Were these developed in a low fantasy Europe like environment? With many militaristic power's which engage in frequent warfare? The .30 caliber bullet was developed in Europe in a specific kind of environment. So make sure your lore has enough local power's and conflicts to justify the kind of tech leaps you see here.

The world has a mishmash of tech ranging from the late 30's to the early 50's; radar guided AAA is very much a thing for the richer countries but jet engines are still making engineers tear their hair out, etc.

There are quite a few areas in which tech far surpasses or just ignores the limitations of modern technology, like walker tech.

The grip looks like a luger to the point where I originally assumed thats where the magazine was. Keep the luger grip angle, it makes it look more distinct from a C96, but you should probably make it more clear that the grip is just a grip.

The action looks pretty good, is it a tilting barrel recoil design? If so it seems to more or less make sense, basically it's like a 1911 action bolted onto the frame of a C96 with a luger grip angle and a removable magazine.

Keep in mind.

Nothing with more power than a .380 automatic can use a fixed barrel blowback design effectively in a compact firearm.

If .40 short is not an underpowered piece of shit round that gun probably wouldn't function.

The only fixed barrel blowback firearm that can handle a full power service cart like a 9mm that I know of is the C96 and this is a very large long and heavy gun.

>>
>>31005217
What that means is that while the slide retracts back along the rail the end of the barrel will rotate upwards like 15 degrees or so. Google tilting recoil operation.

Fixed barrel guns like the c96 work differently and don't usually have a slide covering the barrel.

The handwavium for walkers is just just the fact that they like, exist and function effectively in rough terrain combat.

The main handwavium thing is aether, a super-heavy gas that starts responding negatively to gravity once it gets pushed past the boiling point of water, meaning you can put it in giant warships and make them fly.

Will post picture of an example.

Oh I didn't even get to the part where if you heat it up too fast beyond the point where it's resisting gravity, physics realizes it's being fucked with and drags it back to the dimension from whence it came, forcing some of it to go supercritical and resulting in a small amount of the matter undergoing a total mass-energy conversion.

The largest (and only major) instance of this which resulted in a massive number of safety regulations being applied to ships was a battle in which a ship had its temperature regulation unit hit, but the giant aether tank remained intact, so the heating coils went fucking wild and 100 grams of aether went kablooey.

4-5 megaton TNT equivalent explosion melted both fleets out of the sky.

I forgot to mention that its density is affected exponentially more than air by changes in temperature. At room temperature it's much heavier than air, but at exactly the boiling point of water it reaches 0g/cm3, which is odd because it slowly stops expanding in volume past 95 degrees C.

1) lolidunno my friend designed this

3) see 1, I imagine they use the bottom hook as some kind of trap they can use to catch themselves
4) Aether ships conduct battles primarily by seeking an altitude advantage with a clear line of sight to their opponent and then lining up as many guns as possible on them before shelling them to shit. This is obviously easier if the target ship is a surface vessel. However, recently, aether combat has relied more on CAS aircraft and dive bombers.

>>

Kinda both? They use destroyer screens excessively because AAA is super-important, but they also stagger the formations by altitude so that there's coverage on all angles of attack and not just on the altitude of the capital ships. They also make heavy use of fighter escorts that scout ahead and even early AWACS.

Also what do uniforms look like in this world?
>>
>>31006069
I have written a trio of short stories set in the universe that are all interconnected.

One follows a child soldiers as he tries to fend off the invading Canian force in the last weeks of the war.

One follows a foreign young businessman as he makes what he thinks is a deal with Canian military reps and ambassadors, but it turns out to be something far more sinister.

The third one follows a Canian soldier as she carries out aforementioned sinister thing and what it does to her head.

I should mention that the Canians are literally wolf furries because I was a furry in middle school and this is the dregs of that era of my life.
You have every right to hate the Canians; they're racist, xenophobic, warmongering imperialists that aren't nice in any respect to anybody but their own.

>>31006089
I was gonna do a mod of the MG42 and the Bren but I got sidetracked.

