We have /k/ game threads, what about some ideas of video games or just shit you'd like to see in games.
>tfw no Reciever style shooter with actual enemies and an actual game and more weapons which allows you to clear jams and field strip your weapon as well

One of my ideas; Volksturm:Destined for Doom. Basically it would be based on the Arma 2 Engine. Every time you'd play you'd be randomly dropped into the shoes of a volkssturm fighter in 1945 Berlin. You'd be (un)fortunate enough to wield such weapons as the VK98, the VG2, the ghastly EMP44, and if you are lucky, a gehrat 06 or a panzerfaust. You would either be an old man or a young kid. If you are a young kid you would be able to move quicker but would be shit at aiming and recoil. If you are an old man you will be better at aiming but slow moving and prone to tripping, falling and random heart attacks that would just kill you outright. You'd be facing off against fully mechanized American or Russian soldiers and you'd die....a lot. After dying you'd randomly re-spawn as another solider to continue the mission (Old School rainbow six style) After a certain amount of deaths your entire unit gets wiped out and you'd see some stats detailing your kill count (if any) and some fluff text describing the impact your resistance might have had on the advancing enemy, with your goal of course to have anything other than a non-existent impact on the advancing enemy. Minigames could include hanging your 2nd grade math teacher for defeatist speech or finding some American soliders to surrender to so you don't get molested by the Russians.

Now that I type this out this might be better suited as in a roguelike engine because of all the RNG that goes on.

>Cops:
+ ample weapons + ammo
+ armored vehicles
+ support from npcs that aren't looters or separatists depending on reputation in area
+ can stop/search citizens om suspicion of crimes, risking area reputation
- very strict ROE
-can't operate alone/stealthily
- can make areas hostile to them by accidentally killing/wounding lawful citizens, making unnecessary stops or searches, or damaging property, very difficult to regain trust
>looters
+can disguise oneself as a citizen to evade suspicion
+ tools and knowledge to break into most buildings
+ can attack and kill any other faction without in-faction reputation loss
- every other faction is hostile towards you
- can't capture areas, has to return "home" with loot without being caught
-weapons other than a basic pistol must be stolen or scavenged from dead or unconscious people
>separatists
+capture areas
+can have skilled workers producing police-grade hardware
+ citizen npcs can join your cause and fight for you
-police hostile to you until you convert the area they're HQ'd in
-citizens can be unconvertable loyalists, will mount a resistance in your area
-same reputation system as the police
> survivalists
+ tools and knowledge to produce food via hunting and farming
+can produce (reload) ammunition and maintain firearms
+can evade detection in wooded areas from other factions
-can only operate in small groups
-weapons are "legal" (hunting rifles and handguns)
-police don't know your location, so they can't help in case of looters

Sounds too complex to be something that people would actually play.
>>
Love the idea.
It would definitely be a possibility if some moder picked up the idea and made it.

I always thought it would be cool to manage a u.s. Naval Strike Force.
An aircraft carrier, submarine, cruisers, destroyers, frigates, etc.
Managing the greater aspect, like detaching a couple ships for another patrol or minesweeping.
And managing each individual ship, like weapon systems, upgrades/repairs, and aircraft carrier flight operations.
Also it would be cool to manage the upkeep/maintenance cycles of aircraft and other units. In time of war you can extend maintenance cycles to get more use out of the unit, however this increases the possibility of an accident.

The game would tell you that you are at war with country X. And it would be your job to position your task group on a patrol send out recon aircraft/satellites to obtain the location of objectives. Then it would be your job to generate missions, like sub hunting, cruise missle/aircraft strikes, CAP, intercept, CAS, rescue missions for downed pilots, casevac, sending SF teams to destroy radar/missle sites, drills, training, etc. All of the mission planning would be your responsibility including the ROE, route, and types of weapons used. If units don't participate in missions and don't train/drill, their performance goes down.
Maybe every now and then you receive a task to perform from the president, like a bombing mission to assassinate a high up enemy official or receiving the full authority to use WMDs.

The game would let you view the whole battlefield as well as each individual unit (ship, aircraft, SF teams, small boats, etc) and be able to select each unit for specific unit options. Graphics should be good enough to read the patches on the pilot's shoulders.

A good DLC would be a war that would have played out in the movie 'The Final Countdown'.

something like Homefront multiplayer in terms of environment.

speaking of my list...

