Thanx. Im not realy a Ford guy, buti got it for $450 so i jumped on it. Already had the lift and tires. Took another 2k in parts to make it road worthy and reliable, but now ive got a solid reliable 4wd with multipoint fuel injection for 2500 and a month of work on the weeksnds.

I think my lil s10 with a I4 will be good enough. It had good ground clearance, good mileage, and it has locking differential with some A/Ts. People forget you gotta travel as light as possible while not giving up essentials. And mileage is important, although big V8s are superior in power and speed. You won't be able to feed that thing for long in a SHTF scenario

I plan to be replacing my vehicle soon. So I plan to chop it up and mount parts from an old and nonfunctional humvee to it.

I've imagined a SHTF camper like this. Take a van/camper/truck/etc and convert it to a hybrid. Put solar panels on top. Charge in the sun for a couple days, drive to a new spot, repeat.

I used to have one. You can drive it right up handicap ramps and drive on the sidewalk. It can go between concrete pilings that are meant to block off cars in some places, obviously that varies though.
