Hey, /k/, I'm becoming interested in getting something for concealed carry, and was wondering if we could have a thread for it.

I'm pretty much a newfag when it comes to pistols, but this one piques my interest:

Taurus Millenium PT140 G2

I don't know if it fits all these parameters, but I'd like a reliable compact with the following:

>Under $500
>Can mount a flashlight with a narrow beam
>Double stack magazine
>Possibly colored iron sights for low light

Any suggestions?
>>
>Taurus
Couldn't you get a S&W SD9VE for under $400? They also sell those in .40
>>
I have the previous generation. The Millenium Pro. Its been a good gun, doesnt like steelcased and trigger is sloppy but it shoots well. I've heard positive things about the G2. Looking back I'd rather get something like an LC9 but going off my example its not bad for the price
>>
>>30983159
Colored sites are still lame in low light situations.
Tritium sites aren't that expensive- but make sure someone makes them for the g2, Taurus had almost zero support in the past (last millennium didn't have dove tails that fit, had to modify someone else's to fit).
>>
>>30983159
The xd9 mod2 subcompact has everything g you want
>>
>>30983212
I have a millennium and an sd9.
Can't stand the s&w.
It actually bothers me, I've been shooting s&w's for 30 years and always considered them top tier, but their new lines of entry level pieces are a let down.
>>
>>30983281
Its also a passive safety, the g2 is legacy.
Don't know if it mattes to OP, but most people prefer one over the other.
>>
You can get all that for under 400 and not have to own a taurus, keep looking

Thanks, like I said though, I'm a newfag with pistols. Is a passive safety the plate thing integrated into the 1911 grip? Legacy being a switch on the side?

I have never heard those terms passive and legacy with firearms. So I do not know what anon meant by that.
>>
>>30983478
The xd is good for you IMO. It has a grip safety, trigger safety and a loaded chamber indicator. I got it on sale for 499.00 and the dude hooked it up with a 10% discount. Came with a 13& 16 Rd mags.

Check out the Taurus Armed forum.

My first (and only so far) gun was the Taurus Pt1111 millenium g2.

I got it for $249 on sale and it will probably be the last Taurus gun I buy.

The rear sight screw came off and the gun has a terrible trigger.

Listen to everyone here and fucking stay away from Taurus.

Yeah man great gun. You won't regret it. I appendix carry with a concealment express kydex holster.
>>
>>30983159

I have the Millennium G2. I shoot nice tight groups with it and haven't had a lick of trouble. It was a hell of a deal when I got it a year ago for $300 and now you can get them at a hair over $200. I am considering getting a second one to leave in my car. The guy who said it doesn't like steel is right (aluminum either) but I have put several magazines with FMJ and hollowpoints mixed and it hasn't missed a beat.

I'm torn between this or a glock 26. How is the 9c treating you?

I've decided on a CZ999 compact currently for my first concealed carry gun. Worried about not finding any aftermarket parts in case shit breaks but otherwise it fits my needs pretty well.

I also love the p226 so I enjoy that it's basically a Serbian copy.
>>
>>30983159
The best thing for concealed carry is a gun. You should buy a gun, anon.
>>
>>30984372
Not this guy but I CC a M&P 9c practically everyday. I'm a tall guy 6'2'' 210 and it fits my hand well with the pinkie extension. Replaced the trigger with an apex kit, but even before hand I never had a complaint with the OEM trigger. At this point probably shot close to 1k rounds through it and no failures so far. Only complaint is if the slide is locked open and you slam a magazine in the slide release, well releases, clambering a round. Some see it as an unintended feature though.
>>
I used to have a ruger lc9s pro. seemed great at the time, felt good, looked good, was fairly cheap, but was innacurrate and snappy. plus I hated everything about the trigger, long, soft and squishy, and had one of those double trigger safteys that i despise.

whats a good compact with a good SA trigger, that isnt a snappy little shit, and has either no saftey or a switch saftey? Im considering getting a cz70 for this, or a revolver since I dont think what I want exists.

Regrets not buying the 9 every day

>.40 on a compact

enjoy not hitting shit

I recommend looking into the Glock G43, OP.

I bought one for around $430 a few months ago and I really enjoy it. Easy to clean, maintain, and conceal. 9mm rounds aren't wildly expensive either. Downside is that it's a single-stack that only holds six rounds (seven if chambered), so you'd find yourself reloading sooner than desired if things got rough.

I still enjoy it.

S&W M&P9c

Make sure you get one made after 2015 so it has the new trigger in it. It has a double stack 12 round magazine, a rail that can take a small light like the Streamlight TLR-3 or Viridian C5L, there are aftermarket sights to replace the standard white dot sights (though some come with nightsights [pre-installed)

It comes with two magazines and three interchangeable back-straps for best grip. No matter which model you get it's going to be under $500 most of the time. just shop around or use gunbroker.
