I need to get one of those gi kits.
Well guys, my Springfield was a lemon, so I'm in the market for a new 1911. Has anyone tried Colt's Series 70 reproduction line at all? Do they still have collet bushings, or did they switch to solid? Any other good choices for a government style model?
And for fun, your personal preference: Stainless, blued, or parkerized?
>>30967027
they switched to solid bushings ages ago
>>30967095
>>30966959
i love the 1911
>>30967027
Please explain how its a lemon. Most 1911 problems are mag related, extractor adjusting, or polishing ramp can cure
>>30967027
I just sent my 1911 in to be worked on by Springfield under warranty. It was having FTEject, causing the whole gun to lock up. I assume they'll look at my ejector, guide rod, recoil spring, and extractor. I don't think it was mags/ammo since I've only run federal 230gr and Hornady JHPs through it for around 750 rounds now. Hopefully, it comes back soon.
here's my work in progress so far
>>30967101
Much saltier Pre-war commercial 1911A1. Made in Hartford and sold into service with the Argentinian Capital Police. Refinished in black oxide bluing from rusty bare metal.
I really want the RIA Nickel 38 Super
Would that be a bad move?
>>30966959
There are a lot like it but this one is mine.
XSE Delta Elite, or Springfield Loaded .45 ACP?
>>30966959
Mmmm... 1911 mags...
>>30969696
Saw a guy at the show in my area with one. What is it besides sexy?
Delta elite or rail gun
>>30969720
Marlin Camp 45. Real cool plinker, just not worth the massively inflated prices you see on Gunbroker. If you see one for <$500, snap that mother up while cackling like a madman. Got mine off an LGS used rack for either $500 or $550 back in 2011/2012. They stopped making them in '99.

Reposting this from another thread:
I'm picky as hell with my guns, and I made the mistake of ordering it online since it was slightly better priced than brick and mortar. Seemed alright at first, but I didn't inspect it as much as I should have. Here's some gripes with it:
>Out of the box light-strikes with that goofy titanium firing pin/ ILS that they had installed, replaced that immediately (problem solved)
>Extremely loose frame-to-slide fit, but that's just me being particular
>Glued in Ejector with adhesive residue that I had to remove, not even pinned
>Substantially large burr on the grip safety, enough to almost break the skin under recoil. I would correct it, but I don't want to risk lowering resale since I was already kind of bummed by then.
>Small parts like sear, disconnector,etc... feel kind of chintzy and have large casting sprue on them.
Although this is a long list of complaints, it really isn't a bad gun, just not the one that I was hoping to have
>>30970658
I think complaints #2,3,4 are valid. I don't see much wrong with MIM if it's done correctly. You don't hear people bitching about Geissele triggers being MIM.
>>30970872
>You don't hear people bitching about Geissele triggers being MIM.
That would be because they are injection molded.
Behold the ingenuity of Remington. New fiber optic color means it's a new gun
>>30969775
Thanks for the info m8. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
>>30967027
I went with blued finish for mine. It is gorgeous in person. My thumb safety is a little plumb, but I dig it.
>>30967101
>>30967095
oof, all those idiot scratches
I hope they were done in the war at least and not by some faggot neckbear collector
>>30967027
Why did colt discontinue the Double Eagle, but still make 1911s? The double eagle is an objectively superior design.
>>30969619
God Damn, fuggin disgusting all of it
Repost from last thread;
Anyone build a 1911builders 80%? I'm considering getting link related. I'm thinking about doing the 416 stainless version.
https://1911builders.com/collections/416r-stainless-steel-kits/products/copy-of-1911-80-full-size-aluminium-5-build-kit-with-phantom-fixture
What do you guys think is better: full beadblasted, beadblasted edges (front of grip, backstrap, bottom of frame, trigger guard, front of gun, and top of slide) with high polish sides (frame and sides of slide), or something like Sigs equinox.
New, old and in between.
Okay...
>>30970895
>That would be because they are injection molded.
isnt that exactly what MIM is?
metal injection molding
>>30970895
That's why I prefer Larue.
>>30971682
Sure, conceptually
>>30972739
>isnt that exactly what MIM is?
all this time I thought it was made in mexico
My favorite pistol I own desu senpai
>>30971682
>why would they stop making something that wasn't very popular and expensive to make and then keep making the most popular handgun in the US if not the world
Are you seriously saying you would expect them to stop making 1911s altogether because they stopped making the Double Eagle?
>>30979242
the 1911 is inferior compared to the double eagle.
Can anybody tell me what kind of fucked up screws the grip panels have? I can't find a hex key of that size anywhere.
Looking for a threaded barrel for my 1911. Sig sells a drop in but it's black. When I was looking a month or so ago, I am almost positive they had a stainless one. I would prefer a stainless to keep the look of my gun.
Any recommendations? Don't really want a custom fitted barrel as there are literally no gunsmiths near me plus I don't want to pay that much.
Have a suppressor coming in a few months.
>not Australian btw
>>30982390
Get a metric and SAE hex wrench kit, like ten bucks. Replace hex screws with flathead screws. Got mine for maybe $8 on Amazon prime. Way nicer than fucking hex screws.
>>30966959
>>30982424
Thanks, but I did find one after all.
Not in my toolbox. Not in my other toolbox.
Not out in the shed, not in my S&W Professional Armorer's Kit©.
There's one on my fucking bicycle multitool.
>>30982556
Situation update: That wasn't the right size, yet I somehow managed to unscrew a single screw.
It won't work on all the others, though.
What the fuck.
Turnbull 1911 for $1300 (will be $1400 after tax because you have to pick it up from a local Cabelas store). Seems like these normally sell for over $2000.....Cop or not?

