I shot an Arab in the tummy because I thought he was burying an IED. He wouldn't get off the road after I dazzled him with muh lasers or listen to the bullhorn.
turns out he was changing a flat tire.

I loved my Bravo. My excuse was that I saw what he was planting so I thought I didn't need permission to fire. Real reason was I knew if I called the SOG, he would be the one to shoot him, or some officer would have overheard the convo over the radio and gotten a whole plt together to go chase him down. The bastard might have even gotten away. Instead I shot him, he died, problem solved, problem staying solved.
I got a lot of shit for it, but I don't regret it.

Had something similar, but damn near positive he was planting shit.

We were doing a mounted overwatch of a MSR, overlooking a previous IED crater. Car pulls up, guy gets out with something in hand (going to place something in the crater).

Get go ahead to do warning shots (EOF), three warning shots. Guy kept at it (he noticed), my TC gave me the go to engage.

Nearly positive I hit him in the leg since he went back hopping back to the car dragging something.

Those assholes ignored every EOF measure we did, and I shot one of them with good reason.

Had a similar situation with a Ma Duece. Somebody had very caringly engraved "War Pig" on the reciever, and there were tally marks next to the title with units and dates in between marking deployments.

War Pig had been in theater since the war started, passing from unit to unit who each tallied thier unit, deployment date, and kills carefully next to the engraving.

War Pig killed 67 taliban in its career by the time we turned er over to a new unit.

Gun never jammed, and I swear to god, almost seemed to help you set headspace and timing.

Youd rank the barrel on tight, crank it back two clicks, bam. Go/no go pass 1st time, every time.

Setting timing was the same, 5 seconds and the little dial inside the reciever would just glide into that sweet-spot with no fiddling needed.

Cleaning war pig became a ritual, we named the gun truck it was mounted on war pig.

Any truck that had that gun mounted became war pig, and not to be too superstitious, but War Pig seemed to draw out taliban to be killed.

Cleaning War Pig was a good luck ritual people competed to be allowed to perform.

If you made a kill with her you were expected to "kiss the pig" by burning your forearm on the hot barrel.

After ten years in the infantry, I became a medic. I went to school for two and a half years to earn the label "paramedic."

Since then I have stuffed my hands in the guts of plenty of people. I know for certain I have killed more people than I ever did in the infantry. Some folks would call me a bad medic. Others in my circle would call me a success.
