I'm not 100% happy with mine anyways but it'll work for now
pls no bully

I want an AR-10, should I get the kit from PSA?
>>31003586
Nevermind, just realized and now I feel stupid.
Who, aside from PSA, makes a decent quality complete upper? Somewhere in the $600 range preferred. Are Aero's any good?
>>31003669
BCM is pretty reasonable
>>31003582
What sling am I looking at here?

Gucci setup for $600

pick one
>>31003678
what's with their obsession with meme-mod rails?
>>31003718
Perhaps because BCM only makes the KMR and KMR-Alpha?
Not mine but I'm doing it for a buddy (the same one who wanted me to work on his bushmaster carbon 15 rifle). At first he wanted a snake skin pattern but decided on solid coyote brown with black accents. The paint used is aervoe coyote brown. I put the base coat and three more coats on the upper and rail last night. Today I'll put the fourth on and let it set for a few days before I re-assemble. I'll post a pic when it's done.
>>31003686
>$200 barrel
>Anderson upper
>$90 bcg
Nothing about that is gucci at all.
>>31003686
>>31003686
The only gucci here is the jizzle rail
ACOG, crosshair, chevron, or triangle? I imagine that ease of use for bindon aiming is the inverse of use for precision.
>>31003783
Crosshair is useless. I've had chevrons on all mine, and is nice. Not a fan of the horseshoe but some are.
>>31003563
But that isnt a battle rifle, you retarded cum dumpster

Pic related is my rifle before the basic bitch.
>>31003783
Ok this is all personal preference but for myself I prefer the TA01 reticule over the TA31. But the TA31 still has a solid reticule that is great for engaging a human sized target at distances out to 500 meters.
The Bindon aiming concept work good enough in close in distances with their illuminated reticules.

>>31004058
Just get a TA01NSN then unless you want a different reticle and dual illumination
Newfag here, whats /k/ hate for railed gas blocks? I get that theyre useless, but do they suck compared to a normal one?
>>31004058
Hell normally I'd be fine with the basic bitch TA51 mount but for the price I paid for an ECOS I'm damn glad it came with a gucci mount, but a free blow job should have been included.
>>31003975
For AKs unless it's a full sized folding stock it looks like shit

>>31004349
You spent $2400 on that?
I'm building an SBR.
I have everything finally and I'm getting the lower engraved today.
It's just an aero lower, and an 8.5" PSA upper, and some seeking precision pieces. Is it worth disassembling the upper and getting the gun done in burnt bronze?
>>31004349
You actually paid money for that trash?
What kind of optic is that anyway, BSA?
>>31004313
I didn't know you could fuck up an AR that bad. And I've seen a guy put a Eotech backward thinking that his front sight was the holographic sight.
>>31003563
In
I need some advice bros. I don't own an ar and want one before the election. I've never built anything before, nor do I have the tools, though I could buy them if needed. So should I try to build from an 80% lower, a striped lower, or just buy a completed rifle? What brand are good? I don't need anything snowflake or Gucci, so long as they work well. Any infographs, vid links, etc are appreciated.
How much should I pay for a quality ar-15 carry handle a2 sight?
>>31004397
Just get a BCM upper and build a lower then. You really only need an armorers wrench and some punches to put your lower together.
>>31004397
If you don't own tools, and admittedly have never used any then I wouldn't start with an 80% lower at all.
>>31004423
more like a rubber mallet and some punches
>>31004415
I bought one from BCM, no regrets
In for messed up first paint job but no fucks given, I'll let it wear
>too squeamish to do optic yet
>MBUS still curing
>>31004423
>>31004430
Thanks. Any brands I should steer clear from, or should get for certain areas of the gun? Advice for brands of lowers? Want a metal lower, not polymer.
>>31003686
Notice how the most expensive thing there is the least important.
>arg
>>31004537
Building a lower is a lot simpler than doing an 80%. The only thing I would worry about avoiding is PTAC. And any "slick side" upper. That's no forward assist/no dust cover.
PSA sells good kits for $400-$$450 plus whatever upper you buy.
>>31004313
I'm slightly nauseous but I'm sure it's fun to shoot anyhow.
Should I tag a pretty worn KAC micro with a coat of black krylon? It's looking pretty shiny and chrome.
>>31004562
Thanks friend.
Also one more question and I'll stop bothering you guys, for now. Should i go chrome lined or nitride barrel? I don't have to be hitting a dime at 300 yards over and over, just want a long lasting barrel. Heard nitride lasts a little longer than chrome, but can't find much data since it seems to be new thing to do, outside of Glock.
>>31003563
I's an Operator now
>>31003738
BA is best barrel
>>31004628
Depends on the maker. Ballistic Advantage make some nice barrels at a working man price point. Their barrels aren't chrome lined and are arguably more accurate than chrome lined competitors. As long as you clean it once in a while either will be fine and last until you shoot it out.
How is the MRO?
>>31004660
no, but they're also not shit-tier
>>31003865

