What's cheaper to shoot: 7.62x39 or 223? This will determine if I get a 858 or T97. Range I go to doesn't allow steel cored ammo.
>>
>>30993602
7.62 by like a min of .50 cents a round. no comparison
>>
>>30993673

And this is non steel ammo?
>>
>>30993724
no that would be steel core. in that case .223 will be probably cheaper, as a soft point 7.62 is gonna be much more than surplus. must be an indoor range for a rule like that eh?
>>
I'm trying to find places innawoods to shoot. Gravel pits are closed off and most crown land near the city (Grande Prairie AB) has quadders and RCMP/crimestoppers "No fun allowed" signs posted.

What sort of areas should I be looking for?
>>
>>30993602
The T97 is a terrible rifle anon. And I like norinco for the most part.
>finicky with most mags. Alot dont even fit in the magwell.
>Potential problems with bullets being jammed on the feed ramp or upper chamber.

Do yourself a solid and get a vz58 with the AR mag adapter.

Lmao why da fug do I need a permit to buy body armor in BC? Fuggkin fudd hunters and liberals making laws.

>>30993760
Head down the Two lakes road. Rather than continue past the Pembina plant take the gravel road heading west at the big turn. After you pass the creek you are into crown land until the river.

All the green areas shown here. The rcmp cannot restrict access to crownland, only lease holders can do that, ill get you more info hold up
>>
>>30993837
He said hes by grand Prarie
>>
>>30993917
Almost all of that green land is actually under grazing right now. The lease holders are decent guys but will not allow shooting while their cows are on it. Additionally most of that green is too close to roads, houses, oil patch to safely shoot on.
The best option is to go to true crown land to the west.

>>30993935
Your point?
If you are in GP and don't want to shoot at the club then you need to travel.
The area I mentioned is only 30 minutes out.
>>
>>30993944
The crownland by grove dale is accessible, theres no lease holder conditions in place, do you know how big of an area 5000 acres is? I checked all the crownland north of the wapiti closer to grand Prarie and it all has leaseholder conditions and they all state NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES. Foot access only, no camping, no access when livestock is present. Like its not hard to figure it out idk why you people have such a hard time findingplaces to shoot.
>>
>>30993971
Grovedale crownland is closer and is all forest.

Just go down man haul rd(range road 60) and take left on the road in my picture thwn your on prime crownland 15 min from wapiti gun club, youll have to look at a map yourself obviously to find the turn off its an unnamed road and from the looks of it theres no houses at all nearby
>>
>>30993747

For now I'm going to an indoor range but once outdoor ranges open up membership I guess steel core will be cheaper.
>>
>>30993801

I'll keep that in mind. Does the AR mag adapter work with all 10+ round mags?
>>
>>30994383
Man haul had heavy construction on it when I tried yesterday, I might try again when it dies down.

>>30993917
I was in the area between hwy 40 and grovedale on sunday, its not the greatest but I might try and look around more.

Would a lockable guitar case be considered a sturdy transport case?
>>
Yeah I didn't read that it was his only guns, but showing feets is just a meemz at this point.
>>
>>30995154
guitar cases work well

also comes in handy if you want to take transit
>>
>>30995154
There was some talk on here about how putting a gun in a guitar case is considered by law to be concealing the weapon, ie intentionally disguising it.

Just get a gun case, they cost like $20 at bass pro. You can get a large pelican case if you want to be ambiguous, but that'll cost ya.
>>
>>30995258
by that definition then having a gun in your car is concealing it too isnt it
>>
>>30995274
Mmmno, not to my knowledge.

