I'm currently in Pittsburgh training some PA, NY and New England teams. My bag was stolen out of my vehicle while I was getting lunch. The bag is pretty distinctive, having such patches as

Some of these I got through trading with other EMS/Fire/Medical, others I got through work, but they all hold a sentimental value to me.

The Pittsburgh PD called me and said they had recovered my bag and old me where to go. So I went, albeit 6 hours after they called me, and in those 6 hours they had lost the bag.

Mind you there's probably nothing that looksl ike this thing. There's about 18-24 patches on it, and it quite frankly looks horrible, but it means a ton to me. The material loss was negligable (a $40 pocket tool, a $20 hoodie and some other junk) but nothing can replace those memories for me.

I'd be happy to give some tips if that may help.
I'd recommend trying to learn keyboard shortcuts, maybe not all, but the simple ones (some that may only have a single letter after Control)

Also for your stencils, don't go though some contrast and lighting manipulation. it's unprecise and complicated.
Practice by making them from scratch (doesn't matter if you can't draw). Make your reference image much much bigger, then on a different layer, use the polygonal lasso and start making some shapes, then fill them. Pic related is some recent warmup on illustrator that used the same technique I've just described. I've drawn the face over the picture and moved it just for this screencap

Thanks mate. I need to verse myself better with the paths, rather than relying on pixels it seems. I can draw okay, and I've been taking images, creating a tracing, then trying to maipulate the tracing. I had hoped there was a quick way to incorporate the line drawing into a digital format without having to hand-trace each line. it's somewhat of a pain trying to use multi-finger controls on a Mac. I guess it wouldn't be an issue if I'm just clicking with the lasso tool.
