CAN'T WAKE UP edition

Parliament will be back in session soon. 10/22 mags have been nerfed; I wonder what's next?
>>

>what's next?

Widespread non-compliance.
>>
>>31047204
Maybe for you, but some of us have lives outside of firearms and don't want to go to jail.
>>
>>31047550

The RCMP isn't going to be kicking down doors looking for mags. People will keep using them and nothing will happen. Hopefully if some fudd calls the cops on someone, there will be a court challenge.

Also what do you guys think about the BLACKED channel of the NRA?

According to the ATR website, FMJ should be alright, as long as it's decent FMJ:

>this rifle works best with BTHP, polymer tipped and FMJ bullets and does NOT work well with lead tipped, all lead, round nose or other soft point bullets.

>These rifles have a MATCH GRADE barrel and chamber, they do NOT function well with certain ammo. We have found high quality match factory ammo or handloads are best.

I read some of the thread on CGN, and they suggest that harder milsurp primers may not fire as reliably, as they use a match trigger vs. a milspec one.
>>
>>31050235
yea but why are you buying an expense rifle if all youre doing is plinking shit ammo

you could accomplish the same thing for <1/2 the price with a browning BAR.

if it's a case of
>because i think it's cool/want it
thats fine, you can own up to it. just curious to know the real answer.
>>
>>31050142
judging from their posts on CGN, it's a finicky bench queen with tacticool aesthetics
>what's the point on a 4k NR AR if you will be spending 99% of your time with it, precision shooting paper at the range anyway? just get a Daniel Defence AR with every bell and whistle available for half that price

might as well get a quality bolt action for half the price that will be twice as accurate, if you want precision bench shooting

or some NR semi for a third of the price and have half as accurate but thrice as reliable platform for plinking inna woods

Generally speaking, it's illegal for any mail or parcels to blatantly display or mention firearms.

However, I'm pretty sure that's only for federal mail (ie. Canada Post). If it's through a private courier like UPS or CanPar, I think there's more leeway.

>>
>>31052069
It would be perfect.

>you only want military and police to have guns? You mean like Nazi Germany, a country that killed ethnic and religious minorities?

If CanadaAmmo were more subtle about their packaging, they would be perfect.

First time I bought from them, they gave me a notepad and an AR-15 shaped pen. Second time I bought from them, I didn't buy as much, but they still gave me a PEN-15.
>>
>>31052166
Those pens are shit tho. I have a bunch of them. Can am has mostly been pretty good about the packaging, the last grizzly I bought from them had the barrel sticking out of the box a few inches though. My last package from marstarr was 6 high cap steel magazines and the ahitty paper envelope they were is split open and all the mags poured out during shipping. I did get them all though, good mailmen that day. I have bought from tactical imports and they just put a couple lines with a sharpie through words on the box my skorpion came in. If anyone knew what zastava or skorpion were they would know for sure what was in there.

I am a very private person. I don't like talking about myself or my interests with other people, at least non-anonymously. My neighbours don't need to know that I like guns, just as much as they don't need to know what anime I'm watching this season. Have 3 offers to buy one of my pistol. Buyer 1 asked a question which I've answered. Would it be bad practice to not wait for Buyer 1's response and go right ahead and contact Buyer 2?
>>
>>31052808
You go with the first person that commits to a buy, if you cant contact them in 24h for payment/pal info it goes to the next one.
Loads of people will ask a question and then never respond back.
Lastly update your ad with a SPF(sold pending funds) so you don't have a million people asking shit while you sort out payment with the buyer.
>>
>>31052808
As someone who used to regularly buy/sell/trade electronics on craigslist, it's generally good practice to communicate with all interested buyers.

It makes no sense to ignore your other buyers just because one guy had your attention first. The first guy might not even buy your damn pistol.

When you've found the ideal buyer, you close the deal with him/her, then sent a polite message to your other buyers saying that the item sold, and that you're sorry for the bad news, and thank them for their interest.
>>
>>31052858

Buyer 2 says he'll take it. Do I tell the other buyer's that they're second, third etc in line?
>>
>>31052924
If you want to, imo its better not to. Just means more work for you. On chance the buyer bails you can always contact them later and ask.

>>31052924
>Do I tell the other buyer's that they're second, third etc in line?