Also, much like IRL uniforms. Sarun and Ivaius are considered a standard as they use a very popular pattern of uniform much akin to French WWI uniforms. I don't have any drawings unfortunately.

I think mech suits is a bit much. I just want stuff like officers getting gyrojet pistols and ships with gyrojet autocannons.

Also if the accuracy problems could be remedied, gyrojet could make good snipers since the projectile accelerates over time.

Also you should have a country with weapons like the Girandoni Air Rifle for their snipers.

Canians have a very different physiology. Female Canians don't have sexual dimorphism issues that limit how much muscle and strength they can build due to how their society evolved (more babies per woman + shorter gestation period = not as many women have to have babies = women can focus on being soldiers and hunters and shit). You probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a male or female Canian unless you heard their voice, and even then it'd be kind of guesswork.

I kinda wrote them intending to turn the "gas the furries race war now" trope on its head, since they regularly stage mass killings of human populations within their occupation areas.

Since Veruk never truly left behind the aesthetics of medieval times, their infantry tends to look a lot like WWI soldiers mashed up with dark ages infantrymen.

Canians have settled for more of a militant socialism than outright fascism. Canian nationalism is very different from the human nationalists that fly this flag, as human nationalists and fascists usually come from revanchist ideologies. Ironically, it's kind of the Canians' fault, as they fucked some country's economies with warfare and trade control and now the people of those countries are pissed and want a strong government again.

Here's the horizontal version. It can be flown both ways, be it for hanging banners or flying flags.

Ok, not in order but

The upper bridge is in front of the main turret
The bottom bridge is behind a turret and can"t see shit
there is no way of seeing what is comming from underneath
there is a door on the borrom bridge, for taking a walk ?
why are there lifeboat? Usefull when you hit the ground or maybe water with chance from X hundreds meters of altitude.
And then, the ship fall on you
Your, i'm guessing "radar tower", is levitating
there is an anchor , but it can turn around it whyile it's stationning, it need another at the rear of the ship
there ar only 4 anti air turret. The yamato had one hundred and it was sunk by planes. And they weren't able to attack it from underneath
Btw, if the planes come from above, they are perfectly safe.
are there torpedos launchers ?
how does it change direction?
the lifeboat will have to roll over the "large" part to fall from the ship
your super heavy gaz will escape the ship from that planes launcher devises
you can't recover the planes
why an hydravion? Land on a cloud?
how does that thing land?
how does it get supplied?
if the bottom turrets fire, the cartridge will it something underneath them
that thing will be pushed through the sky every time the mains turrets fire.

English is not my first language. Sorry if I have poorly stated my points.

They'd be pretty scary in a completely destroyed city/stalingrad type environment where other armor can't go, and could poke their turrets over debris piles to fire with near impunity over the rubble before ducking to reload.

Add some AA variants (since obviously regular AA vehicles couldn't follow) and you have a for exactly such terrain. If all you can bring to bear are handheld A/T and MAYBE some air support and suddenly walking IS-3's are popping their heads over the rubble, you're pretty much fucked.
>>
>>31006983
That is literally the entire point of walkers.

Walkers in my world are meant to traverse where no rational tank commander would dare send his vehicle. Walkers make urban, hilly, even mountain warfare that much deadlier by adding in a vehicle that can traverse the terrain easily.

Also I'm a writefag, here's those short stories I wrote.

Airplanes (albeit slow, WW1 Era biplanes) were actually able to launch from and return to airships and zeppelins. The ship would accelerate, the plane would slow down to match speed, and then catch a big hoop on its' roof onto a hook on the zeppelins' underside.

Walkers are all equipped with gyroscopic controls that allow the body and legs to adjust for shallow to even mildly steep slopes. They can go down slopes, it just takes practice, especially for bipeds.

Wouldn't it be too dangerous, though, if the gas is as volatile as OP describes it? You'd need way too much shielding around it to make it feasible, unless only a tiny amount was required. Plus, adjusting the height of the tank (to navigate obstacles and the like) would be too cumbersome and slow if it is tied to regulating the temperature of the gas.

Yeah, but your bipeds and six legs walkers are not praticable.

