Do I have any options? Or just waiting?

Is there any recourse? Or is waiting the only thing I have to do?

I have my fitness assesment in 10 days. Need to get 9.1 on the beep test. Not sure if i can pull it off....
>>

You know what a beep test is.
Do it every day until it's tested.
Work that shit up.
>>
>>30989253
>>30989396
wtf is a beep test
>>
>>30989435
I can't say the specific distance because I don't know.
Imagine 100m. There's a time you need to run that. Then a beep sounds.
Every beep time gets shorter so you have to run that 100m in shorter amount of time.

The beep test is how long can you go with each interval getting shorter and shorter.
Can you run 100 m in 30 seconds? 20 seconds? 10 seconds? 5 seconds?
The beep test finds out

It's running with the destination getting further and further away.

>>
>>30989757
They told me my branch doesn't matter.

I tried for Air Force, but again, they said it doesn't matter.

I don't know what rate/mos means.

All I know is that I signed up, did some test, and then said that my rating was "Competitive".

The recruiter also said that they only take 4 a year, and my rating was still competitive.
That makes me feel good, but I want to know what actual people think about Intel.
>>
>>30989820
>They told me my branch doesn't matter.
Wtf are you talking about?
Who told you that?
>All I know is that I signed up, did some test, and then said that my rating was "Competitive"
Signed up where? Dude you are making no sense, who the fuck did you talk to?
Every contract is different, some are 4 and some are longer. In general intel community is great one. But you gotta explain wtf is going on.
>>
>>30989860
I'm Canadian so I figure everything I say makes no sense to anyone who signed up beyond the 70s.

My recruiter said that my application and aptitude test goes to all three branches.

If my trade comes up in any of them, they'd notify me.

Again, I'm Canadian, so I expect everything about my military experience to be 10+ years behind the American

All I want is to be an Intel officer, in whatever branch.
I got the grades, and evidently the aptitude.

Thats advice for training, aka BCT, Ait, OSUT, stuff like that.
>Volunteer as much as you can
Thats once you are at your unit, ship, division or whatever.

Volunteering in general is just gonna make you seem like a suck up/try hard but hey if you wanna go for it.

Chances are there wont be anything you could volunteer fot in OSUT anyway, basic trainings in general are designed to give the exact same experience to everyone so every student comes out knowing the same stuff. Again, the fleet/big army is different.
>>
>>30990299
Littetaly just the army reserves. For some reason the beep test minimum grade is extremely high. Others requirements are 10 push ups and 30 sit ups which are so much easier.

Considering that the most active duty time you can get in one enlistment is 4 years, no. Why do it for the pay when you can be an electrical engineer. If you really wanted to, be an officer. But then again you might feel the same after o-3 assuming you stay in long enough.

In the United States we have the ASVAB. The lowest score to get a chance to enter SF is a 110 GT. My infantry brother retook the ASVAB and scored a 112 GT. We PT'd the death out of us. We ran for 25 miles with 50 lbs rucks. That was after every day of Infantry training.

He ended up breaking his leg due to the intense stress. I DEROSed back to the states and became a ranger . 3rd bn 75th rgr. Easy compared to what we put ourselves through.
>>
>>30991473
Isn't RASP more physically challenging and strenuous than SFAS?
>>
>>30991473
How's Ranger life anyway?

Everything you'd thought it be?

How long do you intend to keep going at it?
>>
>>30991473
Thought the ASVAB was was like a IQ test with out any physical component? In Aus we have an aptitude test which is a glorified IQ test that gives a general overview of the jobs you qualify for, followed by another more mechanical and mathematical focused test for people going into more technical roles.

The entry fitness test is slightly different for each service but for the males in the army it's 15 push ups, 45 sit ups and 7.5 of the shuttle run (note these are absolute minimums and if you go to basic only meeting that you'll get absolutely destroyed). SF direct entry is higher 30 push ups, 60 sit ups and 10.1 on the shuttle run. This is much better level to aim at as a minimum before starting basic. At the completion of recruit training you'll have to be able to do a minimum of 40 push ups, 70 sit up and do a 2.4km run in 11:18. The majority of people even the pogs will easily do 50+ push ups, 100 sit ups and get 10 or under on the run.