>Fallout: New Vegas 2: radioactive boogaloo
>xcom: the bureau, but more LA:Noire style investigation and truth suppression than generic 3rd person shooter
>far cry 2:2 "finally some gun oil" edition
>arma 3: "we fixed the ergonomics and actually optimized it!" edition
>Rainbow Six 3: remastered with frostbite or cryengine. With working iron sights!
>Star Wars: Republic Commando 2 "The hunt for Sev"
>Insurgency patch for coop- artillery or mortar or CAS support (suck a dick Dry Canal, lets see BOT ANDY shoot an A-10 with an RPG)
>Homefront multiplayer remastered for bullet penetration and... thats basically it really

I think im done now
>>
I imagine a game reminiscent of STALKER. Open world post-apocalypse, but far, far less populated. Weaponry is all old and rusty, barely functional. With extreme rarity, you could come across across rifle still in cosmoline or kept in an airtight safe which isn't wrecked, but would require tools to access/clean.

The player would have to pain staking maintain his weapons, scavenging for parts to keep his shit weapons together. Ammunition would be extremely rare, necessitating a reloading mechanism.

It'd be a big survival simulator with a background story - think journals and cassette recordings from people hinting at the cause of the apocalypse. No direct goals other than to stay alive within the world - likely a finite goal.

It'd require good AI, given the capacity for fear and intimidation of the player. They would need to calculate how dangerous the player is to figure out whether to attack or not. This gives a good difficulty curve with skilled players being able to eventually intimidate enemies away instead of being hunted like dogs.

This also allows for alternative playstyles, giving the player the chance to be a cautious and stealthy survivalist or a violent, sociopathic bandit.

Obvious food, water, and sleep mechanics don't require additional elaboration.

>>
>>30946666
You need to decide if its going to be large unit fighting (like 40k and their massive armies) or more like Insurgency.

i would look at Star Wars: Xwing by FFG. Each side picks a faction, and you get 100 points to spend on ships and upgrades and stuff.

You could make a generic 11b cost 10 points, spec ops guy cost say 15, etc, then a bradley could cost say 50.

At the start, before units are placed, each side may place 3 pieces of cover on the game grid (i place one, you place one, so on) and then units are placed the same way. Whoever places cover first places units second, for balance.

Some units have special disposable upgrade cards. For instance, Recon guy or Spec ops guy or Company Lt. Can be upgraded with the "JDAM" card, which lets them use an air-strike, but once expended it is gone from the game. Another could be "First Aid" for infantry, which lets them remove an injury from another trooper.

Hell, maybe you should just run an Only War game. I'd show up to play. Have to do it on /qst/ or something for dice.

>>30944641

I've always enjoyed the same idea and wanted to see something like it.

>size of Planetside 2, but instead of different worlds, theaters of combat
>fully fleshed out naval and air combat, complete with lots of island hopping, amphibious assaults, and possibly strategic bombing
>no fucking pay to win, I want to make that clear already
>at least 3 factions, NATO-esque Western bloc, a Chinese bloc, and a Russian bloc possibly.
>logistics system (for instance, no spawning into an area cut off from resupply although more troops could be airdropped)

Here's the kicker though, I want people to choose a "branch" to serve in, maybe by buying one of three sets, not really sure.

You would have Army, Navy, and Air Force, and they would be centered in their respective mission goals, but would have limited interaction in other types of combat woth specific units.

For instance: the Navy would be primarily ship-to-ship combat or missile support of ground forces, but would also have Navy Aviators and Marines, so you could fly a (more limited) number of planes and participate in amphibious assaults and island hopping as the Marines.

Army: would obviously be centered on ground combat, but would have Army Aviators with attack helicopters.

Air Force: would obviously fly jets and fight for air superiority, while CAS craft pick off enemy ground units and support assaults, maybe participate in strategic bombing to destroy key enemy infrastructure (such as an important airfield or naval base). They would also have Security Forces which would be defensive units tasked with protecting strategic positions and airfields.

It would take years to develop and I will never see it happen, but I think it would be cool as fuck. The idea is to take the individual and make them nearly meaningless in the war, it should be a massive meatgrinder, but still fun for the people that play it. I really want to fight in a full size Internet war.