>>
>>31052924
I've actually experimented with that, and it's not a good idea.

think about how long youre going to own this gun and how much time youre going to spend behind the trigger. think of it like a car - vehicle expenses are based on price per mile. gun expenses are based on price per shot. you have to account for the cost of ammo, initial cost of the gun and optic, plus any misc costs for cleaning and maintenance equip.

if you buy a gun that can last 10000 rounds, youre coming out ahead than buying a shittier gun every 1000 rounds. but some ppl dont put 1000 rounds through their gun in a lifetime; those people are who these cheap guns are marketed towards.

Edmonton area here, a 15 year old ganster Wannabe threatened to bear mace me, send rez gangs and HA after me and mulitple other people, and threatened to kill a friend and his pregnant girlfriend, have all the evidence still, going to his gram grams house where he lives to confront him with the the guy and girls whos kid he threatened kill, now heres the point of my post, we all know adults cant harm minors, but does that change when there be 10+ instances of threat of violence/bodily harm, shown hell use weapons, and has pictures with said weapons threatening to use them? Just wondering just in case, hopefully showing up unannounced at his grandmas place does more than beating him
>>
>>31060549
Canadian law is pretty clear on this- you can't just beat him up- minor or adult- because he has made threats (even with weapons).

If he attacks you or others, you can use force to stop the attack- but once the attack has been stopped, you need to stop using force.

Having said all that, I don't think an angry confrontation is a good idea. Try a sympathetic conversation with the grandmother- make it sound like you're worried the kid has fallen in with the wrong crowd, and show her the threats against the pregnant woman.

Or just call the cops and have them deal with the problem.

>>
>>31062483
He had trigger locks on all of his guns.

When the boleez came, he showed them his Stack-On cabinet, which contained his trigger-locked firearms, and some ammunition. They thanked him for his time, and left.
>>
>>31062516
Why did the police wish to inspect his stuff in the first place?
>>
>>31062541
He lived in a house that was rented out separately.

He rented the bottom floor, and a different family rented the top floor of the house.

One of the tenants apparently had schizophrenia and threatened to kill his dad, so 911 was called, and a domestic disturbance was reported.

The RCMP, knowing that there is a PAL holder and a handgun registered to that address, rushed the fuck over there, because domestic disturbance + guns = "holy dogshit, we better actually do our jobs properly"

They were able to subdue the crazy guy, and they started asking about the guns. Then they figured out that my friend is a separate tenant, so they went downstairs to bother him at oh-god o'clock. They asked him to show them how he was storing his firearms, so he showed them his Stack-On cabinet in his closet, then they fugged off.

If you and your neighbour live in separate detached houses, and you have different addresses, it's not gonna happen to you.

The only reason it happened to my friend was because his address was technically the same as the upstairs tenants. They literally lived in the same house, they were just rented separately.
>tfw pizza deliveries and parcels were a pain in the ass for them
>>
>>31063602
Only restricted and prohibited class firearms are legally required to be trigger-locked or action-locked in a safe.

Technically, non-restricted firearms don't require locking, but most people lock them anyway.
>>
>>31063644
Legal, non restricted and even exempt from the 5 round cap because they cant be pinned.
>>
>>31063644
Yes.

I even bought one a few weeks ago, but then I had to return it because the seller didn't care about his customers' safety.
>>
>>31063779
you're mixing up your ANDs and your ORs

Restricted can be stored unloaded in a SAFE or VAULT without trigger/action lock. if it's in a CABINET or CONTAINER, it needs trigger lock on top of being in a locked in there.

Non-Restrocted can be stored unloaded without a trigger lock if they're locked inside any of these: cabinet, container, safe or vault
OR they can be trigger/action locked and stored outside a locked container
you can never store Non-Restricted outside of a locked container and without a trigger lock, you need one or the other or both
>best to trigger lock your restricted even if they're in a safe and store your non-restricted in a cabinet at a minimum.
>trigger-locked and under your bed for NR is technically ok, but it's better to do more than bare legal minimum

see >>31063645 again
>>
>>31063895
Fair enough, I'll concede that I was confused by the wording, and from how it was explained to me in the past.

But at least I do understand why so many people use trigger locks, even if they're not required to. Seems like they do it for reassurance more than anything.
>>
Anyone got advice for someone looking to get into guns?