I just don't feel I could be able to do it. The yelling and getting screamed at isn't even the reason why, and the least of my worries.

I just don't feel like I could ever pass any of the physical tests. I can only do like 5 push-ups at best, could never do a pull up, I can run alright, but I would never be able to do the miles and miles every day.

Plus, in my working out to even attempt to enlist after talking to a recruiter, I got the worst case if jock itch I cannot get rid of. Nothing is getting rid of the shit and it's spreading.

Not extremely rare. It's called HPSP, but you have to get in touch with a special medical recruiter to get started.

>>
>>30994539
Nah nah, what I meant was that is 68W a good mos in general? I'm gonna try for HPSP, I know you need a bachelor's degree. What I dont know is
1. Which mos to actually apply for
2. Is HPSP very competitive.

Sorry for causing the misunderstanding
>>
>>30994595
You can't get a degree once you're already in the military and become a pilot?
>>
>>30994801
If you want to be a pilot you don't want to waste a few years as a mechanic.
>>
>>30994801
No, prior enlistment might help getting into OCS. Some of the knowledge you'll learn will be applicable towards flight school.

But if you enlist now, it will be about 8 years before you get into flight school as you will have to finish up your enlistment and then finish school. By then, you might not remember everything and the first 4 might not be as useful as your recruiter is making it out to be.
>>
>>30994646

If you can get into med school and have kept your nose clean, you can probably get into HPSP.

Med school is very competitive on its own, far moreso than HPSP.
>>
>>30995009

Pretty much all branches let you cut short your enlistment to go to OCS or ROTC.

Being prior enlisted is pretty useless in terms of being competitive for commissioning though. They'll usually take the 22 year old fresh college grad with a good GPA over the 28 year old NCO with a mediocre GPA.

I'm thinking about joining the USMC. Is there anything i need to know or do? I spoke with a recruiter today but i thoight i'd hear what you all have to say about it. Has anyone here served in the armed forces, and if so, what was it like?

I fucking goofed, the recruiter told me it'd be alright to admit I'd seen a counselor in the past (I've got documentation from her and another saying I'm fine) and now I've been rejected.
I have a high asvab score and I'm in shape, is there anything I can do to get around this next time or am I just fucked for life?

I know I'm stupid for this etc. I just have a problem with lying

Question;

If I enlist in the usmc, what's the shortest time I can enlist for? I'm only doing it to "say I did it." How does the "x amount of years and y amount of time inactive." Work exactly? Interested in 0311.
>>
>>30999696
The shortest you can sign for is 4 years active and 4 years primary reserve or whatever they call it now, active is self explanatory but the primary reserve is just anytime in that 4 years if there is a war they can call you back up.

Does having a dual citizenship ruin your chances of being a pilot? My wife's son is applying to the naval and airforce academy (which he definetley can get into) next year and i dont want to go through the hassle of getting him recomended by a senator and managing the paperwork if he cant. Im from belgium and my wife is from the us, he is born in the us and has both the nationalities. Also, does anyone know a website with the exact requirements for the medical exams for both the Navy and Airforce. (Sorry for the bad spelling i speak a very poor english)

Alright so I'm gonna throw this out there.

I'm joining the Guard. Infantry or Combat Engineer?

>"You will barely do your job and it won't be high-speed"

I'm aware. I'm thinking of eventually going out for my State's SF unit, but want to get my feet wet first.

>"Why aren't you just going Active?"

I have a good job that understands the nature of the Guard and own very good property I don't want to give up, while still serving my time. I'm 28 and don't want to live in the barracks.

So, Infantry or Engineer? Or should I just do my state's REP-63 program right away?

GS:58 AR:49 WK:58 PC:58 MK:58 EL:57 AS:54 MC:60 AO:60 VE:59

How screwed am I? I feel the AR score is going to fuck me up. Most of the jobs in Coast Guard look like they need a minimum 52 AR score.

Done any spooky shit?

Is there anything one should learn before IET? I'm guessing reading coordinates, maps, etc, for starters, but there's so little official information about 35F. What do they actually need you to learn?
>>
>>31003258

Whatever everyone else is doing, with some occasional Intel work on the side. What does anyone do?