Stop posting this. If you want negative attention this badly, then you are probably too young to post here.

>First 1911 on order
Feels good man
>>30969685
Springfield loaded
>>30982587
Cutoff wheel the screws so you can use flathead then replace them with real flathead
Anyone ever used a double stack 1911? Thinking of one of these.
>>30985145
Bump.
SIG
I
G
>>30972599
why does my peepee feel funny?
>>30985145
the metal framed double stacks suck you take the nice 1911 engonomics and make it worse than a glock. plastic framed stuff like the 2011s are actually decent for ergonomics. its all in the curves a single stack is an oval the doubles a rectangle and not a nice rectangle, a rectangle with noticeable hard edges
>>30975305
Springer MilSpec, awyes. got mine in Dec, was a impulse buy.
>>30971725
Do you have all of the jigs to do this correctly? Those are fairly pricey, and cutting the rails is not negligible.
>>30982413
>Don't really want a custom fitted barrel as there are literally no gunsmiths near me plus I don't want to pay that much.
please dont turn ur gun into a subpar version cause u dont wanna save money.
>>30987925
I was considering one of those
I like the SIG 1911s, but I went with a Springfield because I've always heard the SIG guns don't tend to be easy with regular 1911 parts, requiring much more fitting and shit
>>30988572
The slide cut is non-standard, and the bushing has a different shape. But yeah I get what you're saying.
But fuck, this thing feels so nice in the hand, and so smooth. I think it's worth the pickiness of parts in that regard.
>>30988728
I agree, I've shot an XO and they feel really nice, very smooth guns. I wouldn't hesitate to get one if I didn't think I might want to modify it later
Ordered my first; Springfield Range Officer Operator.
Going to make it my project and eventual carry gun.
1. Mainspring Housing is being replaced by a Wilson combat
2. Flat, ultralight trigger
3. Disgusting fibers to be replaced by tritium
4. Replacement, black barrel bushing
5. Magazine well
6. +P Recoil spring
7. Streamlight TL-1 HL
>>30988877
>TLR-1 HL
It's like you want yourself to be blinded by your own light.
>>30987960
Everything I've seen shows them fitting a hand as nicely as a single stack unless you have tiny hobbit hands.
