How'd I do ?? Also, new gun general.
>>31015895
for future reference, its called "recent acquisitions thread"
>>31015918
got it.
newfag problems.
prolly should lurkmoar but I like to participate.
How much did you pay? XDs are meh tier guns. They go bang reliably enough I suppose. I couldnt get past the trigger though. Others will complain about the grip safety and high bore axis.
>>31015938
The grip safety is kinda annoying. Paid around 500, I forget what it was exactly
>>31015966
Thats pretty high. PSA was selling them for $399. I sold a used one for $300. So long as you enjoy it though.
>>31015999
damn.
nice trips tho
Picked this up yesterday from Cabela's for $250 out of pocket (someone gave me $200 gift card and all used guns were 10% off that day).
Absolutely love it.
>>31016250
Yikes, that's an expensive holster. Why did they mark up the shitty factory Sig plastic junk holster so much? Don't these come free with P320 pistols?
National postal meter, all matching and original minus the sling and mag pouch. Came with three 15 round mags and four 30 round mags, and some ammo.
>>31015895
much better than a glock, but grip safety = retarded. not bad, not great.
>>31017125
To each his own, but I fucking hate the XD series. My friend lent me his XD in .40 and I have only shot a magazine through it. They're ugly as sin too.
Colt Official Police, .38 Special. $430
>>31017726
Man that's a nice looking gun.
Don't listen to /k/ telling you the XD is a bad gun... A grip safety was good enough for JMB its good enough for you. Love my Mod. 2.
>inb4 GRIP ZONE
>>31017967
The grip zone keeps me from ever buying one.
>>31015934
>actually owns a gun
no, please post more. id rather have newfags than guns than old fags who have been here 10 years but still dont have enough gbp to buy a gun
>>31018209
This
My first gun. Hooray.
>>31018209
So buy a first gen xd. Honestly I would trade my original xd9 for a GRIPZONE mod2 in a heartbeat, and cover the GRIPZONE with the rubber talon grip that all my handguns get. They're fantastic shooters.
>>31015895
Got a glock last week.
>>31017967
This. My XD45 Compact was the first and most comfy gun i'd owned. Reliable and comfy so I was happy.
>Grip Zone
idk wtf they were thinking with that retarded shit. just awful idea.
>>31018209
Haha is that seriously on the fucking gun? Looks like some shit from an overpriced 5-blade razor or a golf club or some shit.
>>31018638
It's a friendly reminder of where to put your hands when firing. You know, in case you forget.
Got a Glock 19 gen 3 two weeks ago (first gun).
Now I'm craving buying a bolt-action rifle as my next gun, with a wood stock
>>31018841
>Now I'm craving buying a bolt-action rifle as my next gun, with a wood stock
If you're not used to big bolt action rifles, get something in the .223 Remington range to start with.
If you go right to some .300 win mag monster you'll probably develop a flinch, or otherwise regret it.
>>31018894
that's what people keep telling me :^/
I really want a rifle chambered in .30-06, but I should probably rent one at the range first.
But you're right, the smart thing to do would be to start in a smaller caliber
>havnt gotten anything new in a year
life is suffering
>>31015895
I have an XD45 that I am very fond of. Springfield makes reliable pistols that shoot well. In several years of ownership I have had zero FTF or FTE or any problem whatsoever with it. Good guns.
>>31015895
Is that a grip safety/10
Return it now and get a Glock 17. Learn from this mistake.
>>31018209
>>31018209
This as well as giant annoying "LOADED WHEN UP" and "ALWAYS READ SAFETY MANUAL FIRST BEFORE OPERATING A FIREARM" are instant boner kills for any gun
serial number, gun manufacturer logo only please.
>>31019120
>"LOADED WHEN UP"
I can't stand loaded chamber indicators of any kind for that matter.
When i disabled the one on my ruger Mk.III I went ahead and filed off the "loaded chamber indicator" text using high grit abrasive (400 grit progressing up to 2500).
Felt good man.
Pic is before the alteration but same gun.
Picked up a px4 with my bonus.
Bought it Friday. Took it home, broke it down, Saturday I ran 350 rounds through it , Tuesday I rand another 350 rounds through it. Tonight I ran 300 rounds .
1000rds of 40s&with in a week. No failures.
The recoil is weird. It took me about 300 rounds to get used to it. But now I am getting 3" 17 round groups at 15yds, shooting like I will in matches.
Although for matches I will not be using 180gn full power loads. But .40 lite loads . I am working on a 180 and 165 grain loads that will have a PF of about 128-130. If I can find some I'll try some 200gn low power loads.
I will be shooting this in ipsc production matches.