Im a bit of a Prepper so I want to get a gun. My current plan is to get my unrestricted license, then buy an SKS and take it out for practice frequently at a range. That way I have a reliable rifle with relatively cheap ammo and it doesn't need to be registered. My current story as to why I want to get into shooting is that I like target shooting. (its true, but only half the reason. People would laugh or think iam a weirdo if I mentioned the prepping stuff)

but is there more I should know?
>>
>>31064262
absolutely, it's it's always best to double up on security and go above the minimum requirements where you are able
>>
>>31064277

You don't need to have a story, they don't ask "what do you want a gun for" on your application or anything.

Take the CFSC course, it's easy if you're not a retard. Pay attention and you'll learn some stuff.

Fill out your application paperwork correctly. Wait a month or two. Acquire gun, have fun.
>>
My system personally is
>Heavy, thick wooden cabinet with a lock
>All long guns inside have trigger or cable locks on them
>All handguns are up top, in their locked cases with locks on the guns inside as well
>>
>>31064374
>they don't ask "what do you want a gun for" on your application or anything.
It is one of the possible interview questions that they ask the references.

When my friend was interviewed for my PAL application, they asked him what I was planning on using guns for.

But then again, that anon said he was doing Non-Restricted only, and the chances of an interview being required goes down significantly.
>>
>>31064403

Weird. I got my RPAL in the mail a few days ago, they didn't ask me anything. I called in to make sure everything was in order, she asked for my personal info (birthplace, etc.) and told me my references could call in if I wanted to speed things up.

They just asked her if i was insane or violent or a danger to society, not why i wanted a gun.
>>
>>31064374
>>31064403
Thanks. Iam coming from a place of ignorance here. I was never pro gun when I was younger, but two years back I went to a firering range with a friend and we both rented a gun and some ammo. It was fun, and now that i have income I want to get into it. None of my friends actually shoot though. So I am concerned that many might also be very anti gun. Not a problem for me. I actually do have many leftist friends, but very few of them are actually anti-gun. Most of them or neutral or light-anti. I'm waiting on my CFSC instructor friend to let me peek at what he's got for sale. In the meantime I want to buy something because I'm restless and impatient but it has to be cheap, because I'm going to blow most of my budget on my primary rifle and pistol.

Rather than removing bad people, they would much rather change them to be good people.

Thing is, that kind of mindset only works for petty crime, like shoplifting and vandalism. You can't fucking fix a murderer or rapist. Speaking of which, they literally let a rapist go free in Vancouver, because he's been doing time and they've been looking after him. correct

people who say ontario is a liberal/immigrant containment zone are just wagecucks who can't afford to live in the wealthy areas. the upper echelon of society is mostly conservative white men who own guns for sport shooting at a minimum

Did it in a weekend. It's easy if you're not an idiot. I probably studied more than I needed to, but I got something like 96% on the test. Would have been a perfect score if I hadn't made one tiny mistake in the practical exam. Can't comment on the hunting course though.

Your asking this on an anonymous message board. Of course most people here wouldn't tell anyone they own firearms.

>canadian gun culture
Doing its best to thrive within the ever-at-risk parameters set out both by elected and unelected authorities

>general canadians view of canadian gun owners
It really depends. In rural areas you'll find a lot more support, or at the very least indifference. In big cities you'll find some hasguns who go out hunting sometimes, but mostly you'll find noguns with attitudes that lean toward the restrictive side e.g. "hunting and target shooting are fine but nobody NEEEEEEEEEEDS hi-capacity salt wepons"

And then there's my sister
>already knows that i have a bunch of guns
>tell her about my latest purchase, a Marlin 795

Need more people like this bros. Most people are not informed about gun laws, restrictions, and all they see is gang shootings on the news. If people saw more responsible/most gun owners, I bet they would be less likely to ban stuff.
I mean come on, most people think an AR 15 is an assualt rifle.

you have to declare everything (or not)

the bigger issue is what can you bring over in accordance with ITAR
>>
>>31065323
as an albertan it's something actually.
>>
>>31066248
First of all be wary when it comes to listening to advice on what you can bring back to Canada on the internet. If you get in trouble you cant say "but i read online"
From what I gather any gun related part or gun is regulated by ITAR. ITAR only affects people on US soil or doing business in US.

