It really doesn't matter what sort of gear you pack in preparation. The most important tool in a SHTF scenario is your brain. Be as adaptable as possible, learn how to procure clean water, how to start a fire, and how to defend yourself without weapons if the situation ever arises. GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND.
