Hey, /k/, sorry for the somewhat random question but I was wondering if there's a strict pattern on how fireteams are denominated (e.g. color, number). I'm mostly curious about US, but any country works.
Also, do fire teams have any other designated role other than overwatch, assault and support?
No they are not color coded.
Over watch, assault and support are basic infantry tasks.

So how do you call out your fire teams as a sergeant let's say?

>eotech infront of carry handle irons
>guy with carry handle irons
>guy with irons that aren't carry handle type
What's with all the odd mix and match?

The FDF uses numbers for fireteams. Either divided into two half-squads or three fireteams.
>Also, do fire teams have any other designated role other than overwatch, assault and support?
They take on whatever role they can and need to. A fireteam with AT weaponry will obviously be an AT-team, an MG team will be used for suppressive fire and a fireteam with mostly rifles will be in the assault.
Naturally, the compositions and weaponry in squads and fireteams change depending on the country and even corps, so the US army will have different fireteams than the US marines, for example and will thus have different tactical usages and tendencies in combat.
