Hey guys, would you recommend for close quarter home defense? I think it'd be kinda cool...
only if you get sweet cowboy hat to go with it

Dont get a brass frame. They wear out faster. Probably not much of an issue on an 1858 but the colt navy brass frames they make are shit. if you get steel you can convert it to .45lc too.
No. I have one. It's fun, but I wouldn't rely on it.

No. Its definitely better than nothing, but significantly worse than a hipoint.

>DON'T JUST STAND THERE, COME IN

are you a confederate or a magpie? brass frames only are worth if you don't have metal or into shiny things

Hey David. How's bobo doing?
>>31009687
Well maybe you ask ironically, but be advised that it's the best option most of us yuropoors are given.
I actually trust my life with a Pietta 1858 New Army, with some sweet .454 balls and a chamber full of bp.
Learn how to craft paper cartridges, learn what your gun likes best, get proficient with it.
Voila, you're a cowboy.
They aren't the first choice obviously but it could be worse. If you are serious about the home defense aspect, you can leave the revolver loaded without rusting because the cap and ball make an air tight seal. Make sure you are proficient with it because unless you swap cylinders there's only 6 shots.

Honestly?
It's not a BAD option if you can't carry a real firearm. My dad work as a trucker and carried a cap and ball revolver for self defense because he often traveled across state lines with differing laws on firearms. Since a Cap and Ball revolver is not a firearm he circumvented those regulations

eyy me too! the cylinder is etched with cowboy n ingines. pretty sweet. but to me its an anooyance to reload. prefer the later cartridge six shooters

I had the same brilliant idea for crossing New York State lines but they were one step ahead. I found some balls and now I'm carrying a normal concealed gun everywhere I go, fuck everyone who tells us otherwise