I have an idea for a game mechanic
>Tactical FPS Game
>Heavy Operator appearance customization between (or a mixture of) Militarty, Police, and Civilian customization options
>Get to choose between 3 shooting styles
>Military, Street, Operator
>*Military* is the slowest style, but most accurate. Reload time is average, but normal movement speed is slightly reduced. Reload animations are standard military (Magazine goes in hole in weapon, basically very standard and dry). Best used for protracted engagements over long distances to medium distance engagements.
>*Street* is your standard Street thug, weekend warrior 3rd world militia, or gang banger that knows just about the minimum of weapons knowlege (Shooty end goes towards the bad guy)
> Least accurate of the three and has the slowest reload speed, but has the fastest standard movement speed. Reload animations are slightly performed wrong, but if Aim-Down-Sight button held for more than 3 seconds, can tilt the gun 90 degrees and blind fire around corners. Best used for CQB ambush tactics and hit and run.
>*Operator* has the fastest reload speed, and has faster movement speed than Military, but slightly slower than Street. Weapon handling and reloading animations are Travis Haley/ Chris Costa as fuck, and C clamps are heavily used. Most tactical looking animations. If prone button is triple tapped, can drop onto back quickly and fire faster than the other styles can go prone. Move is best used when out of primary ammunition and switching to secondary weapon. Style is best for mid to close range fighting.

I've always dreamed of a successor to B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty 8th. In my version of the game however, it'd be play as a first person co-op shooter wherein you and nine of your buddies would plan out the flight plan of the rest of your squadron and man various stations on the plane. If somebody went down or was injured, you could leave your post and man whatever position they were beforehand. You and your friends at the end of every mission would receive a score based on the results of your missions varying from damage done to the objective, minimal civilian casualties, the number of allied bombers lost, and the state of your plane and crew after a mission.

I have 3 game ideas.
The first one is easily the best idea, but since I work in the industry, I'm not gonna talk about it, because I might just make it as a pet project when I have some time off.
The second and third ideas require IPs I don't have access to, so here it is:
>A new Red Alert/CnC game. Done faithfully and using proper resource management, and old mechanics. None of this limp wristed shit you get in modern RTS where you have just a steady resource trickle and 1-5 possible base buildings.
>Kaurava: basically planetside 2, but have it as a massive battle for territory across the planets in the Kaurava system in 40k. Have it mainly between Guardsmen, Orks, Eldar and Tau. Spess muhreens, wraithguards, nobz and crisis suits as low end vehicles, inquisitors, mechanicus, kommandos, mekboyz, etc. (Specialists) as unlockable specialty classes. When control of an area stagnates, have beatable, but hilariously overpowered Necron/Tyranid/Chaos NPC incursions show up to dick up the status quo.

Unturned is pretty cool, and is very easy to mod. You can create your own map with factions very easilty.
>>
>>30949522
Hm. To expand a bit on Kaurava, I just thought of something else, that might even make it a bit more /k/, while encouraging lore/rp.
Say every faction has loads of loadout options, but gain them in different ways?
>Orkz gain teef to spend on armament, directly by killing. No penalty for deaths, every ork for themselves. Orks with more wargear grow larger and become bigger targets, but gain more randomly bolted on armour pieces. Encouraging Orky recklessness and bravery.
>Eldar are the opposite. Soulstones are gained in increasing amounts the longer they survive in combat. An Eldar hiding gains nothing, but an eldar that plays conservatively and survives for hours gains loads. Encouraging Eldar conservatism and surgical strikes.
>Tau gain Greater Good through teamwork. As objectives are capped and enemies defeated, all Tau in the region get an equal share in the reward. Encouraging Tau teamwork and pragmatism.
>Humans are mildly penalized for deaths, but greatly rewarded for glorious heroism and deeds. Requisition is given out on an individual basis for objectives achieved and saving comrades. Progression would be faster than other factions, but is offset by instead of immediate upgrades, Humans must requisition new gear through the Munitorum, which is slow and requires hilarious and pointless fields to be filled out when requesting new gear. ("Reason for requisitioning Melta, name, birth planet, etc." Then it takes 30 mins to arrive on next orbital shipment.)
The human one might be a bit much, but it would be hilariously appropriate, canon-wise.

Living weaponry, armor grown from a collection of plants and fungi, that sort of shit. The protag could be a carnivorous hominid or a sea cucumber or even an anomalocarid.

It could take place across various planets, with the journeys between involving space battles.

Some ideas:

>Beeg Yawguh
It was supposed to be the perfect state, a planet-wide city of endless progressivism, totalitarian laws against dissenting opinions, and entertainment. Within a matter of a few generations the planet was reduced to a post-apocalyptic hellhole of xenophobic clans. Riding dogs into combat while firing machine pistols everywhere, the clans have begun building rickety starships. The protag could end up fighting swarms of the fuckers as practice.