Is this the "I want something like a (battery powered) ACOG but I'm too poor" option?
Have any photos of operators using Geissele rails surfaced?
>>31004878
Yes
>>31004878
Absolutely. You would really have to operate hard in some nasty shit to ever know the difference. You could probably take one to Iraq and back and be fine.
>>31003943
I just don't understand all of the ACOG dickriding.
The eye relief practically renders it unusable IMO, and in todays market there are so many better solutions for the same price or less. Any quality 1-6 will run you the same price, but with so much more versatility.

You know, if I was putting this on my build I would totally have gone with the Vortex Razor 1-6x. But it's going on my M4 clone so idgaf.
>>31004974
Really all I need is a can and some lights for these. I would love to do an SBR build once my trust is set up too. Probably don't need any more ARs than that. I'm getting into AKs and want an FAL too.
These 2 cover my bases pretty well. I like them. Contemplating getting a handstop for the rifle with a VFG at the same time I order more of the nice textured panels for my other rifle.
>>31003669
filename explanation?
What buffer tube kit do yall use?
>>31005033
The one in the PSA lower kit.
>>31004924
Admittedly, I have very long arms so NTCH is not comfortable at all for me. Even if that wasn't the case, 1.5" of eye relief for a 4x? Thats asinine by modern standards. ACOG is the only optic that can effectively get away with it these days, and thats because of the fanboyism. Sure, the glass is top-notch and they're build like a brick shithouse, but do you guys really have some fantasy in your head where you're going to be abusing these things to the point that you need that? Don't get me wrong, they're fantastic optics but they're just outdated and not cost-effective in the least.
a good 1-6x will have faster target acquisition, better medium-range capabilities, and will be 90% as durable as an acog.

>>31005041
>>31005069

>>31005070
true, that is completely subjective.
>>31005052
>a good 1-6x will have faster target acquisition, better medium-range capabilities, and will be 90% as durable as an acog.
I mean that's 90% wrong, but whatever
>>31005075
I considered that as well but wound up choosing the Primary Arms option because I wanted it to use ACOG mounts. Overall I am very pleased.
>>31005082
No, just telling you what I used. DSA should be fine.
>>31005093
Forgot i asked what yall used and not for recommendations lol
Thanks senpai
>>31005088
Exactly. Objectively speaking the ACOG is a phenomenal optic.
>>31005089
How do you figure?
>>31005170
Don't listen to him
>>31005052
>a good 1-6x will have faster target acquisition
it's still a scope with an eyebox and eye relief. it's not a fucking red dot. why the fuck do people think 1x-Nx scopes have red-dot viewing windows.....
You still have to line your shit up and be inside the eye box to get the sight picture. It's NO different than any other scope that doesn't go down to 1x.
>>31005170
there's nothing that matches the durability and weight of an acog
i'm not sure how you think target acquisition is better.
>>31005202

>>31005202
>not even quality screenshots

>>31005249
we're talking about a 1-6 by comparison with an ACOG, not a red dot. ACOG suffers MORE from the problems you mentioned than the 1-x scopes we're talking about.

