The Rex was originally designed as a covert mobile nuclear launch platform in order to perform long-range strikes with nuclear weapons without being detected by contemporary missile early warning systems.

It was not meant to be a tactical support/offensive weapon because Otacon decided it needed "character flaws" like needing to use its ginormous radome in order to have the pilot not need to stick his fucking head out of the cockpit for some yokel with a blunderbuss to shoot him in the face.

Pretty much the only way we will have mechs on the field is if some government with more money than sense decides it needs a weapon for intimidation, only to find out that it's really easy to take out said weapon for intimidation by shooting it in the fucking kneecaps.

Anything from MGS can be instantly disregarded, from the tranvestite vampire enemies, to the nuclear mechs, to the faggoty twink characters jumping around dodging bullets with a sword and everything in between. They aren't terrible games because of gameplay or controls(actually that isn't true, the first couple suck dick for having a set camera angle) they suck because they're so full of "quirky japanese humor"(ie: oddities and gay shit that drastically underscore any remaining Japanese masculinity) that they're on par with anime for high levels of retardation, probably why noguns and aniboos love them.

MGS1 and 2 were designed for exactly for those camera angles, it worked perfectly. MGS3 was the only fuckup since the zones were too large and enemies would be outside your view, but Subsistence that fixed with a free camera
