it has to have been registered prior to the Hughes Amendment ban.

good luck, they're the most expensive pieces of metal in the world.

Why does it seem like a criminal who really, really wanted an automatic weapon would have no trouble forging one if it's that small and simple?
>>
>>31050788
They wouldn't. But fully automatic weapons aren't terribly useful for the typical criminal application so no one bothers to make them.

You can always ask the ATF but better to ask forgiveness than permission right?
>>
>>31050788
Full auto is pretty useless for anything a criminal will be doing with guns. The reality of gun control is that it has everything do do with restricting the serfs' capability to resist the state and nothing to do with crime.

So there isn't necessarily a legal issue surrounding auto sears, but more of a legal issue of having an auto sear and a firearm into which it could be installed.

So it is perfectly legal to purchase and own an auto sear provided that you don't own the firearm for which it was designed. For instance, you could own an M16/M4 auto sear as long as you don't own an AR rifle, since that AR rifle can be modified to accept the autosear. This is constructive possession, but moreover actually a fully-assembled machine gun according to the ATF (silly, I know).

But here's the kicker: most people think that all you need is the piece of metal you have in your image, but that is simply not true. Select fire M16/M4s have a special hammer and selector (3 or 4 position with special cuts in it), and trigger+disconnector (and hammer if you want 3rnd burst) that accommodate the use of an auto sear. Not to mention, one needs to physically modify the lower receiver to install an auto sear- a third hole, and milling out the rear area of the trigger pocket. So you can see there is more to select fire than just a single piece of metal- why owning one and an AR is illegal is beyond me, since you need other parts and a milling machine in order to make it work.

b-but hillary said it was common sense!

They just care about our safety, right? like a close friend? The mayor of our town said that "he can't sleep at night" when he thinks of the "weapon problem". he must REALLY be concerned about the children.

our government must really care.

>>31050983
THIS!!!!
Gun control is people control thinly veiled with the bodies of children and voices of politicians

Geargetown is cool though. Good coin dealer over there.

You want to go with the new double-shot triggers, particularly the Echo trigger.

MAC guy was actually able to fire his AR-15 so quick with a binary trigger that he was getting follow-home malfunctions. That means he was cooking his AR up above 900 or 1000 rpm equivalent. Faster than normal full auto.

These are legal and hitting the market now or shortly, and the Echo I think is the cheaper and more effective of them.

And more controllable than full auto, and a more enjoyable (and organic?) rat-tat-tat.

im not plugging anyone in particular here, its just that its a 99% better way to approach Rapid Fire in my opinion than trying to go bona-fide full auto.

In fact I think these double-shot triggers may be even better than full auto rock and roll. Its more controllable, precise, and friendlier on your ammo supply.

US Mil could learn a thing or two from this.

OP was asking about a pinned autosear, not a drop-in autosear.

Drilling the hole for the pinned autosear in your lower is manufacturing a machine gun. Possession of a drop-in autosear is also illegal. Possession of a pinned autosear by itself is legal.
>>
>>31051802
Holy fuck, just looked into the echo trigger. Looks awesome. Fostech isn't shipping until December. The final price for the trigger will be $480. Worth it?
>>
>>31052128
probably $2.00 of metal... $3.00 fabrication Cool idea = Priceless
>>
>>31052128
Different guy here:

Have shot a lot out of the franklin armory BFS which is similar. Its worth it if you want to burn up ammo
>>

Are there Texas /k/ meet ups, I'm moving out to College station in about a month.
>>
>>31050663
You have to buy one that was registered prior to May 19, 1986 for it to be legal to possess and transfer.
>>
>>31052307
>>31052128

Franklin Armoury Binary Fire System comes in at a minimum of $750 I believe

And a Slide Fire Stock (which is such a meme at this point) may run $250-500. Plus that replaces your stock.

But all of these options pale in comparison to trying to become a Class 3 FFL and get your hands on a modern machinegun.

That $480 includes a new bolt too, totally worth it for the fun to be had.

consider the fact that at the time 200 dollars was a shit ton of money, something like a hefty down payment on a brand new car today.

New bolt carrier with gas key, you still have to supply the bolt IIRC.

Are there states where one can build a FA firearm for themselves as long as it's not manufacture or being sold?

>>31056836
Nigga, that shit's restricted on a federal level.
>>
>>31056836
If no one knows, you don't have it
>>
>>31056836
yes, but its still illegal on the federal level.
>>
>>31056896

Don't forget:

16 USC §707, 50 CFR §§20.21(a) & 20.11(a) make it a federal crime to hunt doves and pigeons with a machine gun or a "stupefying substance."
>>
>>31050663
>>31051031

Pretty much this OP, but tl;dr:

Owning a rifle AND the parts to make it automatic actually makes it a machine gun in the eyes of the ATF, and if you don't have the paperwork you're going to prison.

Many of those parts were separately registered as machine guns themselves, even though they're not lower receivers, and that's where I get lost in the ATF nonsense.