>>31005202
>>31005264
lmao the tripshits are arguing.
>>31005033
i only use colt brand colt tubes from specialized armament. the rolled threads and 7075-T6 aluminum is a LOT stronger than most other buffer tubes on the market that are made from 6061 aluminum and machined threads (cut).
they sell mk18 tubes with 6 positions if you don't like the 4 position tubes. i personally have a 4 pos, i enjoy it.
>>31005297
if your head is in the eyebox for both scopes there is no target aquisition speed difference.
>>31004697
>first time it was ready to fire, using airshit rear while I waited for DDA1.5 to come back in stock (picture is flipped for consistency)
>Switched pearce grip for A2, later sanded off finger nubbin (also flipped)
>MIAD, ALG SCB, memecover
>jizzle rail
>switched blackout off the pistol to the rifle and E1 3 prong to the pistol from the rifle
>>31005334
correct, so then the factor becomes eye relief. the ACOG's 1.5" of eye relief limits your peripheral vision as well as your grip on the rifle in a lot of cases. I don't enjoy shooting with my face that far into the rifle. It causes poor stance where i'm craning my head down to the rifle to get a decent cheek weld. Different strokes, i guess.
>>31005367
>he calls this progress
>>31005385
the short eye relief is intentional on an ACOG, it allows you to keep the same cheek weld whether using irons or the optic. consistency is king.
you should be using both eyes open when shooting anyway so peripheral vision is a moot point.

>>31003563
Well call me a fickle little bitch, but on the TR24 (1-4x) I need to adjust the eyepiece for perfect focus at different magnifications.
as in, at 1x I can focus it to be clear enough to use it like a red-dot, but need to turn the eyepiece a quarter turn at 4x for perfect clarity
Am really interested in the Kel Tec RFB lately.

>>31006390
Some rich guy was telling me how oil stays on it sooo much better than the nitrided and whatnot fancy coated ones.
I personally think it's fucking snake oil, do you often see excessive wear on your bolt carrier rails? I assume the wear is mostly on the aluminum contact points inside the upper receiver.
As for it staying lubricated better, I doubt being slick helps oil stick to it, but it might have some natural lubricity.
I don't think I would buy one personally, better to have oil stick than a hard coating sliding against your upper receiver rails.
>>31006516
Well the thing is I *can* see through the scope at 4x reasonably well adjusted, but it will give me a fucking headache with my eye adjusted for extreme distance.
Maybe I am near sighted from using a PC too much or something.
I didn't get to play with these toys today :(

Is a good choice then?
Is that actually a sale price, or is it a (((sale))) price?
>>31006516
Okay, put it at 4x and fuck with the focus, it gets much more clear if you modify it specifically for 4x.
Then back on 1x it's a bit too blurry to use like a red dot.
>>31006561
Yea, don't know what to tell you. I have never had any issue with mine when it comes to focus. Never fucked with it, and I have shot with it from 15 yards to 400 yards from 1x-4x

Are you not a fan of the QD cantilever style mounts for optics like that?
Sorry purists, I couldn't stand the A2 grip any longer. That said, the CTR is going to go back to the SOPMOD enhanced, I just wanted to check it out.
>rattle canned abortions
hey that's me
>>31006698

>>31006708
Grip changes aren't uncommon. I wouldn't sweat it.
>>31006698
A2 is dildos, I like the K2 personally and I need to get around to ordering one. The SL grip has a really aggressive grip texture and I don't care for it. Is the SOPMOD really that much better?
>>31006690
I was waiting to buy a decent one. normally I'd run a Larue/ADM

That's a terrible advertisement.
>>31006814
What the fuck are you even saying?
Why, or better yet how, would the bolt skip over the round in front of it?

I'm a huge fan of ADM mounts personally. But whatever works for you is good.
Still a cool rifle setup. I need to get an infrared laser of some sort for my rifles still. Needs to be slaved though because fuck trying to zero 2 different lasers. Ruins the point of the visible one.
>>31006723
Cool, then I might as well throw the B5 grip on it
>>31006868

