Anyone ever use the M3/M4/M5/M6/M7 bayonet as a field knife? Despite the fact that they're bayonets, the look like they'd hold up pretty well since they have a full tang.

We had this super hyper motivated Asian dude in our unit. I think he was Filipino. We jumped into the invasion of Panama and the PDF and others were shooting at us. He missed the drop zone by quite a bit. He low crawled to a fence, used his M9 Phrobis to cut a patch through it, then made his way to the drop zone, avoiding enemy contact.
After that night, we all held him in high regard and thought differently of the M9 bayonet.
He could have chilled out, killed a few people at his leisure then rallied with the 7th ID and had a fun time but instead, he fought his way back to us in order to be a part of our combat air assaults.
He is a hard core motherfucker with a bayonet.

I'm not a fan of the M9, too many trips back to the Q Store to get a broken one exchanged.
I eventually just requested an M7 and I have had the same bayonet got the last six years.
As for the wife cutter, it's good on chain link fencing but is useless against tempered concertina wire. It also takes too long to deploy and return unless you are gust dropping back into a poucj. A good old 1944 drop forged folding wire cutter is quicker and won't cut the shut out of your dump pouch the way dropping a bayonet into it will.
I loved the old L1A1 SLR bayonet, durable, reliable and cheep.

Stop buying cheap shit.
Guys, I'm looking for a Swedish M1965 Bayonet. I'm currently in Sweden near the Gothenburg area, anyone can help me?

>full tang means knife is automatically good for field use
No. If anything, a full tang just means a knife is more balanced in the hand because it's got more material in the handle. A knife made of cheap pot steel is still able to break or chip if used inappropriately. Bayonets, with their thin blade and double-edged grind, lack the heft and blade geometry necessary for effective field use.

I don't have to buy cheep shit.
The government issues it to me.
The list price for M9s when you buy by the thousand is $85.00
For M7s, $80.00
For comparison, the Ontario air warrior knife is $230 each when you buy in lots of a hundred.
