Are glocks supposed to have malfunctions? I have a gen 4 and it failed to eject a few times before (especially when my GF uses it) but I was using 115g Winchester White Box. My carry ammo is Federal HST and I've never had a problem with it, but I havent shot very much of it to practice. How do I know it will cycle properly?

Glocks are very limp wrist sensitive, they won't eject properly if you don't hold them rigidly while firing. This is common to most polymer handguns but seems to be much worse with glocks than any other brand for some reason.

Shit is expensive though. Could I get some higher quality ammo of the same grain that I am shooting as my defensive load and if that doesn't fail I could say its reliable? If not, how many rounds of HST should I put through it?

There was an issue with the early gen 4 9mms. They put a fucking .40 recoil spring in them. Send it back to glock, they did a recall. Mine was doing this shit too, loaded it up with a 33 and it stovepiped like 12 of them. Perfection everyone... It didn't get much better when they put the new spring in, it would still fail one every 3-4 mags or so, so I sold it.

Various. Even if it were low pressure stuff if it doesn't cycle it I consider that a design flaw. The fact that they limp wrist alone is a design flaw, what if I'm under stress in an emergency situation and don't grip it properly or I'm injured. I also wanted to put a light on it and glocks fuck up with certain lights too...

I WANT them to be good, I really do. I'm going to be forced to carry a g22 or g23 soon after police academy. Knowing all the issues glocks have its not really reassuring.

Anon you know that limp writing is a problem for all polymer guns. And aluminum and possibly steel if you try. The issue is the lighter frames. If you do not hold a pistol tight enough the extra velocity imparted into the frame will cause it to have a harder time returning to battery. It's like riding your bolt forward on an ar. I would argue it's not a design flaw more of a compromise in the same way steel is stronger than aluminum.

Limpwristing is a non-issue and also probably not the only reason your glock sucks so much. If this problem persists after using good ammo and having it shot right by someone who knows what they're doing, then inform Glock and tell them it's not cycling right.

Honestly, the way you make it sound is that neither you or your GF know how to shoot, but it shouldnt be ejecting brass in your face or FTFing or any of that regardless. My glock works fine even when I shoot awfully and improperly, and I dont get brass in my face either so maybe you just have a dud.

Glocks are not perfect, they rattle like an old Russian tank, the grip sucks, they're ugly as Sin. That being said, Glock just works every single time without fail. Far from perfection, but probably the best choice for self defense without spending $900+.
