In my opinion the Persin Gulf/Desert Storm and Soviet-Afghan war are the most aesthetic ones of all time

That is probably the reason, seeing true camos, not "digital" crap, soldiers actually knew how to use sights, tanks and jets were actually combat proven, not just propaganda bullshit for circlejerking with "secret tech" that is never tested because they only bomb ragheads.
Those were the days.

Back when there was no internet, soldiers would only knew about foreign equipment via Osprey or something, so finding captured gear was much more fun.

Back in the day when the debate was F-15 vs MiG-29 we saw both in action in different places or against each other, nowadays when we read about PAK-FA and F-22 people just circle jerk over propaganda and we will probably never see both in action

OP here, I agree with all of your points. too many of circle jerks aren't actually proven in fighter combat and our troops look like mall ninjas. war just feels so non-aesthetic. the Vietnam War was kind of aesthetic, but is hard to use a term like that when my great uncle can't talk about Vietnam.