For exemple, the six legs one need the turret to be on the back of the tank and not the front, because there are more chance that a front leg get hit, and incapacitate your current design, but less a rear turret one.

Make Spiders ones with center turret also.

THE LORE

Okay, so one of the most famous battles in recent history was the Canian landing at Koliva. Koliva used to be a small protectorate of Halflings in the northeast of the Hammerpoint peninsula, which is pictured. They were owned by the Kingdom of Ivaius, which used to own the east and south of Hammerpoint.

Halflings are not treated nicely in this world. They're seen as sneaky, deceptive, subhuman, and overall nasty. They have been repeatedly disenfranchised by humans wherever they exist.

Ivaius was especially assholish to halflings, and was also doucheface mcgee on the block along with their eternal bro kingdom Sarun. Ivaius had a tendency to make trade contracts with people that only benefited them and their allies, and fucked over everybody else. The only reason people accepted them was that refusing meant getting fucked even harder by having trade cut off to you.

Long story short, Ivaius one day was too much of an asshole to the Canians, and the Canians spent a few years mobilizing their military industry. They sent diplomats disguised as traders to Koliva, slowly playing off the halfling oppression by the Ivaius royal government to the point where Koliva was on the verge of declaring independence. Once Cania felt confident, they secretly proposed that they invade Ivaius and the rest of Hammerpoint through naval landings in Koliva, and the Koliva representatives incite violence against soldiers.

They accepted.

In March of 1914, a Canian armada of aether aircraft carriers, battleships, and destroyer screens showed up on Ivaius radar, along with reports of an approaching swarm of landing craft and surface destroyer screens. Ivaius reserves in Koliva mobilized to guard the coast, but halfling terror cells began attacking the troops stationed in the coastal city, creating a fight for the city before the coast could be adequately fortified.

>>
>>31007691
http://forums.eregime.net/index/

(2/2)

That morning, Canian marines landed on the beaches under heavy covering fire from Canian dive bombers, fighters, and multiple aether cruisers. The lack of naval presence around the Koliva coast meant that Canian aether cruisers were free to shell coastal fortifications apart before Canian marines landed in force, making the advance up the beach much easier than it would be with a fully fortified coast.

Multiple regiments pushed into coastal towns by the end of the day, allowing the landings of multiple motorized and armored divisions in the following weeks. The rest of the Ivaius military had been fully mobilized by this point, and infantry/armor was pouring itself into Koliva, but the unrest from the halflings combined by the sheer technological superiority of the Canians made a meaningful defense in Koliva nearly impossible. Entire corps were crushed by advancing Canian walkers, and air superiority was wrestled from the Royal Ivaius Air Force by Canian carrier air groups.

As for the navy counter-attack, Ivaius' mostly surface-based fleet was no match for a Canian armada stationed thousands of feet up. The prize fleet of Ivaius was shelled to bits within hours of approaching within engagement range of the Canian aether armada.

The opening week of the Hammerpoint War is often referred to as the Six-Day Slaughter, due to the fact that for that one week, Canian forces took Koliva and northern Ivaius with an effective casualty ratio of 7:1.

I'm thinking, for the propulsion system, of doing some king of set of turbo fans inside of the hull, but even then I don't think it would realistically move the ship with enough force.

The Canian Säubergenkomp (Literally "Cleaning Corps", they're a mass-murdering death squad unit that is specialized in killing humans) comes to mind.

The Veruk "Fate Knights" are an elite force of soldiers trained to channel divine energy in CQC and in gunfights. Really it's just a form of astral magicka and not really divine intervention, but that doesn't change the fact that they can literally slap you in the face really hard and melt it off.

The Drullenheim Blacksand Division is a unit of elite elvish soldiers that operate in the deserts of Tajed, using mostly prototype and experimental weaponry against Orcish tribal resistors. They're among the first units in the world to wield what could be referred to as assault rifles, but that pales in comparison to some of the experimental astral magic tech they used, which involves what are basically magic-powered anti-material rifles that have shells that explode with the force of a 100kg bomb.

