock mags too.

This is one expensive hobby.

>>can't buy GI/surplus mags because california says they are high capacity.
Sure you can. You just have to have them shipped to Nevada, preferably in a town with casinos, and modify them before crossing back.
>>
>>31068003
I thought they won that 'originally manufactured as 10 rounds' case or passed that law.
>>
>>31068013
10 rounds is the maximum amount permitted by law, but they don't have to have been originally manufactured for 10 rounds. The law explicitly states that a magazine that has been "permanently modified" to accept no more than 10 rounds is legal. As for what permanent modification actually is, and the implied but unaddressed case of temporary modification, well, that's unclear. There's always the possibility you might be the one that gets to help determine that in court.
>>
>>31067962

Think of them as a hedge against future stupidity. An outright ban is pretty likely in our lifetimes. These magazines aren't just for yourself but your descendants.
>>

>>
>>31068495

It's a complete full court press on guns since they won the initiative to extend the "waiting period" on guns (which only applied to pistols).

It's all aimed to fill a UN initiative to disarm the United States before they carve us up.
>>
I'm happy with owning 11 AR mags and 4 handgun mags

When I was in the Army, I needed a magazine at one point. A staff sergeant said he had one. This dude takes me to his chu and upends one of like 4 boxes in his wall locker full of magazines. He had to have had hundreds. That's what I'd call too many.

No telling why he had that many, as he wouldn't really give me a straight answer, but I think once you've been in the Army long enough you kinda lose it anyway...

There's a point where you have more than you'll ever really use and it seems to me like it's a waste of money that could be spent elsewhere.
But buy however many you want, it's not like they run out because of a few people who want tons of them.
It's like me and ammo, I don't need thousands of round each for everything, but I just want it.

For the record, I think stripper clips are super fun to use. It's actually a big part of why I love using certain guns.
I also don't care for lugging 30rd mags around, especially not 762x39 since the mag angle makes it awkward in pockets.

I'm fucking with you. I bought a 20ga youth/compact 870 for waifu to trap/skeet shoot. She loves the thing. We started out with the AA reduced recoil loads and then went to regular game loads with no problem.

I knew if her first experience with a shotgun was with my 12 gauge that it would just piss her off and she wouldn't shoot with me again.

I figured you weren't that serious, but this board never ceases to surprise me. That was my first gun as a kid, got my first durr with it back in the 1990s.
I also brained my first coyote with it while deer hunting from well over 100 yards away. The uncle/friends took "Yote" to the bar that night and got into a huge argument with some PETAfags and ended up leaving on top of their vehicle when they left.
I usually give my pellet rifles to beginner shooters. 14.3-16gr @ ~900fps still makes a pretty good result downrange.

At the point in time when bullets can pass through the interdimensional walls. When firepower takes up the entirety and eternity of space and time, all being stuck in a neverending life and death cycle as bullets recover and destroy their bodies in quick succession. No one is able to think about anything but the sheer force of the bullets rapidly flying literally everywhere in the materium turning the warp itself into nothing but a sea of semi-automatic weaponry.. Then there will be enough mags. Or, at least almost.

gotta agree with this man, i firmly believe in the coming race war/water war/___(resource) war, as well as mass anarchy for whatever reason. and i have 10 mags for my AR, 3 for my side and about 69 shells of assorted stuffs.
i really want a good.22 and a good .300 and that's all maybe 1000 rouns for the .22 and 1 to 200 for the .300 thats all. enough to arm my family together with their guns.

only what I can carry in case i have to try and make it out of the country and its all out madness.

>>
>>31071742
Enuff dakka is impossible to attain.

If we define dakka as the act of firing a gun at a target, or using energy to propel a damaging mass, then producing more or bigger guns will increase dakka. However, if the amount of mass and energy in the universe is finite, then there's a limit. If there is a target, its mass could be added to the projectile, meaning more dakka is possible. If all matter is propelled by all energy then there's no target and dakka cannot occur. So enuff dakka is impossible.

No such thing, I'm active duty army and keep "finding" mags that go into my personal stores.

I'm behind enemy lines and I have 18 mags for my AR*. I keep 8 loaded in my chest rig, 4 empty in a battle belt and 6 on a shelf.
I've only got 300 rounds of m855 left in boxes, the 8 loaded mags are full of m193. I'm gonna buy 1000 rds of m193 for Black Friday/New Years, because right now I need to save for college. I have a full LPK and a spare AR upper as well as a few 80% receivers that I need to mill out soon. Once I put together the second rifle I will be a lot happier.

TLDR I want more mags and ammo but my parents get pissed when I spend money on guns because I need to save money for college.

The answer to the how many is too many, for both mags and ammo, is none. You buy what you can afford and store.