When you put a gun in your car, you have enough plausible deniability to say that you put the gun in the car to either lawfully transport it or lawfully store it (in this context we're discussing an NR weapon). Whereas, you are not legally required to put your gun in any case during transport. Therefore, there is no plausible deniability when using a guitar case because the case is not necessary for lawful transport or storage, therefore you purposefully chose a guitar case with the intent to disguise the fact that you were in possession of a weapon.
>>
>>30995258
that would be an incorrect reading of the law. if you are transporting the firearm, then you have a justifiable reason to have it in a case. i assume we are talking nr here?
>>
>>30995274
The law is ambigious enough that short of waving it around yelling I HAVE A GUN, everything is concealing it. Go ahead, try not concealing it.
>>
>>30995321
>double therefore

gun cases are pretty generic and don't look much different than all kinds of other cases

the way you're talking it would be required to have a giant yellow tag that says GUN on it or something

I'm the SKS guy.
I'm wearing a bathrobe because I took that picture right when I woke up this morning
I'm in my gun room, not my kitchen. The cloth is there so nothing gets scratched
I own two SKSs cause they're cheap guns and they're fun to shoot; I'm just getting started with my own gun collection, and I figured I might as well have a customized SKS cause I want to
>>
>>30995362
Is this law ever likely to be enforced? Not unless you sneak your shotgun into a school in a guitar case so you can get a head start on a mass murder. They'll probably throw a "concealing a firearm" charge on there just to fuck with you, if you live to make it to court.

I'm just telling you that if you're carrying your gun in a guitar case you're just giving the cops an opportunity to ruin your day if they feel like it. The gist is, if you're legally transporting your firearm, then there should be no reason for you to actively conceal the fact that you're transporting your firearm. Using a nondescript case (like a pelican or underwater kinetics) or trying to stay low-key is fine. When the cops think you're trying to hide something (which they will if they find out youre booting a gun in a guitar case) their spidey senses will start tingling and they'll huff and they'll puff and they'll ruin your day and possibly more.

Jesus, can't you kids tell when somebody's just trying to help you stay out of trouble
>>
>>30995337
Doesn't matter. The only way to legally "conceal" your firearm outside of transporting it in a private vehicle is either 1) in a rifle case 2) in a box that mentions it is a firearm. If you have neither then you should just carry it openly. <- only applies to nonrestricted.

Yes it's dumb and even the judge thought so but thems the breaks.

(For reference the case involves a guy transporting an unloaded 22 on the skytrain while on his way to plink and covering it with a garbage bag or something and being charged with having a concealed weapon. The judge says it's dumb because the law says one thing and both the police and common sense recommend another.)
>>
>>30995321

Well I don't want to be advertising that I'm transporting guns to and from the range.
>>
Literally who cares though, the gun goes from the house to the car, then from the car to the range. When and where will a cop bust your ass for concealing a gun?
>>
So am I breaking the law if I put a locked pistol case in a backpack when going to the range?

Just get your restricted the same time you apply for your non. If you do decide you want an AR or handgun then you will have to go over the same process you did for your nonrestricted including the wait (and the mandatory 28 day cooling off period in legislation)and references. Applying for both at the same time only costs a little more money and doesn't affect the wait in any way.

TL;DR just do it.

My CFSC instructors, one RCMP and the other retired RCMP, both said to use guitar cases. He said he's got a convertible and while he could legally just throw a rifle on the passenger seat, he's probably going to end up getting ventilated by some 22 year old cop after they get 100 calls about some dude driving around with a shotgun. So he puts it in a guitar case so people don't flip out and call the cops.

You know, I've listened to a lot of rap music, and while a lot of it contains racial tension, it's almost always black rappers speaking badly about white people.

I've never heard a rapper talk shit about Koreans, except for Tupac. And even then, this was in a posthumous album. No idea why he never released these songs while he was still alive; his sentiments would've been relevant back then. It was really weird that Eminem would decide to release these songs in the 21st century long after Tupac died, and context was severely lacking.

Is the XCR better than an AR? It's NR, but I wouldn't really take it anywhere but the range anyway. The AR costs less (I'm looking at getting an MRR when they come out, so $2300 vs $3000), but the controls are better on the XCR. Did they ever get the XCR to cycle properly with steel cased ammo?