Hydraulic recoil mechanisms take out most of the recoil, and walkers are pretty heavy, so unless bipeds are mounting heavy howitzers I bet they're fine.

>>31008081
The races aren't too high-fantasy trope filled; the orcs are pretty similar to humans in most respects, as are elves. Orcs are just taller and have more testosterone (and nearly coal-black skin) and elves are a bit shorter and don't have body hair. Also very slightly pointy ears.

Magic is also rare as fuck unless you're talking about astral magic which is a bit different. But yeah, dark fantasy sounds better.

>>31008109
Biped walkers are usually supported by armored cars and infantry; they never advance without ground cover for whatever they can't hit.
>>
Another point about the walkers, in a "siberian winter" conflict, they are fucked by climat.

>>
>>31008150
Still, even if rare the objective, undeniable existence of magic invalidates the "low fantasy" classification.
Low fantasy specifically refers to a fantasy world where everything is grounded in reality, kind of historical fiction in an alternate world. The only "magic" would be something like paganism where it's arguable if the magic is real or it's all just religious superstition.

I'm not OP but I'm thinking it would be really cool if their was a small human nation that in complete and perfect secrecy had equipped it's military with some crazy retro-futuristic wolfenstein like weapons tech that they probably developed from studying the remains of an ancient ayy spaceship they found decades ago deep underground and are planning to use this weapons technology to defend themselves if the doggo empire attacks

the problems is not only snow, it's the cold.

And also, no, if they are in one meter of snow, they are stuck. Snow is horrible.

Works with quicksand too. Never bring a walker on a beach.

There are tons of tanks stuck in Normandy Beachs, walker will be worse.

If your world uses similar things to ours, and that's similar naming conventions to like 30-30, 30-40, or 45-70, the cartridge had a .30 cal bullet with 10 grains of powder? Is that a pistol calibre carbine then? Like fuck that's weak.
>>
>>31005212
Uh, you don't get to bring guns.
>>
>>31008436
lmao no
.30-10 uses the same naming convention as .30-06, which was developed in 1906. .30-10 was developed in 1910 as a replacement for .34 Long cartriges, which still used black powder propellant and tended to be weak as balls.

>>31008410

if you want bipedal walker, make smallers ones.

Like a one soldier small vehicule. 2 meter of height, extremely light, fast and reliable. And cheap.

The tank with two leg is not a good idea with the current design.
First, it need another point of fixation between the tank and the legs, just one point is weak and all the weight of the uppe part and the recoil is concentrate on that point, who also need to move and stuff.
>>
Also, another kind of issue.

This is a wolrd of furry right?

There are furries insides theses tanks?

Ya know, with fur and stuff.

A lot of fur, in WW1 to WW2 tanks.

The crews will die because of the heat.
>>
>>31008566
There's only one country filled with furries, and they usually cut their body/neck fur short for tank crews. In addition, they insulate the engine and make sure it radiates heat away from the crew compartment.
>>
same kind of issue with claws and guns.

And fur and the fire and stuff when you use a gunpowder devise.

muzzles and gazmasks.

ears and helmets. (work for elfs too)
>>
>>31008473

>>

They obviously can't use human gas masks, helmets, and shoes.

Also, their claws aren't THAT pronounced. They can use guns just fine. Their hands are on-par with humans for the ability to manipulate objects.

As for tails, I'm still trying to figure that out.
>>
>>31008653
Yes, although on their hands it's more like bare, thicker skin than padding.
>>

More advanced bipeds can sprint up to 35 miles per hour if they have powerful gyroscopes. Larger ones with 4-6 legs can only move up to 20-25 miles an hour, and that's on perfectly flat terrain.
>>

Walkers are usually used in environments where they can take advantage of rough terrain to peek over obstacles and then squat back into cover. As an earlier anon said, that spider tank IS-3 would be a nightmare in urban combat with piles of rubble around.

Sappers and shit can just wait for the tank to be near them, get out of cover, fix explosiv, mines or anithing else, go back to cover and boom.

The walker hasn't even see them, because he as a 10 meter dead angle radius around him.