We're all just waiting to actually do our jobs, the NG usually isn't saving anyone from anything. So just warrior tasks, new software training, fixing vehicles. Typical soldier shit.

Pretty gay, but it was my best bet for now.
>>
>>31003485

All Intel work is largely personality based.

There's some technical skill involved, meaning skills that a soldier should have to do certain shit. Not computer whiz shit, that's just the army's term for performing tangible tasks.

After that, it's all up top.

I saw people who could write code and memorize shit all day long who couldn't think like an Intel faggot. As a regular /k/ poster, you'll be well prepared. A day in a SCIF is like a thread on /k/.

I've done some stuff you might call spooky shit, working domestically.

The government has a weird approach to a lot of stuff, that I can say. Working contingency planning is juicy.
>>
>>31003470
Those scores probably won't qualify for a couple things, but 74 AFQT is not a bad score

AR is not taken by itself. For example, the GT (General Technical) score is one the most important and it combines AR+VE. So your GT would be 108.

Get an idea about what you'd want to in that branch first. If your scores are limiting, just schedule for another test and study more. I think you can take it again in one month, then it's 3 months, or something like that.
>>

It doesn't matter what branch you put on your application because you will not get it. The DA form 61 has absolutely no bearing on what branch you will get via OCS. At most it will affect the questions you get asked by your OCS board.

>>
>>31008284
tl;dr it opens more holes to investigate. It shouldn't matter if you're doing grunt shit, but it's investigative work if you're needing an SF86 done.

Talking to the recruiter about it won't matter. The recruiter's job is to recruit you and dress you up as best as he can so you can make it through MEPS (a more unbiased vetting process).

Since those are mostly white people countries it probably won't matter even if you do mention it. They just don't like brown/yellow countries.

>I doubt it only cause im pretty sure if you become a CTI they assign you a language based on needs of the navy no matter what.
Ex-1N3 here, can confirm.

Those who sign up for linguist generally get placed in linguist, because the military does the shotgun approach. If you qualify for the job (which statistically, not many do), they'll push you through it. You'll either pass, or wash out with 80% of the school.

Language assignments are based on needs for enlisted. Only officers get some choice in their language. Japanese might give you a slight bias for getting a Chinese assignment. Knowing Korean will likely place you in Korean.

Common/easy languages are not in demand and are pretty much officer-only, and supplemental. Unless you know one of the following languages (in that case, they do try to match you up for better success), you'll get picked for one of these:
>Chinese
>Russian
>Arabic (or one of the umpteen offshoots)
>Korean
>>
>>31008469
No, all those are concurrent. The time that you owe for BOLC runs out before the 3 years that you already owe, so it doesn't matter.

New obligations only matter if they are longer than your current obligation.

Me, for example, I owe 4.5 years for language training, and after I finish grad school I will owe 3 more years... but those two time periods end at the same time. It doesn't add to 7.5 years.
>>
>>31008312

HALO, dive school, air assault, airborne, pathfinder. There's a fuckton more than those that are less well-known because they don't give you badges and shit. You generally won't get most of the niche stuff in conventional Army though.

Unless you're wanting to go into some coolguy unit, focusing on MOS-relevant schools will take you farther than hooah schools, and they look better on a resume.

POGs get jobs, yo.

Meps is tomorrow, no prior medical anything. Today I passed out, I woke up on the floor in the living room with no memory of how I got there. Took an x-ray of my chest, ekg for my heart, and a ct scan of my head. They found nothing but recommended a specialist.

I think I've been working out too hard but idk cus I'm chubby and it's not an intensive work out.

Alright so I'm gonna throw this out there.

I'm joining the Massachusetts Guard. Infantry or Combat Engineer? Anybody from MA who can give me some insight on how their units are?

>"You will barely do your job and it won't be high-speed"

I'm aware. I'm thinking of eventually going out for my State's SF unit, but want to get my feet wet first.

>"Why aren't you just going Active?"