So, lets say you buy a gun related part in USA, you have to declare EVERYTHING at the border, and Canada guards will just tax you if its over 100 dollars and let you go because ITAR is not a Canadian Law.
But let say the ATF randomly pulls you over or in and they find out you are trying to take a gun part from US and into Canada without the proper import taxes. Well, your life is pretty much fucked cause they could jail you for 10 years, or fine you a million dollars, or both. Depends on how good your lawyer is.

Honestly, it's not worth the risk. Just buy it through an importer like Aztech Armory, irunguns, Cabela's, or Brownells.

ITAR is not something you want to fuck with. It covers anything from guns to nuclear weapons. Stupid I know but that's just the way it is.

I hope what i wrote makes sense. Import/Export stuff is confusing af and hard to communicate. Hence, why there is a lot of confusion with it.
>>
>>31066401
ITAR is why most american shops won't ship to Canada. They dont want to deal with the hassles and fines.
>>
>>31066298
>implying ITAR has stopped anyone, ever.
>>
>>31062010
For non-restricted PAL they don't check shit. My two references never bothered to pick up the phone when they saw an out-of province number, despite me explicitly telling them the time frame of when the RCMP was going to call. Still got my PAL in my mailbox in exactly 35 days, which considering the 28 day statutory wait period and Canada Post taking 5 days to deliver, is pretty damn good.
>>
>>31066401
Wait, Cabela's USA ships to Canada?
>>
>>31058502
I literaly came out as a gun owner to my father. He seemed surprised but sportive. He's ex-army and respects guns as tools not scary things that load themselves in the night; though he's never had an interest in owning any himself. His wife's American who grew up around guns and who wavers between mildly pro-gun and mildly anti-gun.

I'm not sure how I'm going to come out to my mother though.
>>
>>31066423
"Sir you know you are violating ITAR regulations"

"B-but someone on 4chan told me it was a meme"
>>
>>31066611
They have a Canadian site which basically has all the shit they can ship to canada without paying for crazy high taxes for ITAR.
>>
>>31065079

I love Quebec women, food, and industry, but Jesus holy balls your government is always the most cancerous shit in the entire nation. Even worse then a West Vancouver city bylaw planning council.

If they aren't shitting on gun owners, then they're in bed with the mob, or threatening to separate for more money from the feds, or in bed with literal anarcho-communists.

Quebec government bullshit is why we don't have property rights enshrined in the charter; Trudeau Jr. even referenced it in response to the petition. Not having property rights means we got fucked when the other provinces sued the feds during the first gun ban. It's the reason the Quebec gun registry is happening again. They're also the reason for the not-withstanding clause that makes our constitution a joke.

Fuck Quebec government, provincial & municipal, now and fucking forever.
>>
>>31066874
Cabela's Canada is priced about 15% higher than what you can find if you shop around online though. The only excuse to buy there is if the Canada Post strike happens.
>>
>>31066810
I've violated ITAR plenty of times. I'm more at risk of getting my parcels seized when I buy drugs off the Darknet to be honest.
>>
>>31067092
>if the Canada Post strike happens.
In that case, you can still shop anywhere, just choose an alternate shipping option.

A good number of times, UPS/Canpar/etc. are cheaper than choosing Canada Post.

>And under so much pressure when the dindu breaks in, you don't have to focus on hitting your 5 shots. With a shotgun you just have to aim in the dindu's general direction.

You still have to aim. The spread of a shotgun at the ranges inside a house will be minimal.

Sup guys?
I bough a TT-33 yesterday and it was the last one they had in the store. Problem is it only had one mag with it.

So not I am attempting to find 3 more (Preferably Russian) mags. Any advice when it comes to Canadian online vendors?
>>
>>31068199
Russian may be hard to come by.
Corwin arms has newer production mags for a decent price.
Otherwise look on tradex or EE.

Make sure you don't get mags that are meant for the M57 or whatever. It's got a longer grip frame, and uses taller mags

New fag here. Just bought my first rifle. Do I need to oil this thing before I shoot it or do they usually come pre oiled from factory? Looks kinda like its oiled already but want to be sure
>>
>>31068855
Its a good idea to clean them. The factory grease is more of a corrosion protector and can become thick or hardened in storage which can cause jams.

If its a surplus rifle clean the fuck outta it theres often grease/cosmoline blocking the barrel, gasblock, firing pin etc. All of which can cause some pretty serious malfunctions.