>Clade Palin
Dimwitted and adapted to life in the vacuum of space, this species of rotund hermaphrodite is strongly feminine, living like aphids in the ice rings of gas giants. They have fan-like tails composed of photosynthetic tissue, making them stand out as they cling to your spacecraft (or you, if you're also vacuum-adapted).

>Medusa Front
This terrorist outfit is composed of octopi-turned-artists, forcibly transforming communities, habitats, and even planets into biological works of art. Soda lakes, anaerobic trees, anything they think is possible, they'll do.

More ideas:

>Warlord Competition
Some mercs become leaders, with bear-soldiers following "Papa bear", and fedora-clad samurai following a "shogun". Specific ideologies would play a major role, with a hyper-conservative outfit being slow to react to the bear-soldiers during a takeover of such-and-such planet. The protag could start his own merc outfit and/or upset the balance on certain planets, aiding and hindering certain groups for a specific outcome.

>Clone vats
They might resemble a cauldron, they resemble an egg, but regardless, the protag (and most likely a lot of other mercs) have "vats" that grow copies of their current body. Should the merc die, his mind will be transferred to one of the vat-interred bodies.

>Dying Regimes
As new technologies makes new cultures possible, it's inevitable that nation-states, businesses and other such organizations will lash out to maintain their dominance. The protag could find itself "putting down" the old regimes, infiltrating their last redoubts. Imagine, tearing through Phobos to wipe out the inbred remains of the Federal government of the USA. Maybe the Saudis made a mistake in trying to kidnap the representative of the Europan Collective.

>Intergalactic Worldship
Maybe all of it is occurring on a massive ship being sent to a distant galaxy. There's hardly anything between galaxies; what happens on the ship stays on the ship for possibly an entire eon. The game could take place a few centuries into the journey, when nothing of Earth-derived culture could be recognized.

RTS where you play an African Warlord.

Each game randomly generates a large, working city. You can build nothing. You are a warlord. You use coercion in the form of religion, violence and threats of violence to recruit troops, get resources and grow in power. The city will spawn armed citizens/police/military to try and defend itself. Eventually the entire area is under your control, or you are killed and your empire falls apart.

It gets to the point where you start killing people out of hand. I honestly came back around full circle, I started out avoiding other players like the plague, than after awhile I'd try to talk to them/give them a chance to not fight, then I started trying to team up, got fucked doing that. So then I started shooting anything that fucking moved, breathed, crawled or twitched. I stopped counting around 25 (did 5 at once by myself, probably one of my fondest vidya memories. Proper use of cover, suppressive fire, movement, funneling techniques. They were using the local chat and kept trying to figure out how many guys they were fighting, were convinced it was at least 3)

Got bored with that so I just started firing in people's general direction while me and a buddy tried putting together a bunch of vehicles. We knew the cities very well, knew where to avoid and what routes people took to get through. It's amazing what you can see if you just sit for 10 minutes. Anyway, we'd send a burst their way, they'd dive for the nearest building, and we'd fuck off. Always kind of amusing how they would scramble and try to figure out where the fire came from. Eventually we started patrolling the coast, picking up Newbies and taking them around to get some low level gear, maybe give them some food and water if pickings were slim. That's when we got bored and started playing less and less.

I booted up the Standalone recently, I just can't find it in me to play anymore. That and it's been what, 4 years now? It doesn't look any different, and it saddens me that it's turned into little more than a scam.

Not to say i've had my fair share of wacky shit (Teamed up with 6 guys, went to the airfield, and one of them had 8 dudes waiting for us, we still won.) but this game is about survival of the fittest. Typical SHTF survival game.

Guns and loot are obtainable through scavenging and crafting.

No sandbox building, but able to fortify buildings and create bases. Similar to what you might see in GMOD DARKRP.

But there's a twist. Upon spawning you are given a random character. This character has certain traits both physical and mental.

Examples:

>Pro Athlete

Pros
-Great physical condition
-Can run farther, faster
-Can carry more

Cons
-Bad at everything else
-Spoiled, and thus needs more food/water

>Paraplegic
Pros
-Upper body strength
-Insane carry weight
-Guns with bipod = INSANE accuracy

Cons
-Paraplegic
-nolegz

It's also and open world multiplayer.

I've got the perfect game for you mate.

Project Zomboid.

It fills almost everyone of your request except its a zombie game.
Still, its the best SHTF multi-player zombie game out there.

You can design your character or randomize it.
Build fortifications if you have the resources.
You need to scavenge for water and food before the electricity goes out and refrigerators and sinks(and toilets) stop working.
Its also character perma-death. You can however come back to your old location with a new survivor and find your old character dead... or living dead.