I have a good job that understands the nature of the Guard and own very good property I don't want to give up, while still serving my time. I'm 28 and don't want to live in the barracks.
>>
>>31013269
I'm an infantry reservist from another country but I'm going to give my 2c whether you care or not.
Of those two I'd choose infantry as combat engineer seems lame to me building bridges and cutting trees and that shit.
But I'd recommend a cavalry or cavalry scout 100x over infantry if you have that option. If you don't like being in vehicles (which will change after you start walking around with a pack) go for a recon/scout role, sneaky more enjoyable training

Ya except the amount is insanely negligible. IF it were that easy then every fat ass in the world would easily loose weight by just drinking protein shakes faggot.

Listen to me, these idiots you are talking to are feeding you a line of bullshit. They dont know what they are talking about and you are going to crash from this stupid ass meme diet. You cant starve yourself or else your hormones will crash and so will your metabolism. Eat a real dinner that will keep you full. Just use no butter or oils and youll be fine. Look above, chicken breast sweet potato and brocolli. Go look up the fucking calories.
All you need to do is eat around 1700 calories and youre fine. PLan your meals out accordingly. If you are a male of healthy age and height and are goig to be working out youll loose 2 lbs a week on that roughly. If you are more active up your calories. Loosing anymore than 2lbs a week will fuck you up.

Go at the minimum pace. Relax. You can do it.
>>
>>31017066

Totally normal in America, DESU. Especially if you consider 400 calories of dessert to be a standard part of dinner.

We're not talking people on a diet here. Tons of everyday civilians toss back >1,000 calorie meals fairly often. Two slices of pizza + some other shit will get you there pretty easy. Hell, if you get a pasta dish at a shitty chain restaurant some of those break 2,000 calories all on their own.

So, yeah, swapping whatever shitty meal you're eating for a protein shake will pretty much immediately impose a 600+ calorie deficit.
>>
>>31017100

18X get a shitty Secret clearance. It's easy to pass. I can totally understand people who want to get into spoopy shit and have to take polygraphs being worried. Coolguys usually don't get their fingers in all that shit, so stop stressing about it.

>hes far better served still eating dinner, just s far healthier version.

He'd be far, far better served getting a butler to home-cook him perfectly portioned and nutritious meals.

The reason "swap it for a shake" works is that it's fucking easy. People can actually do it. Buying a bunch of shit and cooking it on a regular basis just leads to ordering pizza out of laziness.
>>
>>31017853
How are 18x considered special forces if they don't have a TS?
>>
>>31017977

This. The best diet is the one you can stick to, not the one that works best in theory.
>>
>>31017978

Most Special Forces don't have a TS. Trigger pullers don't need to know TS information to do their jobs.

Civilians get this idea that TS stuff must be Jason Bourne blackops bullshit. Tactical/Operational level intelligence is almost always sanitized down to just the Secret level so you can give it out to all the trigger pullers. TS is usually reserved for pasty basement-dwellers.
>>
>>31018072
>>31017977
SO let me get this straight,
cooking chicken breasts in the oven, multiple ones at a time so you have multiple meals,
Cooking rice in a cooker, again you can use it for multiple meals,
Steaming a good amount of brocolli, again again you can use it for multiple meals,
Thats to difficult to stick to???
You people are fucking idiots, if he just drinks a protein shake he is going to be starving, hes going to crash and gorge on food.
He wont be able to sleep or concentrate let alone workout cause he will be starving. You have to actually eat otherwise you crash and rebound and binge. Extreme crash diets always fail. Set a goal and stick to it. 1700 calories a day of real food is going to keep him full and fueled.
>>31017978
>special forces if they don't have a TS?
Almost none of them have a TS, its not like the movies kid.
>>
>>31018279

>Thats to difficult to stick to???

It's difficult enough to stick to it that a fuckton of Americans are giant hamplanets. So, yeah.

Cooking healthy is *simple*, but it isn't *easy*. Drinking a shake is both. That's the difference.

Drinking a shake isn't a crash diet. It'll leave you full once you get used to it.

No it wont, it isnt a magic potion that fills you up somehow.

hes going to be starving, do you not understand this? Do you know what the word starving means? He will be hungry as fuck and wont be able to sleep, he wont be able to recover from his workouts and his body will think hes starving and go into survival mode. He needs to have a slight caloric defecit not an enormous one. PLus the act of chewing and having solid substances in your stomach is more satiating than a fucking shake.