If you're willing to spend that much and you want something NR, maybe save up some more and get a Swiss Arms? They're the best "black rifle" on the Canadian market, the biggest problem is finding a place that sells them.

The TAR-21 really isn't worth $3000 imho, based on my experience putting a few hundred rounds through one at the range a few years back. The controls were awkward, it vented hot gas onto your face, accuracy was nothing special, and the trigger was awful. You can buy aftermarket trigger spring packs for them, but then you're looking at another $400-500 for an already $3000 rifle ($3000 will get you a Cobalt Kinetics Black). If you really want a bullpup, just wait for the X95 Tavor, supposedly they fixed the gas venting, gave it an AR mag release, and the trigger is greatly improved. If/when it arrives in Canada, it'll look like the version at the top of the pic
>>
>>31004401

The XCR is also heavier.

It's not a terrible option, but make sure you buy new. Buying a used XCR is asking for trouble.
>>
>>31004491
what is the actual model of swiss arms?

i believe you have to modify it to take stanags right?
>>
>>31004511

That's what I was afraid of hearing. It's hard to justify dropping $3k for "not a terrible option", especially when everything I've heard about Colt Canada's rifles tells me they're a good option. Thanks for the response though, really.
>>
>>31004647

If the AR-15 wasn't restricted, then it would pretty much be a no-brainer.

There's a good reason it's so popular south of the 49th.
>>
>>31004630
In Canada it's called the "Classic Green" or the "Black Special" AFAIK the only difference is the "Black Special" has black furniture and a black finish on the receiver, while the "Classic Green" has green furniture.

You can get a small plastic block for it that will let it work with STANAGs, it doesn't require a permanent modification. I don't think polymer magazines will work with it, as you need to file a small catch in the spine of the magazine.

Best gun shops in the GTA? Looking to get a mossy 500

In Toronto it's shit m8, my condolences. The only outdoor ranges near here are in Hamilton, Ajax, or north of Barrie. We occasionally get pink councillors who try to ban guns entirely in city limits, so far they've always failed. People in Toronto think owning, wanting to own, or even thinking other people should be allowed to own a firearm makes you a raving lunatic who's probably being bankrolled by the NRA. Whenever I meet pro-gun people in Toronto, they're invariably from a more rural area.

Ottawafag here, I think we have it a little better than you cunts. It's a similar situation with rural folks being the most pro-gun crowd, but even in the city you can find kindred souls who don't think you're a literal Nazi for owning a few guns.

Discussions about gun politics do however tend to clear a room of urbanites pretty fast if you openly disagree with the notion that anything besides the absolute fuddest rifles and shotguns should be prohibited.

>best fun shops
I have a soft spot in my heart for Sports Action, the owners are really nice and it's where I took the firearms safety course. It's also where I bought my first and third guns. Would recommend it if you want to spend a lot of time in a comfy little shop. We also have SAIL, which is a yuge outdoors store. Not a big fan of them. The staff aren't very well-informed. Le Baron's is where I go to stock up on surplus 7.62x39. They always have massive boxes of cheap 12ga. Also a large store, but no complaints about them.

Haven't been to any ranges yet, nor crown land (not sure about legality), so I can't comment on those. I do know that a ban against discharging firearms has recently been put into place in certain areas of the Larose forest, which is right next to my house. If you want to go for a range day while you're here, I know the one in Stittsville accepts walk-ons in their non-restricted ranges for like $30.

>>

>>
>>31004491
Is the Swiss Arms really worth the money? It's very expensive, it doesn't take AR mags, it may or may not be prohibited, parts are difficult to find (that NEA lower mentioned in the other post needs a lower parts kit, which I can't find anywhere) and very expensive as well. I don't doubt it's quality, but I really don't see how it's worth $4k+. For that money you could get a Modern Varmint from Alberta Tactical. The only advantage the Swiss Arms has over that is forward assist capability.

