The NBA is majority black due to the fact that basket ball is mainly played in low income communities where the majority of inhabitants are black. Also, yes in a way blacks do have a physical advantage in basketball. Blacks tend to be taller than whites and, since height is critical component in playing basketball, make up the majority of the players. Blacks also have a physical/genetic advantage in running too. The ACTN3 gene is gene that only occurs in Sub-saharan West African blacks, and it codes for muscles to have stronger, faster contractions than usual.

SF is majority whites for the same reason that the NBA/sprinting is majority black, due to genetic differences in the races.

I one saw a British TV show, where athletes and random clods are put through training by special forces instructors. On the Navy SEALs episode, a 50 year old woman passed while a late 20s black athlete (seen on the left) failed.

The black guy was failed because he couldn't keep up with his team on the log exercises, despite being the biggest guy there (this is at least what the instructor said). I theorized that it was the cold that got to him. His african body is meant to be in 40C weather, but he was in 4C temperatures and getting wet and windblasted on top of it.

Special Forces / Special Operations types tend to meet a much higher bar in terms of mentality and theory compared to the standard grunt. It's not about talent or intelligence, but knowing HOW to conceptualize and apply new ideas. Somebody with average intelligence could do SF/SOF provided they had the necessary resilience factors and an educational background that lets them make good use of what they have.

It worked, and I did get my money's worth out of the GI bill for education, which is good because my legs were too busted for me to keep contracting for more that a couple years after I left the service, but the highlights of my service are all firefights where I didn't lose friends and we had a good killing.

Killing is exhilarating, being so much better trained and equipped that 8 men can maneuver on and destroy a 40 man ambush before support arrives is a high you can't find anywhere else.

Besides my knees, I got out because the changes in ROE and enemy tactics denied us the opportunity to close with and destroy the enemy, at the same time it made any particular engagement more dangerous for me and my men. Sure, those same rules probably saved the lives of a bunch of truck drivers, but they made us be more likely to be in blast range and let us do less about an attack.
