I think the ones that have actually have the real problems have either died off, killed themselves by now or crawled into a dark hole and don't want help. My uncle was a door gunner. I don't know what all he went through but apparently it fucked him up but good. The most he's ever been willing to talk about is that he was shot down once. He doesn't deal with it well and it's apparent but he doesn't get any benefits. My mom urged him for years to seek out help. It's free and could have helped him live a happier life but he'd just rather stick to his routine. Dude practically lives like a robot. He loves electronics and working on computers but he's paranoid as fuck that the government will track him for some reason and doesn't even have the internet. When he goes down to his brother in laws house and uses it all he does is look up old friends he served with. Complete falsehood. Again, the M14 uses literally the same sight system as the Garand. You can throw WWII lock bars on an M14 if you like even. No issues with Garands losing zero were presented. The M1 Garand was a well-made, well-designed gun.

The M14 was not. They may have used a similar action and they might have even looked similar from a distance, but that's it.

There was a study in the 1960's that compared 4 different rifles: the M16, the AK47, the M14, and the M1 Garand. Guess which weapon was rated worst? M14, because it weighed more than the Garand but was far less reliable.