You don't "need" a high end safe unless it's for something like an antique firearm with a lot of value. The biggest advantage of a safe, even a cheap one, is that it keeps kids from getting to a gun unsupervised.

Once upon a time, some retards looked through the "Big Book of Guns" and banned everything that scared them. They wanted to ban the AR-15, but were reminded that it was used in service rifle competitions, so they made it restricted.

As they were retards, they didn't know that the Vz-58 was not a variant of the AK-47, and therefore it is not banned in Canada. The same goes for the Type 81. The Tavor came after the great gun banning, but if they had known about it they probably would have banned it too.

Waterdown, ON here. The closest Ranges to Hamilton that you could probably go to are the Waterdown Rod & Gun club if you feel like skeet shooting, or Silverdale down towards Niagara. There's an indoor range in Burlington but you have to have a restricted rifle to apply apparently and the waiting list is long as fuck apparently. There might be a few ranges south of hamilton but I've never been to them.

As far as stores go, There's Al Flaherty's in the heart of Toronto, but apparently they're dicks. There's Lanz/Silverdale, They have a small gun store on the range as well. There's also Al Simmon's in Hamilton and SAIL in Burlington if you're looking for bolt actions and shotguns. I'm fairly new to firearms as well but hopefully this helps you out.
>>
>>31004707
Pretty much limited to SAIL, Al Jewerstien's, Bass Pro, Cabelas, Al Simmons in the GTA.

Its a bit of a drive, but spend a day and go to the Trenton Lower Valley gun club. AWESOME outdoor/indoor range.

usually the best prices on guns, but they've got law jammed so far up their ass they are coughing up shoelaces. they are the only gun shop left in metro toronto, and they've got city council chomping at the bit doing everything possible to try and shut them down, so they deal with a lot of shit.

the guys at the counter are pretty bro-tier, and their transfers are fucking lightning quick.
>>
>>31010275
>libertarianism
>automatically the same as anarcho-capitalism
I'm libertarian left. That is to say, I believe people are free to do whatever the fuck they want so long as they infringe on nobody's rights and put nobody in danger, but that businesses (which are not people) should be regulated strongly for safety reasons and to avoid the exploitation of the worker and customer, and that the government is a necessary evil and a corporation run by the people, who are also its clientele. Our taxes are essentially our payment for services such as military, the minimal police forces that deal with the rare lawbreakers who actually hurt someone, and things like paving roads and maintaining water lines. I also believe we need some law because the state of nature is fucking shitty.
>>
>>31010406

>forcing people to do stuff is bad
>i know the right amount of forcing

cognitive dissonance called, it wants you to stop being a faggot
>>
>>31010438
Not him, but there does need to be some government. Not everything has to go to extremes. Criminals forfeit their rights through their actions in harming others, and corporations, not being people, don't have inherent rights.
>>
>>31010438
We use it. We should probably pay for it. Because not paying for it would basically be stealing. Which is wrong. If you want to find a way to completely stop using roads and sidewalks and LE and the fire department, maybe then you can stop paying for them. The government is a necessary evil but we still have to pay them to do their job, ya dip.
>>
>>31010438

For his political philosophy to function, it needs to be 100% voluntary. People who don't want to pay get kicked out.

It could work for, at most, a city-state. But in a libertarian country, you would end up with a veritable mosaic of different political systems being used in different municipalities.

You could end up with a commune trading software for the crops grown by a theocracy.

Pretty much because it's an annoyance. Can't have those damned gun nuts having too much fun. Depending on your rifle you may be able to get "pistol" mags for it that can hold 10 rounds though.

Buy a magazine that was originally designed for use in a handgun: 10 rounds.

Or better yet, buy a magazine that was originally designed for use in a bolt/lever/pump action: unlimited rounds.

As long as you don't modify the magazine, it's legal despite whatever bs the RCMP may say in the future. Pic related is an Archangel AA700 magazine designed for use in a Remington 700 bolt action rifle.. It holds 20 rounds of .308Win./7.62x51mm and related short action cartridges. It also fits snugly into an M14. You're welcome.

