I'm thinking about selling my AR to get an SKS. What do?
kill yourself
>selling an AR for a meme-tier weapon
Girl pls

I find 556 to be the most boring of the intermediates to fire and watch hit downrange, and 762x39 the most fun by far since it's 30cal and has pretty decent power behind it.
And I find the AR to be the most boring gun to fire on top of that. The AR has tons of things I love about it, but it just doesn't translate into actual fun for me for some reason. I can't explain, and it bugs the shit out of me that I can't enjoy an AR. I hate missing out on what other people like.
Also, 556 annoys me because it melts through my nice hard steel backstops like butter. Even steel cored 54r brushes off and leaves a half-flattened steel core nearby in the dirt.
And I'd look into a vz58(no I didn't say vz2008) too before you automatically settle on an sks 100%. I have both, love both, but the vz58 is the nicest gun of the 762x39 world IMO.

ftfy
When you go to sell your late model sportscar to buy a used 1960's postal jeep, let us know.
>>30992716
OP, maybe save up more cash and in the meantime scout for an excellent deal on an SKS. Then you have both rifles. With November coming up its a good idea to invest in semi auto rifles.
I recently found an unfired Norinco with chrome lined barrel with all accessories straight out of the manufacturer's crate for $400 and the wood is excellent grain and color. The seller also found some factory Nirinco scope mount receiver covers, not aftermarket.
The deals are out there and 2 rifles better than 1

>implying that's even a worthwhile comparison
guns haven't changed all that much in a way to make them objectively better since the end of ww2
cars are a night and day difference and wear out much differently on top of that
>>30992716
Keep both, and convert your AR to a DMR

>I recently found an unfired Norinco with chrome lined barrel with all accessories straight out of the manufacturer's crate for $400
That's exactly what I have for an sks, great gun. I guess the later ones being imported to canada are a shit-show though. That's what I've heard from some canadians anyway.

Why would you sell your AR rifle for a cheap conscript gun?
>>30992922
He's a slavboo who takes " grab sks and head innawoods " literally

>stop liking what I don't like
>all guns are shit if they aren't an AR brand AR
I got 2 sks's and I modded the less great one into a type of AK clone. I love them, but I'm also a syrup drinker, so take from that what you will.
>>30992716
If your AR is of equivalent value, I would. Especially if it's a nice all original Russian. Lower end ARs will eternally be cheap poorfag shit.
>>30992716
If it's a Russian or East German SKS in great condition like you see in the picture? Go for it.
ARs are a dime a dozen and can be easily replaced. An excellent or higher quality East German or Russian SKS are worth quite a bit and fairly hard to come by.
Historic weapons only become more valuable over time if they're original and kept in good condition.

>AR = late model sports car
>SKS = 1960's jeep
Dude... I don't know if you're trolling or just stupid, but the AR platform is far from any "late model", being developed in the 1960's.
Also, SKS was designed in 1944, so it'd be closer to a T34 than a jeep. Even more so because it's built like one and has more power.

Being this autistic
Anyone have one of those fiberglass jungle stocks? If so, would you recommend it?
>>30993212
>has more power
The memes never end.
>>30993075
>ak clone
>that piece of hot garbage
Gtfo
>>30993390
do you have the dumb today? that's just a fact that 762x39 carries more energy downrange
>>30992716
>>30993043
I was neither saying nor implying that. But the sks is shit compared to any modern gun
>>30993459
Those are fighting words
but I still agree with you
>>30992922
They're both cheap conscript guns, 2bh. Why not get the one you like?
>>30993459
>But the sks is shit compared to any modern gun
You point the gun, it goes bang and makes things holy.
They're not THAT different.
>>30992716
do et
>>30993416
O-okay
>>30993470
Tonight, you
>>30993544
Let's see
AR - takes magazines that can be quickly changed
-very optics friendly even in its oldest configuration
- accuracy is comparable if not better than many more modern service rifles
-can be free floated
-1.8 billion aftermarket accessories
Sks
-lol clips
-meh accuracy
-aftermarket, nyet rifle is fine
-optics, see previous
>>30993517
What world are you in where anything but a minority of conscript armies use AR series rifles?
>>30993675
>ok it's a conscript rifle, but not THAT much of one
it was literally developed to be handed to conscripts
>>30993716
It was developed well before the draft was instituted, but I see what you mean. When someone says conscript to me though, I picture slavs who can barely read, not American or Israeli troops who just would rather not be there
>>30993659
strippers load a magazine damn fast and fit in your pockets comfortably, and some people actually find manipulating their guns and clip loading to be an extremely fun and important part of the experience
unless your goal is to burn through ammo/money as fast as possible, 30rd mags don't really help or hurt the average shooting experience(get your shtf fantasies out of here)
accuracy is just fine, not my fault if you buy shit wolf ammo instead of GT
aftermarket parts/optics are not the purpose of buying slav guns in general, so that argument is irrelevant to most buyers who want an sks
anyone have information on Kalashnikov USA? Their website is pretty vacant. I'd love to know if they're making Russian model SKS.
>>30993746
Kalashnikov USA isn't going to make shit, the most they were able to manage were some models they imported from Russia before the ban and a badly cobbled together kit gun. They're not even related to the actual Kalashnikov Concern of Russia.
>>30993740
A stripper takes at least three times as long to load 5-10 rounds versus me taking about 2 seconds to load 30. And you saying aftermarket is unnecessary is English for nyet, rifle is fine. I'm not saying no one should ever buy an sks if they want one, but comparatively it's a much less effective rifle that's heavier and costs almost as much used as it does to build a cheap AR. And golden tiger is garbage compared to any medium quality .223 in terms of accuracy
It's really funny how mugi and flandre can troll you all so hard and you all fall right into their traps
>>30993746
vaporware squatting on a trademark vacated by an international trade squabble, they have no connection to Kalashnikov Concern and will never produce a product
>>30992801
I really know that feel. It is the same reason I'll choose any bolt action just because it feels better operating the action for every round. Needing to take the time to load via a stripper clip makes me feel better than swapping out a mag in seconds. Just popping shots doesn't feel good for targets. I know it is way more practical if I need to use my funs for self defense, but on the range it feels better. I find myself capable of firing far longer at the range when I use an SKS or nugget over an AR. And call me a fudd, but I am not fond of all the tacticool shit I can put on my AR.