>>31007130

>>31005657

I've never owned a firearm before but I'd like to purchase one before Bill Clinton's wife revokes the second amendment and packs the SCOTUS with radical progressives.
How often do you guys have to zero an AR and are mineral oils good for lubricating internals or something more specialized?
I'm drawn to the mepro tru dot for my first big boy red dot. It's hard to find good info on it though. It's my understanding that it functions similar to an EOtech in that people with astigmatism will see a crisp dot? My poorfag optics are blurry. I'm not sure where to go from here. Scopes? Prism or something?
>>31007307
>How often do you guys have to zero an AR
when new optics get attached
>are mineral oils good
no use motor oil
>>31006708
Fucking nice set up man I love m4geries
>>31007307
What? You zero it once and you're good to go unless you change the sight/scope/red dot out, then you gotta rezero it again. If you want to cheap out on lube and cleaning just use motor oil. Get buying now sonny, you've only got a few months until the true panic and you'll want mags and ammo to boot, buddy.
>>31007377
So field stripping and doing an extremely thorough cleaning won't disturb it too much?
>>31006176
Going to a PRO from an MRO is a lateral change at best, and a downgrade depending on your priorities for quality of dot and weight.
>>31007434
no dude.
>>31006743
SOPMOD a best. I regret trying anything else, should have just got one first. Ordered a second three days later to go on my other rifle.

>>31007679

>>31007352
Thanks, I just installed an ALG trigger I had laying around that wasn't being used. Better than the mil-spec trigger it came with and it'll do until I get a SSA.
Also put the SOPMOD back on and leaving the magpul grip, but I just ordered another B5 grip because it's even comfier. I definitely liked the ACOG on there as soon as I ditched the A2 even if I don't have much real estate for my hands. I'll probably replace the KAC vfg with a tangodown in time too.
>>31007469
I'd much prefer the CompM4 but for the price, the PRO looks almost exactly like the M2/M68.
I think I'm going to keep the ACOG on there and wind up buying a Razor 1-6 for my build eventually.
>>31007683
Do it.
>>31007623
Nice! Congrats dude
>>31007709
The PRO is similar to the CompM3.
I mean I'd upgrade the MRO to a CompM4 just for the 8 year AA battery life, that's unreal and you can't get more convenient and future-proof than that. AA batteries will be the last cells to cease production. Your kids could pass the dot on to their kids.

>>31007805
Gotta love when they try to ban everything by names and new guns/variations slip through the cracks.
>>31007734
Meh, I'll probably just stick with the ACOG and end up painting the M4.
I just want to put magnification on my other AR as well.
>>31007135
yea, I'll weld up some sort of riveting jig.
>>31007844
I know that feel. I'm mid 30s and I really like magnification now, my eyes just don't focus as well or as quickly as they used to. I'm currently saving for an ACOG but my MRO is staying on my HD gun. 2032s will also be around forever.
>>31007841
FAL's are banned as well. Along with Galil's and all AR15's that don't have HBAR's.
So for .308 my options are AR10 or RFB, and I am already building a 9mm AR so I don't want three AR pattern guns.
>>31007831

>>31007841
You saved it! :3c
I need to mock up a RFB in M90
I'm building an AR, and it's going to be ambidextrous (lefty problems). I was looking at the AXTS Talon safety selector. Is it worth the extra money over the other ones like the BADASS? And what are the chances of the screws falling out of the latter? Thanks.

Are there any cons with QD attachments?
>>31007697
>they better provide you top notch PPE
one would think
>>31007935
There's a slight chance of bumping something QD off your gun. I've never had it happen with my sling (my only QD), but I'd rather not take the chance.
>>31007935
No the biggest bitch is if you get a QD socket that isn't non rotational. But most manufacturers make them non rotational these days. I was going to use a QD point on my Vltor stock but its socket is rotational so the sling and get twisted on one end which is a minor pain in the ass.
>>31007951
Do you ever get assigned to open a particularly eldritch manhole and find yourself wishing you'd brought your PC and rifle just in case?
>>31007935
Unless you have a shit mount (Burris, maybe AD) it takes a lot more than a bump to detach things.
Sling points are fine as well provided the QD's you get aren't shit as >>31007975 explains
>>31007990
nah the deep ones that are like 40ft are bretty spoopy tho

The ACOG mount the PA 3x is in is the AD-B3.
The microdot mount is the AD-T1-11 which is a lower 1/3 cowitness mount for microdots that use the Aimpoint T1 bracket.
