So I'm thinking about wildcatting some rounds, once I finish a 6 week gunsmithing course in Oklahoma, and it got me thinking about a couple rounds that i could make. 7.62x45 Czech brass necked out to 9.3mm and a .308 shortened to 45mm and necked out to 9.3mm. I was curious what y'all think their performance would be like. Do you think it would be a good short to medium range intermediate round? I was trying to think of something that would be similar to the 9x39. Also general reloading and wildcatting thread.

OP here, sorry for my terrible grammar.
As a vz-52 owner, I wonder why the choice of 7.62x45 brass. I would consider it hard to find and expensive... not the ideal parent round for a wildcat project. Happy to be educated if you know of an easy way to find it.
Unrelatedly, half of my surplus 7.62x45 rounds refuse to fire, due to age/QC I'd guess. Anyone else have that issue?

Yuo can make the x45 brass from .220 swift if you want to reload.

I have heard that, thanks for reminding me. Maybe one day I'll bother. I mostly do milsurp bolt calibers... 6.5 swede, 6.5 and 7.7 japanese, 7.5 swiss, 30-06 and 303.

in that case, necking out a .220 swift case might be ideal for what I want to test. I chose 7.62x45 because it seemed around the same capacity of a 7.62x39 but a little straighter walled and a little more capacity.

That's a bobcat

Or maybe I could do some kind of a shortened 9.3 Brenneke or 9.3 Mauser
How about 6mm x 54 (sort of a perverted 6mm '06)?
Do it. Report results.

This is super villain tier calibre............... more please.

I love that reasoning though.
"If 1 neck is good..."
I really want to neck down some .30 carbine to 6.5mm and load a 110gr bullet. It's basically a .30 carbine with good penetration and ballistics

What's the end-over-end rifling system?
Subsonic double .30 in .223 case.

what the fuck is this?
I've got an idea. Let's make 7.62x45 popular. It's got great potential, but no one currently produces it.
>>30963568
Explain the reasoning behind this please.

2 boolits better than 1

>wants to make snowflake round
>wants parent case to be a really uncommon round
Why

Ian has done a video on it.

OP here, for my own personal use? For me to have fun developing a new round that I can be satisfied with?
>>30963787
I second this. I'm suprised Prvi Partizan doesn't even make it.
