On the day of days, stick to the plan. don't change your strategy unless it is completely ineffective. if the spooks did even half the job right, you should see solid numbers and measurable progress by sundown on DDay+0.

Don't forget that winning the war requires winning the peace. Be prepared for POWs, mass graves, and potential outside condemnation or even intervention. No war crimes court can present evidence that doesn't exist. That being said, history tells us that a few grunts always take pics of their dirty work, so be ready with a cover story.

OP, I would set up a large trap full of tasty bait and stake it out to see where they're coming from. If they're such a problem to the point where killing them all off would effectively amount to a genocide, you are most likely dealing with multiple nests and/ or one gigantic infestation (probably under his house.) Ask your friend if he has ever seen any coming into/ very close to his house, or if he's ever heard strange noises coming from the vents/ walls/ floors.

Hopefully it isn't that bad, or else you'll probably need the assistance of an exterminator, and of course poisoned animals are no good for fur or eating. Fortunately for you, however, nutria are quite healthy to eat, and apparently very delicious assuming the correct preparation:

Im assuming your friend has a pond and the nutria nest is on some edge of it. I would place barriers near their nest that will funnel into a kill zone. Start your attack with your heavy firepower concealed at the kill zone, then at least 2 people work around the pond lobbing depth charges into the water and weeds. If its a big pond you may need a third person in a boat. The barriers guide them to the KZ and the pushers keep them from turning back. Optionally you could bait the KZ for awhile before hand so it becomes a familiar/positive area in their minds.
