I have both as well. I'm not a fan of the FNX 9. It's probably the least favorite of all the 9s I've shot. The 45 is fun though.

Just bought one, it's a tack driver mayne. Best trigger I've ever felt on a striker fired pistol, much better than my buddy's XDMs and Glocks. Plus stock night sights, three magazines, and $450 brand new out the door after transfer makes it a hell of a deal.

The FNS has a reinforced lip around the edges of the magwell. Im not sure why they decided to make the two designs that much different and use different mags, but I like the FNS a lot better. The lip makes its grip stronger than a glocks as well, there's is paper thin. Plus they had a batch that literally blew up and injured people, and they're considered the most reliable handguns... if that didn't ruin their brand then one squishy can't ruin the reputation of a brand like FN.

It's a glock but with all the upgrades people usually put on a glock. We had a thread a while back where we came up with things that should be added to glocks when they come out with gen 5. Everyone literally described the FNS. Ambi controls, front slide serrations, full picatinny rail, metal mags, metal sights standard, better grip texture, trigger guard that doesn't press into your middle finger, wider trigger guard for gloves, costs a reasonable amount... you'd think FN posted threads like that to get their ideas for the design.

They made all the serial numbers start with "GK" for a reason, it's a glock killa. If more people realized it and dropped their fanboyism for that dead pipe layer's gun, they'd stop having to upgrade their polished turd.

No, I wouldn't recommend it. It's way too expensive for 5.7 ammunition, and you will be paying 1,200+ just for the pistol. If you have the money I would definitely recommend an H&K USP chambered in a round you are comfortable with. (.45 ACP personally). Glock is always a good option too, with it being cheaper and and generally more available than the USP.

They have a longslide. Different calibers I agree, though I'd probably stick to the big 3 either way. Red dots lmao. You'd have to mill the slide (unless you have the tactical model) or use a rail mount just like a gawk.

The gun is a great gun, light weight, extremely accurate, light recoil, great capacity, terminal effectiveness = or slightly less than 9mm, level ii or iiia penetration when using Elite Ammunition ammo.

cons:
It's louder than other pistols
if you shop around ammo is slightly more expensive than .45acp,
the gun itself is $1,200, which is fairly expensive
Ammo isn't as common in some fun stores as other calibers but if your buying online you shouldn't have any issues
Some ranges don't allow you to shoot it since they think it will damage their backstop.

If you can afford to buy it and afford to feed it, then it will be a great first gun.
It's honestly one of my favorite guns besides my FNX-45t