>>31010843
Remove dust cover and bolt, and forward handguard and piston. Clean all of it, and the barrel until the patches stop coming out black. It's just a bit labour intensive, mostly because it can take a bit to get rid of all the crap. Look up some youtube guides.
>>
>>31010843
It's easy as fuck. Also, I have a habit of disassembling it to clean it every time I shoot, even if I'm not using corrosive ammo.
>>
>>31010843
One of the easiest guns to field strip. If an illiterate Vietnamese rice farmer can do it, you can too. Even if you neglect it, you can scrub the rust off by soaking it in simple green and be a little generous with a wire brush.

Not that I don't clean my guns right after shooting corrosive..

There is no one going to enforce the NAP, nor anyone preventing mass dumping of pollutants, nor Islamic Arab wave demanding sharia law otherwise.

Either way anarco-fascism is the best compromise.

Commies that want to try to interrupt with forced immigration, gun laws, market regulations and SJW policies will be dropped out of helicopters.

my impression of Marstar is that the only reason they're in business is because they've been around a long time (just assuming, because their website feels like it wasn't updated since the 90s)
it's probably the most sloppily run firearms dealer business in Canada, from all the stories on CGN, site and stock that gets left without updated for years, John's shitty attitude, blatant lies that persist even after being exposed, actually being shady enough to warrant a raid, etc.

yet somehow they keep staying in business and not only that, are one of the few, if not the only (at least they are the only one I know of) business that is trusted to sell prohibited shit and FA firearms

did Marstar get into firearms sales really early on and made a lot of money, connections and special privileges or what?
>tl;dr: how are they still in business after all the shit they pull and their patchy history with the law?
>>
>>31012383
I bought something from them once, and it was because I was so unfamiliar with all the online retailers that I didn't know much about them.

You want to know the worst bit? Most of these bans and restrictions were passed in the wake of the Ecole Polytechnique shooting, where the shooter used a Ruger MIni-14. Today, the AK is prohibited, the AR is restricted, and if I wanted, I could go and buy a brand new Mini-14 at Cabelas for $1200 and it would be in my safe before lunchtime. The gun that you'd think would be Public Enemy No. 1 is non-restricted. If you need proof for any upcoming debates you may be attending that our gun laws are about disarming the public rather than public safety, I can't think of a better example.

>>31009800
A few people did want to ban the Tavor but they couldn't get the RCMP to prove it was easily convertible to full auto.

http://globalnews.ca/news/365040/plans-to-restrict-exotic-rifle-ottawa-wont-say-2/

>"In August, the Canadian Association of Police Boards, the national organization of civilian police oversight boards, called for tighter restrictions on a list of weapons which “are not typical hunting rifles or shotguns and should be traceable.”

Basically in Canada there are two kinds of gun owners, fudds and baby-killers.
>>
>>31012383
Getting a prohibited class business licence doesn't really seem that hard considering my range/lgs just had to get an inspection done to ensure they could safely store them last year after only being open a year. This is in Ontario so maybe it depends on the CFO?

>>

>>
>>31012746
>that our gun laws are about disarming the public rather than public safety, I can't think of a better example.
I think the politicians who put those laws into place weren't actively malevolent and dreaming of how to make the population more pliable to their sprawling, oppressive government.

I think that, though they had earnest concerns about public safety, they were quite plainly incompetent and ignorant to the highest possible degree. Case in point: look at our prohibited weapons list. What is the biggest thing all these guns have in common? They show up in violent action movies from the 80s and 90s. I'm pretty sure nobody has ever had a realistic concern over poo in the vindaloo gangbangers shooting each other with H&K G11s, but that gun does show up in a movie.

I've come to realize that there's actually far less ill intent in the world than people seem to think. Lots of instances where people see evil designs could instead be better explained by plain old regular incompetence.