The LCI on the CZ 75 BD Police that I have is actually great. There's no text, just a pin that sticks out of the top of the slide when there's a round in the chamber. It's immediately visible when you bring the sights up and its also tactile so you can feel it in the dark. As far as I'm concerned, theres no reason not to have one.
>>31021326
There are plenty of reasons why someone wouldn't want one. They are required on handguns in California, which is absurd. If it is a feature you want, cool, but don't promote this nonsense.
>>31021503
Aside from being upset about laws requiring them and concerns about aesthetics, why would you prefer not to have a LCI?
>>31017726
I bought this .357 Colt trooper for $250 the other day. Made in 1966 same hand fit lockwork as a python lol.
>>31018480
That's one hell of a first gun! What do you think? I've heard nothing but good things about those. Been wanting to get my hands on one.
>>31015895
I have the subcompact model. It's my EDC. I love it. I've got some night sights on it, and put in an aftermarket pinky extension. It's SWEET. Nice trigger, and plenty accurate, too. You did good, anon. You did good.
>>31018480
>first gun
>Sphinx
goddam anon, nice choice.
>>31021326
>As far as I'm concerned, theres no reason not to have one.
>>31021556
In the case of my ruger mkiii that I posted above, the LCI caused serious feeding issues. With the LCI the gun malfunctioned about 2-4 times per 100 rounds (gun malfs, not counting shitty ammo misfires). With the LCI disabled, it hasn't malfunctioned yet, and I've put 650 rounds through it since then.
>>31024902
The LCI on my Mk. III has never caused any loading issues luckily, but it is particularly intrusive and ugly. Ruger is among the worst with lawyer warnings, I may get one of those metal plugs that removes the LCI entirely. That being said, I still haven't seen any compelling reasons why a well designed, unobtrusive LCI is undesirable on a pistol.
>>31026196
Yeah i think the LCI on those guns is hit or miss in terms of feed issues. Someone on here was saying the 22/45 is more sensitive than the standard model, but i'm not sure.
As for replacing the LCI with the metal plug, that was my backup plan in case I fucked up the sanding on my stock LCI (it's super easy to disable mechanically). After sanding the letters smooth, the LCI insert is a matte color that I think looks good so i'm gonna leave it be.
And I agree that a well designed and unobtrusive LCI can be desirable. I am trying to remember what gun it was, some old turn of the century semi auto pistol i think, that indicated a loaded chamber by lowering an obstruction of the rear sight.
So basically, if you could look down the rear sight clearly, the chamber was loaded. If a small metal post was obstructing your view, you knew the chamber was empty. I kind of liked that idea and I wonder why it never took off.
Not new but it's new to me.

I dislike grip safeties as well, but that is still a good gun, congrats OP
My new carry gun.
>>31026728
>>31026724
.40 S&W hadn't really taken off yet, and they wanted .41 AE to take off, so they probably threw in the box of .41 AE and the conversion kit so that more pistols would be on the market chambered for their new cartridge, and included the 9mm conversion so that people wouldn't worry their pistol would be unuseable if .41 AE flopped (see why .41 Remington Mag and .327 Federal Mag sell less) amd so that the end user would be able to practice with cheaper 9mm.
>>31026745
Love the old IMI logo on the grips.
That's funny, I just picked up an XD9 for $400 in Commiefornia. I like the trigger better than anything else I've fired, besides SA hammer fired pistols.
I already had an SD9VE for my wife but she likes the XD more than I do so she's keeping it.
Now I'm trying to trade the SD9 for a Remington 783 in 308
>>31017174
Nice, those are rare. I just got a set of parts to assemble a rockola. The serial numbers won't match unfortunately but it's still cool

You're likely to get a lot of hate from /k/ because of "MUH GRIP SAFETY" (they dont mind when its on a 1911 though). That said, you bought a decent mid-tier pistol with some decent features. I always thought they looked and felt a little cheap, but you get what you pay for and functionally its as solid a choice as any other modern pistol in its price range.
Mismatched Lee Enfield No. 4, $350 yea/nay?
What should I be aware of?
