Fewest dog breeds are capable of doing this. Anyway, cats aren't battle buddies as they are too weak and can't do enough damage to an opponent. They're also very difficult to train. But cats would be very valuable for preppers in a SHTF situation, because they will hunt mices and rats that would eat your food supplies (that's also the main reason why cats got domesticated).
