/pol/PA here, living near-ish to Philadelphia. I recently picked up a nice off-the-shelf AR-15 (Sport II) and decked it out with a slide-fire stock, with the understanding that the death of a single black Berniebro at the recent DNC protests could've caused the whole city to go belly-up with rioting. Fortunately, nobody died.

I also took your advice and bought 1000 rounds of cheap brass, from LuckyGunner (PMC-XTAC,) a few magazines, a couple of milspec ammo cans, and a floating, portable gun-case. /k/, I've got to hand it to you for talking me into this gun, and out of the golden Deagle. I was able to afford this beast and everything else that I bought with it at about half the price of the fully-modded Deagle that I was planning. I'll still get that gun eventually as a sidearm, but this is definitely the better option as a "main gun" for when S-inevitably-HTF... and I think that is probably going to happen sooner rather than later.

I'm currently saving up for a Beta-C 100 round drum, a stockpile each of steel-core and starburst rounds (maybe throw in some tracers for good measure,) and a nice optic. My only question is this: What is the best, most cost-effective optic for the AR-15 platform? I'm really not looking to spend a ton here, but I also know just as well as anyone else here that skimping out on optics is a bad move. Also, is a forward grip worth its weight for a slide-fire-capable gun? I've heard good things, but never used one myself so I figured I'd ask here.

Aside from paperwork and wait to get my hands on some nice funs, there are several in the family, being mostly breech loading 12g, which were used mostly for hunting...
Aside from that, there are some lever action (30-30 and 44-40) and an M1 carabine and pistols (Luger, Colt 1911 and Gold Cup) with paperwork and somewhere in the garden is buried an oil drum in which there are sealed bags with a Vigneron (origin unsure) and two M1paratrooper carabines.
Plus some ammo to go with that and some reloading station, but we need to clean it up and figure it out first

A slide from bullet drop 300 carries more energy out to distance. Also isn't blown around as easily as 223. But if I run out of 300 I have an extra 223 barrel of the same brand. IMO they're both great rounds. I just wish I had the money for a real battle rifle at the moment.

Get an eotech dont listen to what people say about the recall. If you zeroed it in a desert and then went to the arctic its off by like an inch at 100 yards.

The fact is its what military and law enforcement use for a good reason. Put dot on baddie and pull trigger.

It also uses AA battiries easy to find and buy. One pair of battries gets you 10,000 hours of life so its not like it will suck it down either.

The eotech also works great with a magnifier, so you need to make a long shot boop flip over your 3 or 4 or whatever X magnifier you still see the dot right there. Bang. Done with the zoom flip it back over and your close quarters again.

If your ever conused about whats good. Look at what the seals and people who are trained to shoot use. They use eotech

I have an eotech 552 its exactly what seals and police use. It has a button on it that you press that can turn on night vision mode so you can use it with goggles and not get blinded.
Did i need that no it was 70 bucks extra for something im not going to use. But its what i wanted.

Your prolly going to look at the eotech 512, its exactly the same as the 552 just no night vision. Uses AA batteries and everything. Even a non gun can pick up a gun with an eotech put that sexy dot on target and hit.


Eotech did have a " recall" where if you wanted you could send in your eotech and they would pay you what you paid for it. The "recall" was because if you zeroed ( made the dot on the sight line up with where the bullet will hit) in temps like 140 degrees freedom, then took the gun to a place that was -40 degrees freedom the dot vs where the bullet hit moved like 2 inches. But im not worried about that.

Recent NY hasguns here. Just got a 10/22 with 4 10rd mags, amd an SKS with 30 stripper clips. 500 roundseach of 22lr and 7.62x39.

What guns next? Keep in mind NY. Also best way yto store ammo long term? What else should i get besides ammo and guns for shtf.

All things being equal I'd take 300, but x39 is cheap and plentiful. 300 is a very much a special purpose round, and without suppressing it I see no reason to choose it as a primary caliber for a SHTF scenario.

Sights-guy here. Milspec ammo cans for storage. Everyone here seems to use them. They're great for keeping out moisture, and ridiculously durable to the point where you can run over some of them with a multi-ton truck or drop them in an ocean and they'll still be fine. Just don't leave them on a concrete floor or they'll sap moisture.

Playing the entire fallout series sonce tge 90's I always bought every available scrap of ammo by trading everyyhing I lifted from dungeons that were not nailed down.

I think at the end of fallout 2 I had 7,000 rounds of shot shells, 8,000 micro fusion cell batteries same with about every other kind of ammo and kept it in the trunk of the car.

I think I kept at least 200 rounds of ammo on each npc and myself.

You have to remember most encounters and battles only lasted about one reload if that of ammo, unless fighting mosterous creatures.

Early game I had Sulik with sharpened spear, Vic and Cassidy with 44. Revolvers with speed loaders and I had a Desert eagle with Extended mag and then mid to late game Sulik had a super sledge and vic and cassidy had pancor jackhammers but I ordered then to shoot single shot only and I was using the .223 pistol, so one turn of accurate single fire most enemies died in one shot and sulik just mopped up.