>get contracts from country of origins intelligence agency, if independent counties will give you contacts based on trust and skill level.
>do too much for one country and get blacklisted by rivals
>also can be burned by home country for less than reputable actions
>open world, FPS. Complete control of loadout (fully kitted up or civvie clothes and handgun)
>complete deniable ops, direct action, black ops, humint and more to gain funding.
>can also take clandestine side jobs to supplant personal account that can be used on black market goods, untracable by home country
>side jobs can be anywhere from taking contracts for rival countries to arms and drug running, along with human trafficking or propagating terror groups and more
>complete freedom to finish missions however you like, failure means anywhere from trying again to detainment and execution or even a burn notice from country of origin.
>other counties might harbor you and use you as an operative after a blacklist or burn notice
>can also hire npcs for humint, recon, muscle or assassinations. Funded via agency accounts or personal accounts.
>with enought money, connections and clout you can create and manage your own agency/pmc or rise to director of agency for country of origin

>Kaurava: basically planetside 2,
Isn't that what Eternal Crusade is intended to become?
>>
>>30955565
Nah.

A) it'll never really get made. They fucked up, and over the course of development, it's gone from MMO to Grand Shooter to Squad Shooter. It's headed towards "40k reskin of Battlefield", but I doubt will ever make it that far. At this point they're just trying to break even on suckers buying into their FULL PRICE early access, so that they can suddenly one day say "there, it's done!", go full release with a half finished product, and disappear.

B) lacks 100% of the mechanics listed above, and even 90% of planetside mechanics. No real gear or progression, nothing. Is pretty much just a weird attempt to re-market Space Marine's multiplayer but with larger server sizes.

C) The scale is all off. Instead of being a lowly Guardsman/Grot/Acolyte/Fire Warrior, and having the occasional veteran Spess Muhreen support a unit, they just went ahead and started everyone as marines. Guardsmen, Leman Russ tanks, Krieger cavalry, will NEVER be in the game because they stared too grand. It will never be large infantry battles, but is now stuck always being "5 marines vs. 5 Nobz" kind of battles. It makes it boring and bland. Imagine 100 guardsman players, maybe a few commissar players with 5 npc squads, scattered inquisitorial personnel, and maybe 7 marines, massed to take a province from some bunkered-in Tau. That sort of thing is what made Planetside great. Starting as marines would be like if in planetside, you all just spawned in as tanks or something. Your loadout options amount to different turrets and that's it. Boring and bland.

Tl:dr: it's a broken game that'll never be finished and would be "like planetside" the same way Starforge (look it up) is "like Ark: Survival Evolved"

A small detachment of a UN Joint training Exercise get caught up in a Wizard spell.

They get teleported to a Fantasy land,
Dragons,
Knights,
Dungeons and Kings.
That kinda shit, a little bit of magic, but not that much.
They are recognized as being, Different, Educated and well trained,
Old world differences and ideologies bubble up, the force scatters to far off kingdoms where they are easily given positions of Royalty and Status among the kingdoms.

Educating their respected kingdoms, They bring modern tactics, Industry and weapons to these dark ages.

A few hundred years pass, The original visitors have long died, But their traditions have been passed down. Warfare is conducted with clunky assault rifles in platemail with small squads.

Picture this, A small squad of knights stacking up on a door to a small INN, All in armour, All with Tactical Vests over their breast plates, They all carry Medieval looking assault rifles.
They smash the door open with a warhammer and clunk into the Inn, Sweeping corners and checking for tangos. There are bodies everywhere. Suddenly, the door to the basement is kicked open, A troll lumbers out, Letting out a roar he charges at the knights, who take up position and focus fire to bring him down.

I'm thinking a Swat style game with the Kingdom's Finest. Dark Souls style armour and melee combat, Flicking to a tight over the shoulder or first person shooter when you pull out ranged weapons.
Different Kingdoms have produced a different style of knight, Fighting and weapons.

I would hope for a bit of Base management as you protect your selected kingdom from Magical Hordes that are Escalating up. Kinda Xcom style really. Research the new threat arising and the ANCIENT EVIL that threatens the lands. Keep your citizens happy and well defended inside the castle walls.
Expand area out.
Try not to piss of neighboring kingdoms.... then go to war with them.
Yeah.

Another nice feature would be the ability to customize the weapons/armor/engine etc of your units, and maybe have some mixed armor/infantry units. So, basically Advance Wars with some extra depth.
