Since you are considering it in the first place I'll assume that you dont care about the historic aspect so I'll lay it out in financial and practical terms.

The cost of the rifle plus those expensive bullpup kits would buy you a functioning AR, not an improvised bullpup with sketchy mags. You gain nothing by doing it. Just enjoy your sks and buy a different rifle.

Get the sksar kit not the sg works tapco shit.

Sksar has a Janky butt, but it's mostly aluminum. The cover for the butt stock is polymer, I don't like it personally, but it holds up well.

Ever since they came out with forward/downward ejection bullpups I haven't liked side ejecting designs. It's a feature that should exist on all bullpups imo. The kel tec RDB is supposedly going to be coming out in 7.62x39, same with the desert tech MDR. We're really in the beginning stages of getting good bullpups, it's a waiting game and it sucks but it'll definitely be worth it. I can't say the same for some second hand kit on a 70 year old gun. If you got money to blow and think it's cool go for it, i can see the appeal I just don't know about the reliability.

has anyone made a successful Groza replica from a bullpup AK-74? The only part I could see being difficult is the sights/carry handle.

When I was researching this, most of the vids I could find on CBR was of their shit breaking after it was installed. The Shernic kit is very solid. The trigger pull is similar to a double action revolver, or DAO semi if you've ever shot one.

But based on historic value, and the rifle being a nice fucking gun stock, it just feels wrong to condone your decision. Butcher a Mini-14, no one will miss that.
And it would probably be more comfortable with 5.56mm

What? AK's and a majority of their cousins are prohibited here, bullpup or otherwise. You're probably thinking of the Type 97, which has absolutely nothing to do with the AK platform.

Op here i would love to do a wood stock mod but i have neither the time nor the tools atm to be doing it. I would love to do morita build but mini's arnt cheap around where i live and i think you need a extended barrel for the movie design. Thanks to all that has contributed info have a good day. If there is anymore advice on these kits please feel free to post it
